  1. That is a good point, but I just can't picture a scene with Adonalsium and just white noise. It just doesn't seem very holy and magestic the way the Pure Tones are. I think that the Pure Tone of Adonalsium could have been split differently so different rhythms and aspects of it would have been assigned differently
  2. I agree, that sounds liek the sort of connection trick that he could pull off and that could bring those results. Also, he's probably using honors perpendicularity to transition them, just changing their connection wouldn't bring the spren into the physical realm.
  3. That,s true, we haven't seen none radiant spren tranition, that could be the case. I also thought the could just switch back and forth, tho I think it is hard ot remain intelligent without a radiant. it could be that Ishar somehow forced them through a perpendicularity or oathgate while they were injured and maybe used some sort of connection manipulation to tie them to the physical realm and caus ehtem to manifest bodies.
  4. Ok, so in RoW we see Dalinar find Ishar's creepy experiments of forcing spren into physical bodies in the physical realm. But how was he doing this? Whenever spren have entered the physical realm in the past, even through perpendicularities and the oathgates, they always reverted to their manifested form, like Pattern as his dimple on the ground and Syl as a ribbon of light. So is it some application of his Bondsmith abilities that allowed him to force the spren to manifest physical bodies or some sort of twisted power we don't know about yet?
  5. I agree, ruin and preservation changing into harmony has most certainly shifted their tones and has likely resulted in a new one. I mean since the Rhyth of War and Towerlght have their own tones despite being two tones combined, Adonalsium would just have a unique tone that somehow encompasses aspects of the tones of all 16 shards
  6. Pretty sure its the same prinicple that allows airpod pros to cancel out sound, they play a frequency that has the same waveform just 180 degrees different like Andy said. Because both are played at the same time they cancel out, but if either was payed alone they would sound the same. So essentially a fused is "playing" or connected to the tone of voidlight, so anti-voidlight cancels that out and hurts them, but to anyone else they are the same thing.
  7. Thanks! I've been reading theories on here for a while, but finally decided to make an account a few days ago. I totally forgot about that! I didn't give Dawnshard the in depth read I should have, gonna have go go reread those parts now!
  8. They are pieces of the soul or intent of Adonalsium, but Brandon has said it would have been possible for Adonalsium to have shattered into a different number of shards or 16 differnt shards, so I think the use of dawnshards affected which intents created shards
  9. That's true, but if I understand Connection correctly, which its very possible I don't, then Dalinar wouldn't actually have to change nightblood or his investiture, just connect him to another soure of investiture. And I don't recall seeing anything about it being harder to connect things that are highly invested. if anyting it seem that could be easier.
  10. But it wouldn't eat the elantrian that wrote the aon till the aon was eaten. So Dalinar would just have to make the connection that of nightblood and his wielder, not like the connection between nightblood and an aon
  11. If you were to wield Nightblood against this connection to the Dor then I do agree that it would be destroyed however.
  12. This is true but these were all things he was wielded agianst not wielded by. Technically the wielder is the gateway for their investiture to fuel nightblood, like Szeth with stormlight and Vasher with Biochroma, and he doesn't eat them till till they can't feed him any more. So if the connection Dalinar made was similar to the connection between sword and wielder than it should work just fine.
  13. Well nightblood would do that if you used an Aon to power him cause its not a big enough hole for enough investiture to fuel him to come through, but if Dalinar connects him to it without using an Aon then the gateway of inestiture to nightblood could be stabel enough to fuel him quite safely
  14. Alright this is my first theory post and I bet this theory will be somewhat shared by most people and has probably even been posted before, but I haven't found it if it has and I haven't seen any WoBs that directly approve or disoprove of it. So here it goes. My basic theory is that the dawshards were used to shatter Adonalsium, or were at least a fundamental component of the weapon or technique used to shatter it. Brandon has stated that the dawnshards were created post Adonalsium but pre-shattering so I think that they are fundamentally related to Adonalsium and this is how they were able to shatter it. My secondary theory to go along with this is that the intent and commands of the dawnshards influenced the intents and commands of the resulting Shards of Adonalsium. We have seen the Dawnshard of Change in the novella and this could obviously be related to Ruin and Cultivation who both work towards differnt types of change. Also, Preservation could be related to a dawnshard with an intent along the lines of protecting or making things remain the same, and this could be the dawnshard Hoid possesed that has made him unable to harm others or eat meat, becuase he can no longer do things that would harm other living creatures. So thats pretty much it, I'm still new to 17th shard so I'm not sure if I've looked over all the sources I could have, but I just saw this connection and it seemed strong enough to put out their. Below is the WoB that dawnshards were post Adonalsium but pre-shattering. Gary I was wondering if Dawnshards were created at the same time that Adonalsium was. Brandon Sanderson Dawnshards, I’ll have to RAFO that, mostly because my timeline for all the Yolen stuff, with the Adonalsium stuff, is going to depend on writing Dragonsteel. And right now, I intend those to be post-Adonalsium but pre-Shattering. But I can’t canonize that until I’ve actually written that mythology and lore. Because the original intent of the Dawnshards, when you read Dragonsteel Prime (which we’ll release with the Words of Radiance leatherbound), you will find two Dawnshards in there. And their original intent has changed a great deal as I’ve canonized things and really, really dug into building the cosmere. And you’ll see what my kind of original intent for those was. (Or at least I can talk about it.) And it’s changed since then. The way that they were in that book (and have remained so far) is that they are younger than Adonalsium. 15. I think that Harmony is probably fundamentally different enough to not be bound by any previous oaths from Ruin or Preservation. If they are melded to the point where Brandon says they will drop Harmony then his inability to act due to the conflicting forces is probably more similar to how when I get ice cream I'm conflicted about getting a large cs a small cause on one hand I want lots of ice cream, but on the other hand I know if I eat too many sweets I will get fat. They're just different views that are stronger than in most people because they come from a shardic source. Also, if the shardblades weren't alloys and were fundamentally different from the mixing of tanavastium and koravelium like harmonium/ettmetal they would have differnt qualities. However all shardblades have the same quality of being able to cut through anything and also sever souls, and no unique qualities, at least that we know of, and I think unique qualities is unlikely. Furthermore, the honorblades have the same quality and they are purely of honor so that shows that shardblades have not been fundamentally changed the way harmonium was, leading me to believe that Harmony is, if not a complete blend, a very mixed and intermingled combination of Ruin and Preservation, to the point of most likely being more combined than I think even Sazed realizes
