  1. Apparently unable to contain it any more, he collapsed into Wynn, sobbing.
  2. He shook his head again, his normal self-assuredness replaced by hopelessness and fear.
  3. He tensed. The tears began coming again, and he fiercely wiped them away.
  4. He shook his head. He began to tear up, but he quickly wiped it away. No. I don't cry.
  5. I may not have been able to talk to the boy in the library about Sanderson, but I did successfully use a school assignment in an attempt to convince one of my teachers to read Mistborn today!

I was kind of rushed, but here was my attempt at it:

      Spoiler

Mistborn is a fantasy book series by Brandon Sanderson and is likely my favorite book series. It takes place in a universe known as the Cosmere, which contains most of Sanderson’s adult fantasy series such as The Stormlight Archive, and standalones like Elantris and Warbreaker. He is known for his use of hard magic systems with fascinating rules, limitations, and intricacies that are integrated elegantly into each world. The Metallic Arts of this series are no exception. Mistborn itself takes place on a planet called Scadrial, a world where black ash rains down from the sky, filling streets and covering buildings. At night, thick mist fills the land, obscuring visibility. It is said by many of the common people, the skaa, that a man who walks out in the mists loses his soul.

The story of the first book primarily occurs in the grand city of Luthadel at the center of the Final Empire, where the concentration of nobility, as well as poverty and crime, is at its highest. The empire is governed by the Lord Ruler, an immortal man said to be a splinter of God, and his Steel Ministry. Our protagonist, a young girl named Vin, lives on the streets and in thieving crews, recently abandoned by her brother and left surviving only by wit and her special Luck. She is approached by Kelsier, a mysterious man also known as the Survivor of Hathsin. He has the answers to questions Vin has had all her life, a crew of ordinary people with extraordinary abilities, and a ridiculous plan: rob the Lord Ruler blind, and if he can, kill him while they’re at it.

  6. He sent a small burst of fire into her face in response, and gritted his teeth at the pain.
  7. Par lowered his voice as well. "Okay. You can trust me. I couldn't hurt anyone, let alone a child." He transformed into an ordinary, very cute, gray housecat. @Channelknight Fadran @Random Bystander
  8. "I could turn into a cat and hide. That'd be more effective."
  9. "Are we sure she shouldn't just go to bed? I can keep watch on her."
  10. Par carefully stood up, holding her. He felt dizzy, and not just from the blood. He definitely had a concussion.
  11. "I don't think so..."
  12. Par glanced at Aolicei inquisitively.
  13. "Is there... anything I can do for you?"
  14. He looked momentarily taken aback, but then hugged her back, feeling suddenly protective. "Yeah, that makes sense. I'm sorry about what happened."
  15. Par looked down at the girl. "Uh... You okay?" Stupid question.
  16. "Well, this was not how I expected this day to go." @Random Bystander
  17. "Not really. It's part of the same. I can use the magic that builds up inside me when I dampen things."
  18. "And you think she could have done it?" Par was still holding the child.
  19. Antin went over to them. He did his best to feel the different frequencies, and when he was close he found he could. Now he just need to figure out which was which... He cycled through them, emitting a tiny puff of each one's respective magic. It only hurt a little. Eventually, he found the one. He placed his hand on the correct rune.
  20. "We aren't sure. It's probably either absorption or destructive interference." Antin kept his hand on the rune.
