  1. The next Mistborn era (era 3) isn’t a space opera. According to Brandon it’s a 1980sesque spy thriller. Era 4 is the space opera that’s supposedly going to be Stormlight Archive length books. I’ve seen this around the forums a bit and it seems quite a few folks have forgotten about era 3’s time frame.

As to your topic, the way metal is special in the cosmere as it relates to investiture makes me wonder if robots as we know them IRL could work. I like the idea mentioned about anything Awakened being a sort of robot. Idk. Interesting idea! I love these forums.

  2. I have but not recently. I read it when it first dropped and have been doing a reread the past three weeks to have it all fresh before reading RoW for the second time. I’m ok with talking about any point. I am on the coppermind pretty much the entire time I read any cosmere book haha. Why did you ask? :)

  3. “My spren claims that recording this will be good for me, so here I go. Everyone says I will swear the Fourth Ideal soon, and in so doing, earn my armor. I simply don’t think that I can. Am I not supposed to want to help people? —From drawer 10-12, sapphire” ~epigraph for Oathbringer 86

Anyone else find this chapter opening to be extremely ominous? I think that it may refer to the 4th ideal of the Elsecallers due to their utilitarian and somewhat Machiavellian attitude. But the idea that the 4th Ideal of an order goes against the idea of protecting others is wild. Noticing this on a fresh read through of OB. Anyone have thoughts? Not much on the coppermind regarding this.

Honorblades grant access to the powers, without restrictions of the bonds and spren. That's why Szeth was so dangerous, as he could act in the way no Honorspren would ever allow. That's why it's so important to prevent them from falling into someone else's hands, as they could utilize them in a very destructive manner, like Szeth did.

Also we don't know, but Honorblades might be connected in some way to Oathpact. They were made by Honor himself, and granted to 10 Heralds likely in the same time when Oathpact was made.

That’s what I thought. But wondered if there was anything else. Your theorizing on their connection to the Oathpact is an interesting one. Are we supposed to get Taln’s flashback in SA 5? I thought I’d heard that. I hope that if we do, it explains more of the mechanics of the Oathpact.

  5. I’m rereading SA and am at the end of WoR. Syl tells Kaladin after they fight Szeth to go after the honorblade that Szeth drops, that it must not be lost. Why is the honorblade so important? Wouldn’t a spren consider them more dangerous because they grant Surgebinding without the Nahel bond? What do y’all think?

  6. I’ve read tons of posts on here but realized today I didn’t have a good reason to not be a member! Every time I meet an IRL cosmere fan, I get super excited. So why wouldn’t I interact here?! Excited to be a part of the community.

That said, any tips, tricks, rules, or expectations would be appreciated! I’m starting to look through the forums for stuff like that but any links/info would be appreciated.

A little about myself. I discovered Way of Kings in 2013 and the rest is history haha. I’m a massive fan and have read almost everything Sanderson has written. The interlocking lore of the Cosmere was a fantasy fan’s dream come true. Getting to read these books over and over is so fun. And Brandon’s commitment to his work and the fans is so refreshing. Hope you guys and gals and non-binary pals are doing well! Glad to be here!
