    Eddie mutes the sound of his speech partway through, so that the districts can't hear it, but she nods, silently saluting the boy. "Good on you, son," she whispers. "That was an honorable choice."

    "Good, good, see?" Eddie asks sweetly."Now, let's get you to bed." There's the sound of footsteps retreating and then, a minute later, a hologram of Eddie shows on the sky. "There now," she says, face still frozen in a perfect smile. "You've all met the...boy. And I'm sure you understand what this means; the man who put you there to die, the head gamemaker that's been trying to destroy you? He has a weakness. And I'm going to give you the chance to exploit it, to put your knives through the crack in his armor. You want revenge? I'll give you the chance to break Anansi Bonswear." And then the hologram disappears.

    Eddie, however, also seems very excited. "Yes! It works very well, you'll have to tell your Daddy what a great job he's doing making the screen-people seem like real people! But right now, I think he must be very worried about you. Does he know you're here?"

    "You silly boy!" Eddie says, and starts tickling his toes. "Don't you know your Daddy makes very nice video games? This is one of his newest ones, don't you think they seem like real people?"

    Eddie presses her fingers to her temples and takes a deep breath, then forces a laugh, a lighthearted giggle. "Oh! Silly boy, are you playing your Daddy's video games? I know, they seem very real sometime--" "SHUT UP, you stupid computer," Eddie says slowly and sweetly. Then, quiet enough that Cassian can't hear (though the contestants can), she mutters, "I will. I'll punish all of you." Then, turning back to Cassian, she says, mischievously, "I think it's time for your bedtime, little mister!"

    At that moment, Eddie sees Cassian from across the room. "That irresponsible little--" she mutters. "How can Anan let that brat run around in here?" Her voice barely picks up on the mic. She storms over, everyone hears footsteps, and grabs Cassian by the shirt, pulling him off the chair and dropping him roughly on the ground. "What are you doing in here, little boy?" She snarls.
