  1. I tend to agree roughly with this. Both Skybreakers and Windrunners NEED to know what is right in order to fulfill their highest oath. Szeth has freely admitted that he doesn't know right from wrong which is why he attached himself to Dalinar. But later because of Dalinar's self doubts he questioned whether Dalinar was the definitive source. Kaladin and Syl also weren't sure what constituted right from wrong and eventually just went with what "felt right". But whether you are PROTECTING or DEFINING THE LAW, you need to identify the right side from the wrong side. I have a feeling this is why Szeth and Kaladin are together in Book 5. They will have multiple opportunities to confront right from wrong and I suspect that they will come to a combined understanding of how to do it although I have no idea what that is. Maybe the 5th oath for both will be: "Together with the other radiants, we will define what is right and what is wrong".
  2. Kaladin speaks the 3rd ideal "I will protect even those I hate, as long as it is right", but he doesn't define what is "right". In fact, not knowing who is "right" or "wrong" is an underlying theme for Kaladin throughout the books. He has long discussions with Syl on the topic and mostly Kaladin follow's Syl's lead, even though she says she doesn't know who is right and who is wrong. She just "feels" it. Is it right to kill Parshmen? Is it right to kill a friend? It is a basic moral issue and Kaladin must resolve it in order to fully achieve the highest status as Knight Radiant, similar to the Skybreakers' need to define the law. As others have said, Kaladin needs to have a leadership oath. Therefore I think the 5th ideal for Kaladin will be "I will take the responsibility to define what is right and what is wrong".
