  1. "This will require more thought," she decided. "At the moment, I'm trying not to step on your feet." "You should kidnap him," he suggested helpfully. "And go on vacation or something. That might help." Owch Shoe xD
  2. "Ah." He nodded. "I guess we're kind of in the same boat. We lost a lot of time, and now nothing's the same."
  3. "Well, it can't heal you if you're not still... working. It can't fix death." He paused. "How... why did Beosta bring me back, anyway?"
  4. "Well, it's the base potion for every cure in existence, actually. Depending on what's added, it can fix anything." His grin faltered. "Almost anything." Lady Bug cleared her throat. "I hereby dedicate-- Oh, hold on. I'll need a list of your favorite words to make it true to form."
  5. “Life saving medicine,” Gaioh said. “Sorry. But yeah, we cultivate it.” “Is that a yes?” Lady Bug demanded. She looked over her shoulder at Sasha, still dancing. “How does it sound, dedicating my profession to Bacon the Bard?”
  6. “I’ll dedicate my profession to you if you like.” The notebook appeared again. “And Lady Bug!”
  7. Lady Bug considered this, then grinned. “I shall begin writing my verses later today.”
  8. “Maybe I will,” she said archly, then grinned. “No, don’t worry. I’ll find my own. Stitch it together from the purposes everyone else left behind.” She paused. “I don’t make a very good poet, do I?”
  9. “It’s… nice, I think. I didn’t get out much. There’s a lot of stuff here I don’t understand, so I guess there have been a lot of technological innovations here. I’m from a town in the middle of nowhere. It’s an important town,” he added. “It’s the only place in the world for growing good Lisamine.”
  10. He nodded, looking off at the wall. "Yeah. Me too."
  11. I HEREBY DECLARE US BOTH TO BE SUCH AS WE DESIRE.
  12. "Oh good." He paused. "So... what are your plans? For life, I mean. Now that you're free."
  13. "I'm pretty good," he replied with a smile. "The brownies are really good. I've never tasted richer ones. How about you?" No Shoe don't hate my baby Beaaaaa T~T hehehe she'll find a way
  14. "I believe so, for now. My purpose is to find purpose." The notebook reappeared for emphasis. She smiled. "Perhaps someday I'll find one to take for myself."
  15. Gaioh waved to her, then hurried over. "There're so many people here, and I know, like, five by name. Sup?"
  16. Beosta left Livetha playing on a chandelier somewhere and moved outside, down beneath the deck among the fresh plants in the moist shade. She fluffed out her cloak, then settled to face the bay. That man had been... scary. Incredibly scary. She still remembered what he'd said. The monks screamed as they died. I killed the old one, you know, Navis? He begged me to spare the children. Just thinking it made her want to rip into his throat. The idea was accompanied by a wave of nausea, which she closed her eyes against. She wasn't a little kid anymore, she reminded herself. That man wasn't just a faceless bad guy. He wasn't just an entity in a game. There was a person behind him. She shouldn't want him dead. She shouldn't... But he'd been so vile. No. No! Stop thinking that way. Do you want it to happen again? She pushed images out of her mind. She wouldn't do that again. She wouldn't. Never. But that's why you wanted the crossblade, she thought. Not so you wouldn't kill, but so you wouldn't have to... to actually do it. Up close, at least. So you wouldn't have to feel that weight in your hand and see the glint of the blade right in front of your face. So you wouldn't have to see those eyes snap open, then glaze over. So you could pretend you're not a coward, her father's voice whispered. Beosta stood to pace. It wasn't cowardly. Not wanting to kill wasn't cowardly. It was merely merciful. Hopeful, even. Had there been any hope for that man? She pushed him out of her mind. She'd been avoiding him, to an extent. How did one apologize for murder? To the victim? She'd brought him back, yes, but that wasn't enough. In the wake of... of what she'd done, he'd lost everything. And he didn't even know it yet. His father was dead, his estate abandoned, Faothea happily married. Maybe he would have been better off unresuscitated. She scuffed the mud with her shoe. I brought him back selfishly, she realized. I brought him back so I could feel like a good person again. She wasn't a good person. She didn't deserve any of these people. Not Bacon, not Cricket... not even Bat. And especially not Shoe. So what could she do? What I've always done. She sighed, then looked up at the sky. Stick around and hope there's something I can do for them along the way. nobody has to respond to this if they don't want to, but I was bored and uh it happened so
