I certainly agree that there is clearly a mutual respect and understanding between them as honorable opponents, and it was even more exciting to see them interact as, well, not "allies" exactly, but at least NOT-opponents at the end.  It gave me a warm feeling, similar to the relationship between Navani and Raboniel - the idea that while we may be on "opposite" sides of a conflict, we don't have to wish destruction on each other.  That in the end, we are all just people, doing the best we can, and we can have hopes, dreams, and even goals in common.

Yes, @Kaladin Is a Hero, it is canon

      Reveal hidden contents

that both Horneaters and Herdazians have Singer ancestry (my mind was blown when I learned that)

so it's certainly not out of the question in THAT way.

I'm not even particularly troubled by the insanity of the Fused; Leshwi seems to be holding up pretty well, and how many of our beloved main characters DON'T have some kind of mental instability or challenge?  Renarin?  Shallan?  Kaladin has his own issues regarding mental health.  This need not, and should not, disqualify someone from having meaningful relationships.

There are other "details" that I think may be more relevant to the possibility a ROMANTIC relationship between Leshwi and Kal.  One is that Leshwi is currently inhabiting a male body.  Romantic dealbreaker for Kaladin?  Obviously it's up to him... but he's always come across as firmly cis / hetero to me (past girlfriends, surprised by Drehy's boyfriend, etc.).

I'm also worried about the fact that since Leshwi and her comrades seem to have left the service of Odium.  Are they going to find that to be a problem in terms of Investiture?  We've never seen how the Fused get refills of Voidlight; will it still be possible for the defectors?  Will they even be reborn if killed?  I have a feeling things are going to be very messy there.

Edit to add:  I'm also anticipating that Kaladin will be spending the bulk of Book 5 having adventures in Shinovar, which is just about as far from Leshwi as you can be on Roshar.

So I hate to be a buzzkill, but I think there are several reasons we will not see this romance, no matter how much we'd like it.

I actually want to see BrandoSando be daring enough to have it not bother kaladin that Leshwi inhibits a male body, romantically. Anyways, in my mind part of the "attractiveness," of the singers are their mesmerizing patterns on their skin and not as much their body itself.

  2. Hi all,

I was just thinking about ROW for the 1,000,000,000 time since I finished it-maybe that is a bit of an overreaction-and couldn't help but be invested in the relationship between Kaladin and Leshwi. Granted, they don't spend much time together in this book, but from their limited interactions, even though they are trying to kill each other for some of them, there is a respect hanging between the two, and a strange chemistry. Plus, throughout most of the book Leshwi attempts to protect Kaladin-her enemy-and at the end I think Kaladin offers refuge for her and her singers.

Also, I think BrandoSando has mentioned that in the past on Roshar there were Human-Singer couples and children. Aren't the Horneaters distant ancestors of Human-Singer cross breeding?

Anyway, I just want to see the relationship between these two grow, because I think it has a lot of potential and the chemistry and basic foundations are already there.

What do you all think about this potential Kaladin-Leshwi romance?

    Love you all!

  3. But I thought that the child of cultivation and Honor was the sibling, right?

Unless the sibling was created after Mishram was unmade and became Ba-Ado-Mishram.

There is, now that I think of it, some sort of interesting connection between the sibling and Ba-Ado-Mishram. Why did the Tower shut down when Mishram was imprisoned. It can't just be coincidence, right? Unless I am wrong and the sibling "fell asleep," when Honor died. I don't remember the explanation the book offered for this.

Anyway, I am interested in learning if BAM and the Sibling are connected. Book 5 is going to be a 1,000 paged Sanderson Avalanche and I am so ready for it!

  4. I don't know this contest is a mystery. All the suggestions I have seen so far are good and possible. But I feel like in the end the contest is going to turn out kind of like the scene with Taravangian ascending in this book. It will be unexpected, not the direction we were all expecting, but somehow the clues will all add up to make perfect sense.

Personally, I am a huge fan of the theory that @Xerun presented that Dalinar will fight Gavilar-as a cognitive shadow or something. Man, that would be dope, and it would make so much sense and expain why we have been seeing a different perspective of the night of his "death," in every book of the SA first half. With every book, we have dug deeper into Gavilars secret doings and I think that is very purposeful on Brandon's part. He would not keep revisiting Gavilar and his plans if they/he did not mean something significant for the present story.

    We'll see...

  5. Hi everyone,

Even though I have been lurking in the forums for a while, I never made an account until recently.

I am a huge BrandoSando Fan, a huge Comsere fan, and just a fan of writing and fantasy in general.

My main reason for joining the forums is, however, to be in involved in "Reading Excuses." I am a bit confused about the rules and codes of the "Reading excuses," forum so if someone could point me to somewhere where all that is made clear I would greatly appreciate it!

I am so excited to officially be a part of the 17th shard!

  6. Hi! And thank you I definitely will post in the introduction forum.

    So,

    1) In the Stormlight Archive, my favorite character has got to be Szeth, even though we haven't had a ton of him throughout the series. I enjoy the mystery surrounding his backstory and also I just want to give him a hug. Szeth is in such need of a hug. I hope Kaladin gives him one in Book 5. Anyway I can't wait for his flashbacks! I think in the whole cosmere my favorite character is Marsh-Kelsier's brother from Mistborn. A bit of a weird pick ,yeah, but I have a lot of respect for the journey he underwent in the first Mistborn trilogy. The dude became a beast! I also immensely enjoy Wit/Hoid/Sephandrius. Of course, I hate the obligatory Moash from the SA and from the general cosmere Elends Father sticks out to me as a major, major d-dag.

    2) I want to be Bondsmith but I am Cryptic.

    3)  The power to burn Bronze.

    4) Right now Brass-but of course I would have decided this a while ago- so I could have started to store warmth. Because it is winter and it is very cold.

    5) Hmm.. good question. I guess Electrum and Bendalloy might be interesting.

    6) The power of a Bondsmith-you might find that to be my answer quite often.

    7) My favorite Cosmere book of Brandon's by far is Way of kings!!! Just, oh my god, the sheer magnitude of epic characters, all in different times and chapters in their stories, just shined on the page so much. And the setup and execution of the events at the Tower was so powerful on all sides that it was truly that sequence of scenes that made me fall in love with Brandon's writing skills.

  7. Hi everyone, this is my first time on this forum and my first post ever!!!! I apologize if my English isn't great, it is not my first language.

I love everything eveyone has to say. Such cool theorizing and the community is just so smart!

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I have seen a lot of debate about whether Honor the shard will be reforged in Book 5 and specifically it being associated with either Dalinar or Kaladin.

My personal hot take is that I think Dalinar will reforge the Shard of Honor, as a Bondsmith, while Kalaldin whose intent is lined with Honors will ascend to take up the Shard.

    Love you all.
