  1. "Oh, easy enough." Vulpy dusted his hands off. "Something to do with mining the sparkly stuff, I'm sure. Although what it is an' what it does is beyond me. But I'm more than eager to find out if you wanna help me." "He is . . ." The Corpse made a hissing noise, and spoke the next word as if it were poison to its tongue. "A Narrator . . . None are harmless."
  2. "Came here . . . Fell . . . Before me . . . Taken away . . ." A vague sense of frustration entered the creature's voice, but it watched this boss carefully. Angering a being this powerful in their own domain was unadvisable, but might be necessary if Phoenix was to be dealt with.
  3. "Name . . ." The creature breathed deeply, though it wasn't clear if it needed to. "Pheo . . . Nix."
  4. The Corpse nodded with a soft growl. "Followed . . . But lost . . . It . . ."
  5. "Fell . . . Chasing . . ." It repeated. "Chasing Narrator."
  6. The creature nodded, remembering the gesture to be one of confirmation. Far easier than speaking.
  7. "Betrayed . . ." The Corpse's voice sounded raspy, and as if it had to struggle to speak. "Betrayed . . . And fell . . . Chasing . . ."
  8. The best word available to describe the creature that walked through the doors was rotting. It might have been human once, but its gender was undiscernible due to the sagging flesh that was decaying right off of the bones. The walking Corpse strode into the room with a power and confidence that betrayed its physical appearance, looking to have the strength greater than that of any man. It glanced around the room, obviously tense as it began to growl softly through its damaged throat.
  9. Hearing the shift in her tone, Vulpy turned around to see a curious sight. "Uh, no offense pal, but you don't look like you belong here." In a moment, he shook his head to clear it before smiling again. "What brings you to our humble plane intended for our torment?" ------ Glaring at the guard who came in to try and grab it, The Corpse followed the men in a tense manner. At any moment it looked ready to pounce on the poor mortals that surrounded it. However, it could sense their fear. In the way they snuck worried glances towards the creature, how they twitched at its slightest movements. They had all seen the dozen rotting cadavers it had made out of those who had tried to seize it before, they knew how effortlessly it had worked death among the mortals, the slightest injury it caused proving fatal to any. Blades and all manner of weapons had proven useless. It just needed to strike. But following them held a promise, a way of finding out who led these men who, despite all the death that the Corpse had worked among them, still worked to capture it. Whomever led them must be powerful, indeed. It wasn't long before they approached a door that could make the bravest god tremble in fear, but when one challenged the gods themselves, fear was simply not an option. Besides, such a place was built purely as a tool for intimidation. It scoffed as they men came to a standstill before the door as another went forward to announce their presence to whomever was in command, here. @Channelknight Fadran
  10. Welcome aboard, Sharder! How are you doing?
  11. Vulpine looked up for a moment, but decided to turn towards the wall with a critical eye. He nodded thoughtfully as he tapped his chin, trying to look as if he knew what to look for.
  12. A few things have happened recently, so I figured I should update y'all, given that it concerns you.

The first of all is that I've received my Mission Call. For those of you who don't know what that means, I'll basically be inactive for roughly two years starting the latter end of this upcoming March. For that time, I'll be serving others in areas that my church sees that's in need.

Now, there has been a bit of unfortunate timing on my part, but little can be done about that. I had a fascinating idea for a Role play thread. Recently I delved into the lore of the Fallout franchise, and thought "What if this, but magic fantasy?" There will be more details to come.

On a smaller note, I have gotten back into arting. I am nowhere as good as some of my friends on the Shard- *Cough Cough* @Mystic Syn, @revelryintheart and @Zephrun's Imperium are all incredible artists, check them out *Cough Cough* but I can scratch out a few lines on a piece of paper. I don't do character work, mainly just cartography. I've been obsessed with Geography forever, and I started getting into it as I made custom settings for whenever I played the Table-top RPG game, D&D. Since then, my skills at making the squiggly lines fancy have sort of improved a little bit over time. It's still not all that good, as I am trying to figure out my "style," but I appreciate any and all constructive feedback. I don't know if I will, though . . .

