Cash walked around and observed the field. "How does a 2v2 sound?" he asked Oran.

Cash shrugged and began following Oran.

Phantump stays planted on Cash’s head, though it does begin to converse animatedly with Bokurei. “Eh, same thing,” Cash says with a wave of his hand. Quickly, a thought pops into his head. “Hey, I’m in the middle of taking on the gym, and I need some training before the leader. Wanna spar?”

Cash mutters to himself, "Kids these days and their imaginations," but looks much more intrigued by the shiny Phantump. "You a collector of these Pokemon with strange colors?" he asks.

Cash dodges out of the way, barely becoming balanced as his Impidimp pulls on his side and his Phantump leans to get him back on his feet. “Thanks,” he mutters, looking back at the bike that almost hit him. “Kid?” He asks, more than a little confused.

Cash nods, and then rolls out of the Pokémon center. He pulls out both of his Pokémon, and they instantly take their places on his shoulder and head. As their now-familiar weight settled down, Cash wandered downtown, musing about the upcoming gym battle.

Cash nodded and passed over two Pokeballs.

Pic took it, and withdrew Phantump into its Pokeball. He healed his Pokémon at the Pokémon Center.

Cash went to celebrate with Phantump. “Nice work!” He said, nodding in respect. Phantom responded by floating up in triumph, then sagging down in exhaustion. Cash looked at the trainer. “Key?” He asked.

As Hex landed, so did Night Slash. Phantum was barely able to stand after that hit. “Push through! One more Hex!” Cash called.

Singe marks streak across Absol. “Now Hex!” Cash cried.

Impidimp was knocked out and pulled back into its Pokeball. Phantump floated off of Cash's head, and stood her ground. "Phantump, use Will-O-Wisp!" Cash encouraged. A spectral flame launched towards Absol and began homing in.

Impidimp had to take this hit to fire off its Dark Pulse, and it did a number. Impidimp was left standing, but it was close to knockout.

"Dark Pulse Again!" Cash called out, scoring a hit just as the dance finished.

Impidimp redirected the Dark Pulse so it still landed, but it was at the cost of taking the Night Slash. Both Pokemon tanked, and Impidimp looked bruised, but not broken. "Again, Gremlin!" Cash called out.

“Gremlin, Dark Pulse!”

Pic sent Impidimp in front of him. “Let’s get this done, then,” he sighed, smiling slightly.

“Do I get the key if I ask nicely?” Cash called.

Cash spent the afternoon eating lunch and discussing potential strategies with Impidimp and Phantump. As Cash portioned out food and ate at Kalos Kreme, the local pastry restaurant, Impidimp began to look with begrudging respect at Phantump the more Cash emphasized how useful it would be to have someone who could hit twice as hard after Impidimps trickery with Thunder Wave. ”Granted, that won’t work in this Gym it seems, and we are parting ways afterwards,” Cash finished. Phantump wilted once again, and even Impidimp looked neutral about this. Cash stayed silent for a moment and then said, “Well, time to head to the Gym.” Impidimp hopped up onto Cash’s shoulder, and Phantump hesitantly floated up to Cash’s eye level. Cash looked a bit confused, but when he and Impidimp had no further reaction, she floated onto Cash’s head and sat there as if she were a hat. Cash hesitated, and then shrugged. “Works for me,” he responded, and strolled to the third floor of the Gym. @Spark of Hope

Pic’s humming shifted from Aventine’s waltz to a softer lullaby. Pic sat in Aventine’s room for a long while, simply humming the tune. After he was sure Aventine was out, he slipped to the cafeteria and got some soup. He took a decent amount back to Aventine’s room and adjusted his humming to a soft, intense, fiery beat. His staves wrapped around the soup and gave off heat.

Cash took the key, walked out of the Gym, to the Pokecenter, and went to have a lunch break.
