    Vena chuckled softly to herself.

    "No, this is the first time we've met. And there's going to the moving mountains, Lilyana's home."

    "No, not a robot. A person. Although I guess that depends on what you call a person. I'm Vena, by the way."

    "I'm sort of like a temporary person, made for this specific case." She shrugged.

    "We'll I'm not actually him. I know what he knows, and can do what he does, but I am not Arbiter."

    Vena noticed her. "Ah, you're up! Well, for one, I've... come into existence. I'm Arbiter's new form, so to speak. He likes to create one for each new group he follows."

    "But... you weren't making a promise to me. Or is that not a requirement?"

    "Couldn't you have tried to, I don't know, pinch me or something? Why did you go for a cut?" She wasn't at all annoyed or upset.

    She laughed. "This isn't a physical body. I mean, I could create one, but that seems a bit inconvenient."

    The blade passed through her arm. She looked at him, bemused. "What was that for?"

    "Well, I'm not exactly a human. I barely qualify as a person."

    "That doesn't make a lot of sense."

    "Will you? You've known me for a few minutes. And I don't have much of a purpose beyond this."

    "Well, I'm afraid I won't be able to stick around after this, if that's what you're suggesting. Arbiter has things to do."

    "How so?"

    "Not really. More like different people, more or less cohabitating. He's ultimately in control, but we get varying degrees of autonomy. When this is done, I'll probably just fade away or go dormant if he cares to keep me around." As dark as it sounded, it didn't seem to bother Vena at all.

    "Well, he tends to do away with us once he's done with a case. And I'll keep the dress, I think. Don't worry, it won't be a problem for me." She didn't seem to particularly take note of the pretty comment, or the blush. @TheRavenHasLanded

    "Well, he still exists. I didn't replace him, I just... took the reigns. He arbitrates conflicts between immortals and mortals, mostly. Depending on what he decides, he might help out one side or just step away. This time he's decided to stick with this group for a while. That's what I'm here for."

    "Definitely different. How different tends to depend of the form, but this one is not him."

    Vena did not sit down, but she appeared unaffected by the movement of the train.

    She blinked. "I though you knew. Does no one have any idea where to go?"
