  1. "No, it's just that... when I heal someone, I feel a bit of their pain. I'm pretty used to it but... well, that was a lot."
  2. "Well, it sounds like I can help. Speaking of that TAAron guy..." He went over to the unconscious scholar. "Let's see how this goes." He placed his hand on TAAron's forehead. Almost immediately, he cried out in pain, quickly pulling his hand away and falling to his knees. "Ah. That was quite something," he said, voice wavering.
  3. "I... You must have had parents at some point, right? Can you just not remember them?" The smile had gone from his face, and he looked sorry for her.
  4. "I work at the plant shop my father owns. He'll probably hand it down to me in five years or so, once I'm of age."
  5. "We call it liquid sugar. It's used in a lot of foods, great for business if you can learn to grow it. It and sour grass both, actually."
  6. "Interesting." The bud popped in her mouth, releasing a small flood of sweet liquid that coated her mouth and lingered pleasantly. "Like it?" Lerac asked, smiling. He smiled a lot, it seemed.
  7. "The trident is alive, then? "No, actually, very sweet."
  8. "Tors? Who is that? "We call our home Peshe, but I don't know if you'd recognize that name. I've never left it in my life until now, although I knew about the existence of other dimensions." Lerac picked a different flower without fully developed petals that had grown next to his foot, and offered it to her. "I think you'll like this one. Eat the bud."
  9. "I think I mentioned it before. I was just gathering plants, then the ground started shaking. Next thing I know, I'm bleeding out on the floor with a trident in my chest. Where did that go, anyway?"
  10. "Oh. Well, you could've just said that."
  11. Thanks for the follow, by the way

  12. "What? They're just magic?" He said the last word with faux enthusiasm. "I think that by definition the 'possessed behavior' was not my own. And don't worry, the sour grass will grow on you. Hopefully not in you." He smiled jovially at her.
  13. "Huh. Usually singing to snakes doesn't work when I find them in my garden."
  14. "Why, what does singing have to do with your suicide mission?"
  15. "I like to think I am." "Oh, interesting. And what do you think of me so far?" He said this as though what she had said was completely normal, although there was a spark of curiosity in his eyes.
  16. "So, you all are going to potentially die to heal one person's soul damage?" He raised an eyebrow in a skeptical sort of way. "Alright." "Haha. I guess I'll come, since there's no other way for me to get back to my home." He noticed her examining him. "What? Did I do something wrong?"
  17. "No idea what that is." "If I can be of help. What type of assistance do you need, anyway?"
  18. "Think I could come with? I'll need some help getting back to my home land."
  19. "I suppose that depends on what you call heroism, but you make a fair point. Maybe what I'm trying to stay is that it was stupid to bank your life on me being a healer. One of these days your plot armor is going to break, my friend."
  20. "Right... but wouldn't a protagonist survive through skill, willpower, and gumption, as opposed to being repeatedly saved by complete chance? Or if you are a protagonist, you're at least not a very good hero."
  21. "And that made you think you are a protagonist? And you still think that, even after what just happened?"
  22. "What an interesting story!" Lerac, unknown to the pair, had begun listening in. "So, is your special ability what led you to believe that you are the 'protagonist?'"
  23. I would like to petition for the banning of small removable parts on frequently handheld objects.

I've already lost two pen springs AND the tip of my stylus.

And don't get me started on mechanical pencils. I don't usually lose the actual pencil parts, but all the lead is gone in like 2 minutes.

      The Bookwyrm

All the mechanical pencils that I've been using lately just...fall apart.

Also the erasers erode to quickly, and then when I found an actual working mechanical pencil and had access to more lead I couldn't pry the completely eroded eraser out of the actually working one to get a new one in.

I need a nice mechanical pencil; then I'll be fine.

  24. "Nothing at all? I don't mean directly, but he's never said anything that shows he cares about you? More than the normal amount, maybe?"
