    Lerac left the courtyard. Once he reentered the Clinic hallways, he searched for a secluded corner and, finding one, sank to the ground against the wall and began to cry.

    Lerac now seemed more confused than anything. But he turned and continued to leave.

    He smiled back. "I don't think I can help it." He met her gaze, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. It was perhaps the most direct sign of emotion she had seen from him. He didn't reply, only looked away shook his head slightly to himself before turning to leave.