Minor beat compared to the first bomb shell, but something very important to me; I feel that I might have overstepped a few boundaries in some areas. If I have, then contact me personally, and I will do all that i can to correct this. The last thing I ever want to do is make anyone feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or unimportant. You all matter to me, and I could never forgive myself if I did anything wrong to you.

On a more whimsical bit, I found out that there are Bacon flavored Cheez-Its, and I've decided that I'll never buy them again.

What else . . . Oh yeah, I should be getting a Lightsaber in the mail, soon. That will be fun.

A tiny little baby thing, my brother is returning from his own mission a few weeks before I leave, so that's very fortunate timing on that side of things. He has an account on the Shard, and was very active back before I joined up. I'm interested to se how he'll handle his return.

I think that's enough from me. Take care of yourself, 'kay?

Congrats on the mission call! If you're comfortable with it, I'd love to be on your email list!

Of course. Just send me the appropriate information.

  13. The sudden surge of power from Star made the Corpse stumble as it saw the void that Pheo had fallen through. It tried to stop the forward momentum, but it could feel that it was too late. Getting in one last glare back towards its master, The Corpse would have to find a way to return to be sure that she was dead. Just as that thought finished, Star fell out of view, and the strange sense of weightlessness overtook the decaying body as the void consumed it. Darkness all around it, suffocating in its completeness as even the light of the door above faded, and the Corpse fell.
  14. Shoving its former "master" to the ground for her to die in her own blood, the Corpse stepped forward with a quick, methodical step. Chasing Pheo, it lunged through the door. This madness was going to be brought to an end. Now.
  15. The blade . . . Without it, Star couldn't do the deed. Faster than an eye could blink, the Corpse fully understood that Star couldn't or wouldn't fulfil their oath. She was useless. Worst than useless, she knew what the Corpse's intent was, and she was the only Narrator with the ability to control its mind. She had to be stopped. In on fluid movement, completely lacking in hatred or anger, it jabbed it's arm towards the woman's Core. If she couldn't control herself, then she would only be a liability. The alloy of decay shot through the Corpse's hand, aiming for the fatal blow against the Narrator.
  16. You know that moment when you start doing something, like say a video game, and you're just like "Oh, I'll just do this minor task, it will only be a few minutes." Then, it escalates to something like trying to stop a galactic scale genocide, or finish writing/reading a scene, and then you do it. But then something else happens, and you're like "well, I would just hate to leave this unfinished." And then boom, it's midnight, and you wanted to be in bed by 9.

    No one? Just me?

    'kay.

Did I mention the galactic genocide thing? Because I might have been misleading when I said I was "stopping" it.

The word I was looking for was probably "causing."

Me too, and it's usually the Shard that causes it.

  17. The Corpse watched for a moment. It didn't take a psychic to realize that Star was . . . Distracted was the wrong word. However, it intended to watch for the time being. Perhaps she had a plot, or she could be trying a far more subtle approach to handling this situation by building trust with this Narrator, so others might here of that to dissuade them from believing any rumors about murder. It would watch. Carefully.
  18. The body glared at Star, not stopping in its advance. We agreed . . . All of them.
  19. The Corpse advanced methodically. Star obviously was having trouble with this one. End him . . . Quickly.
  20. Yes, get closer to the Narrator. Use the blade it had given her, and end the young man. Now,
  21. The blade . . . The Corpse focused intensely on those words. She could get close to him as before, then end him herself without worrying about him allowing the Corpse to get close. She just needed to use The blade . . . Use it . . .
  22. The Corpse growled within its mind, but pulled back. It didn't sit, this was too good of an opportunity to not take. This Narrator had walked into them. Besides, if word got out about what was happening . . . The Narrator had to be killed.
  23. Sensing another's presence, Corpse spun around. Its bones were at the ready, and it prepared to lunge for the kill.
  24. Vulpine turned towards Ille, rubbing his hands together. "So, what's the workload for today?" @Channelknight Fadran
  25. He backed up a few steps. "Better? I doubt you can smell me from this far away."
