    She said something under her breath that probably wasn’t very nice. She rolled her eyes. “Rude. I’d like to see you stop me.” She raised her hands, palms outward, but nothing happened. She frowned. “Ke tol Xairim?” She muttered. This was interesting.

    There was no trace of him. She’d lash out probably tell them she was fine and didn’t need their help a younger version might be softer though. Like, <15ish she might be more quiet about it Aden set his book down for a moment. “I was dating her?”

    “Good.” Aden returned to his book. “Yes.” OH OKAY She shrugged. “I dunno where he went. Just that he’s not here now. He’s probably okay, though, if you haven’t heard anything from his Author.” Aden, still angry with everyone, ignored this.

    She sighed. “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, for one. For two, I have bigger problems than you. So if you don’t mind, I’ll be going.”

    “I want a Spirit Vessel!” Aden set down his book. “Good.” “It’s okay,” she whispered. The immediate and reflexive desire to call after her and beg him to stay was difficult to dismiss. He was halfway to his feet before he realized what was happening… But I’m still angry, he reminded himself. My family and my people are going to die because of her. Or… or something’s going to happen. He plopped back onto the ground and watched a leaf fall from the canopy. He felt kind of ashamed for yelling at her now. She’d been trying to… what had she been trying to do again? Something good. She was a good person. So why was he mad at her? The leaf settled on the ground, turning black and brittle like ash.

    Her expression flattened. “Really. I guess it has been a couple thousand years…” She cocked her head. “Huh? No, I hadn’t heard about that. Who are you, again? I don’t believe we’ve met…”

    He stomped his foot. “No, no! You don’t get it! If Rebus wants to compete with Malevolence, he’ll have to do something terrible, Tam! Something…” Unable to finish, he sat down against a tree and held his head in his hands. He grinned. “Yeah! So where do you wanna go?” She felt her face twist just a little, and she sorely wanted to look away. But she reached out instead.

If he wants to be a villain, he now has my ENTIRE CIVILIZATION as collateral, Tam. You might as well claim that stupid Plotblade yourself at this point.” He folded his arms, furious. Thank GOODNESS he hadn’t told her. Ahh ok He was unable to find anybody. - Rose turned again.
