    They walked in silence, unsure how to respond to what Réva was saying. She seemed very convinced.

    17 pondered for a moment, expression blank. The words didn't really compute. "It was meant for the tests."

    "Hm. I guess so, a while ago. That was part of a test. A few tests." They didn't seem very bothered by it.

    17 looked suddenly nervous. "You did already touch me earlier."

    "May you what?"

    "I don't know. The Makers get angry if they do, even on accident. It's like they think something bad will happen."

    "The Makers are the leaders. The Helpers assist with the tests. Helpers aren't allowed to touch me, and they rotate out a lot. There are fewer Makers."

    "They do a lot of different things. Test everything I can do, measure it, write it down."

    "What about them?"

    "Right. Like the Helpers and Makers. I don't think I'm like them."

    "I guess so."

    "I mean, I won't. I never do." 17 looked at 209845 warily, cocking their head as they listened to what it was saying.

    They shrugged.

    "Uh... No? I'm sorry."

    "I don't know." 17 tested out another jab with the sword, trying to match what Jidah had done.

    "More comfortable?" They still didn't meet her eyes.

    17 let the sword drop. "What is it?"

    They did so, seemingly more comfortable now that they were in the rhythm of receiving and obeying instructions.

    A few things to add. One, Rhythm confessed that Rhythm is not her real name when introducing herself to 17. Two, 17 described themself as having been created for the purpose of testing. Three, according to 17, the Helpers and Makers intend to test them on "every conceivable metric." Up to you what if any of this you think the relevant enough to add to the original post
