"Nah, he's too much of a dunce to pick up on half of the stuff I'd throw his way," March said, ignoring her insult. "Y'know one time I had a whole conversation with him where he just nodded his head and said 'yeah' the whole time? I don't know why Father keeps him around, other then incentive for June I suppose . . ."

"And I suppose you're above that sort of thing, huh?" He swung his legs off the table and took another swig of his drink. The sharp stuff made him feel perky despite being up all night. "At least that God of yours keeps you responsible, I'll give him that."

"Most of us don't need visions from God to pick up on the unsaid, sweetheart."

March smirked. "And leave you to your own devices? Please, if you found July on you're own you'd be more likely to run off with him then bring him back!"

He rolled his eyes. "You know I can't do that, not when Father gave us this assignment himself. . . plus, sitting around here sounds way more relaxing then going back to the hot mess in the capitol."

March gave her a flat stare. "What do you want to do, sit by the front gate and count every person that comes in? And for how long?" He laughed. "Please, that's ridiculous." He raised his voice to match hers, "Oh March, we can't leave yet even though we've been here for a month, I just know he'll come tomorrow." "If there's anyway to let him slip through our fingers, that'd be it!" He raised his mug to her, in a mock toast.
  9. "HeEY!" He says, laughing a little and pushing her away. "We'll talk about it later today, when Dougella is ready."

He grumbled something inaudible to himself. "And yet the facts say otherwise. All three of us searched up and down last night."

March's expression hardened. "Well, when we're children it can be difficult to accept what's best for us, am I right?" his words were loaded with an underlying threat.

"You mean you dreamt of being chosen by the Emperor himself," March corrected her matter-of-factly. "Don't act like it's some kind of tragedy."
  13. "Sure I'll take another sword." Aki had spaced off, and hearing his name had brought him back. "If it's a different style I should be able to teach myself how to use it.

"Oh-okay." March said, trying not to be disrespectful. "So he just comes down from heaven and tells you stuff?"
  15. Man, walking on solid ground for once is nice. "Solid? We're in the ocean aren't we?" Here in purgatory where land and water is is swapped, so the ocean is a continent for me. "Oh . . . that's weird. Wait, what do you do when I'm on land then?" Our Connection is strong enough that I can float on top of the mist . . . or something, I'm not sure how it works. "Huh, well if I die I'll at least get to see what you're talking about." I'd rather you didn't Sharlin looked out at the open sea, the sun shining down on them as they sped through the water. "I wouldn't mind dying now . . ." She said softly, too quite for anyone to hear. Whether Sharp heard it or not, she didn't know because he didn't reply. @The Bookwyrm @Dragonheir @Ancient Elantrian

"I guess I don't think visions make very good evidence but who knows . . . maybe the 'One Above' meant a nearby city and not this one?"
  17. Lee smiled and shrugged. "Alright, that's what I thought but I was just making sure." He hung up his coat and moved over to sit on the couch in front of the TV. He hadn't really watched the games at all last night, between being late and dinner. He hated to admit how desperate he was to see Sharlin well and alive. "Ah . . . You'll find out later," He said dismissively.

March nodded. "Well, I'm not surprised, it's not like we thought he was here for sure." He leaned back in his chair and put his feet up on the table. "And I'm in no rush, really." @The Bookwyrm
  19. Master igenis rose from inspecting a body, and nodded. "Very well, we'll get moving again then." He got back in the wagon, with surprising agility. The bodys only have basic travelling supplies on them. A tinderbox, some small blunt knives, a cloak with patches on it, some dry moldy-looking rations. You should already have this sort of thing, but you can take it if you want. "I don't want to be on the open road after dark," Nera said, "We'd be a huge target. It'd be much better to camp so that we're less noticeable. There will certainly be more bandits once the sun sets." Calum nodded in agreement. "And it's not like we're in any rush to get to the city. Making good time is fine but we should prioritize safety on a mission like this."

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

Somewhere in Truehearth, early morning March pushed away from the bar, drink in hand. He made his way across the room to where his two companions sat at a round table. They had agreed to meet in the tavern that morning after searching the city for July. Guessing from the fact that July wasn't with them, it seemed they'd had the same poor luck as him. He set his drink on the table, and his plate armor clinked softly as he sat down. Really, there was no reason to rush in finding July. It's not like he was a major threat to anything, September was just sore at loosing the Shi-Matahn, and the Emperor wanted him back simply for the sake of having him. The only real issue was that it was way more difficult to get June to do anything productive. March readjusted his glasses before taking a swig of his drink. "So . . . I'm guessing you didn't find anything?" he asked April and November. @Spark of Hope @The Bookwyrm - Jolane's family's village, a day or so ago October scowled at the grave stone. June was humming and combing his horse's mane. They'd searched the whole village and found nothing. No silver buttons, no crystal earrings. Just a gravestone with 'September' painted on it in scrawling handwriting. "That's sweet that he took the time to bury her," June commented testily. He was right to be worried about October blowing up, the older man's mood had only gotten worse. But for some reason, October couldn't be enraged by this. He just felt numb. "Well you know, he was always the sentimental sort." He scratched his beard thoughtfully. After a lengthy starting contest with the grave, he turned sharply and swung himself back onto his horse. "Can I go look for July now, pleeeeease?" June asked, seeing that October was feeling uncharacteristically calm. "No, August will be in the next city, or maybe the one after that." "So we'll just keep looking for him for all eternity? He's famous for being slippery 'tober, let's just give up." October glared at the younger man from his horse. "Are you trying to stall for him or something? And hear I thought you two had a falling out." June's face reddened in anger. "We did! This isn't about August at all, I just want to find July!" "March and the others are taking care of it." June grumbled something inaudible and got back on his horse. - Truehearth Gates July looked up at the city wall, staring at the tall buildings past it. It was almost as big as the large cities in the empire he'd grown up in. He found the sound of crowds of people moving in and out oddly comforting. August put his book away. "Well, we're finally here." @Through The Living Glass @TheRavenHasLanded @others
