  1. "Well, people I know are here, and Death's general presence is known, so it's convenient."
  2. "Nameless, TAAron, and Haly." "I suppose I do," he said to Pic. @Cash67
  3. Lerac shook his hand, sending a rush of warmth through him as well.
  4. "Why do you ask?" "Right now I'm mostly disconnected from Death."
  5. He shook Pic's hand, and Pic felt the same rush of warmth Aventine had. "No, I'm afraid death is an irreparable condition for me." He smiled slightly. "Yes."
  6. "I was here once before. That was when I died."
  7. "Death decided that the situation I was monitoring isn't a major concern at the moment, and... I miss life, I suppose. He let me have time off."
  8. "I'm currently... on leave." He shook her hand, and she felt another rush of warmth. He let go. "Sorry."
  9. For Pic's benefit, he whistled a short and familiar, melody, the same as he had when Death had been speaking to them. "I am Lerac. His agent. More accurately, his avatar." @Cash67 @Spark of Hope
  10. "Yes, it is a result of my... condition."
  11. He nodded. Aventine noticed that the motion seemed to leave behind a faint glow, or afterimage.
  12. "No. It's only a brief thing. Is there anyone else that needs assistance?"
  13. "Just a consequence of my healing. It used to be that I felt a portion of someone's pain, but now it seems I feel all of it... several times over." He winced.
  14. He grazed her arm with his fingertips, and immediately a rush of warmth flooded her. It was immediately familiar as the sensation they had felt earlier in the infirmary, only lacking the conflicting cold. The man inhaled sharply as though from a sudden shock or pain, then withdrew his hand. The warmth dissipated, and all that remained of her injuries was gone.
  15. "No." He paused. "I might be able to help with your injuries. May I?" He held out a hand as though to touch her arm.
  16. A man she had never seen before stood there. He was very tall, with brown hair and striking green eyes. He wore simple, light clothing that would be suitable for springtime or summer. At his side, there was a sheathed dagger. "Hello." His voice was somewhat soft.
  17. They heard a knock on the door of the infirmary.
