  1. I'm not trying to make you cry, girl. I simply wish to demonstrate the extent of my power. You questioned me, and now your mortal friend is gone forever. Wynn, are you okay? What just happened?
  2. "Wait for you? How long will that be? Wynn, I-" Lerac's voice cut out with a horrible screech, like metal scraping. It was replaced by the voice of Death. "It is done, Malum. As you requested." I don't think he'll be able to wait for you. What a shame.
  3. "Undeath? That doesn't sound pleasant. Well, I... guess this is goodbye." Lerac sounded deeply sad. There almost seemed to be a longing in his voice, although what for could not be certain. The puppy agreed? How?
  4. "Wynn, why didn't you come and talk to me like you did with TAAron? No, that's a dumb question. I'm not as important." The voice didn't sound bitter, just resigned. How sweet. Where did you get the name?
  5. "I was also nosy and insensitive. Those aren't very redeeming qualities." Right. Is that what the dog is for?
  6. "I gave you hope? How so?" Alright... What is your plan for dealing with him?
  7. "Why do you miss me? What was I to you?" What is it, exactly?
  8. I could probably bring him back. I know Death well. "Wynn?" Lerac's voice sounded in the room.
  9. By the way, I heard from Death. He says to call off your council people or he'll destroy Lerac's soul.
  10. "Does this... happen often?" He shook his head, laughing softly. "How did yesterday go?"
  11. "Haly," he whispered. Dropping a coin, he Pushed himself up to her. "Why are you up here?"
  12. TAAron woke up, rubbing his eyes. I should check on Haly. He made his way down the passage and to her room.
  13. "Good night." He looked at her, dozens of thoughts running through his head. "I love you."
  14. "Alright. I guess I'll go." His voice was wavery as he entered the hidden passage. "Good luck."
  15. He looked at her sadly. "Alright... I think I have my own room now, but you don't know where that is. I might go to Cjehu's room."
  16. Antin spent a while studying runes. Once, he almost wanted to go to sleep, but decided against it.
  17. "I won't," TAAron lied unconvincingly. The words rung in his ears. You were dead. Everything was simple. He felt a tear roll down his cheek, but he quickly wiped it away. "Uh, what now? Should I leave? More people are going to come, probably. Is there some way I can stay?" He felt slightly desperate, as though if he left, he wouldn't be able to make himself come back.
  18. "Well. That was something." He noticed her bearing. "Are you alright?"
  19. TAAron relaxed slightly. "I was... revived. Lerac is dead. A girl gave me a Permissive to get here."
  20. TAAron quickly let go, and turned to the door. "What do I do?" he whispered to Haly.
  21. TAAron smiled, and pulled her into an embrace. "I'm sorry this had to happen to you. I'll be here as long as you need me." --- Death sighed, and went back to his ledgers.
  22. "Someone died for me, Haly. That's what I was trying to avoid. But..." He took a shaky breath. "I won't abandon you. I can't. What can I do to help you?" --- The souls remained mostly silent, except for some indistinct whispering between them. "Screaming? Where did you get that idea?"
