    His vision returned. "Alright then. Any questions for me?"

    Variance chuckled, and then Shim's vision went dark. "Did that work?"

    "Yes. You know, it's interesting. My magic doesn't change anything about the real, physical world. Your light is really just as it was. But clearly, I can still have an effect on you. I'd guessed, of course, because you can see me, but there's my confirmation."

    It's been overcast all day today, and it even rained a little, which is... unprecedented. Still, far better than scorching summer sun. I'd take cold over warm pretty much every day.
