  1. My theory is that Shardplates are a portion of the Radiants' cognitive aspect, manifesting in the physical realm by a mechanism analogous to that of living Shardblades. This idea originates because current Plates seem to be sensitive to it's bearers minds: they adapt to the shape of the bearer's body and some experienced ones can even give mental orders to their Plate, for example, causing a part to come off the rest. We know that the more Radiants progress in their order, the closer they are to their spren. I even think I remember something about their Spiritwebs becoming more intermingled with each step of this process. We also know that spren have the ability to manifest in the physical realm in the form of metal. Knowing this, it seems possible to me that the Nahel bond may eventually grant the Radiants the ability to bring into the physical realm part of their cognitive aspect, which is shaped around their bodies due to being an extension of the way they view themselves. In my opinion, this would explain better than the current theory —Shardplates being minor spren— why Syl doesn't hate those who use current Plates like those who use dead Blades. For in their creation during the Recreance, no spren —not even sub-sentient ones— were harmed, but the very Radiants who broke their oaths were.
  2. This is an interesting idea. Jezrien and Kelek being blind because they can't foresee the consequenses of their actions. But if we were to take the story a little more literaly, there are things that don't match: One of the men prays to the God Beyond instead of the Allmighty, and at least him is physicaly blind. I think the story was about Hoid himself and someone else in a time arround the Shattering. Hoid being only spiritualy blind, as he says in the epilogue. Wish we could read the first man's last reply. Although, maybe Hoid choose that specific story for it's similarity with Taln's situation.
  3. It's unlikely, but if it was a Divine Breath? Thank you!
  4. So, I was watching a Youtube video about TWOK where spanish streamer Alexelcapo points out to the chapter 57 epigraph, which is this Death Rattle: "I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw." He then says the 'breath' could be refering to BioChromatic Breath. If this is right, then the POV character of the Rattle is about to kill a newborn to get their Breath. But there are some inconsistencies. We know that normally one can't steal Breath, nor even give it by accident, it has to be given with intent (Intent?), which is something a baby can't do. So, is it possible that the knife in the Rattle is to be used as a hemalurgic spike? The 'let the blade slip' part could mean 'pierce' instead of 'cut their throat'. What I imagine is a scenario in which a group is in dire need of magic to survive something that has already killed many, but their only source of Investidure is the Breath of a newborn who, unable to talk, is unable to use it. So the leader of the group faces the desicion of whether or not to take away their Breath through hemalurgy to save the rest.
  5. Thank you! Yeah, it took like a year to convince her. But now she's totally into it.
  6. Oh, my. I'll be more careful Thank you
  7. Thank you very much!! It must be one among Marquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude", "Les Misérables", and Clarke's (and McQuay's) "Richter 10"
  8. @Mist, @Aon Ene, @Emi, @R J, @Merlin Thank you all for your messages. You trully make us newcomers feel welcome.
  9. I think I will. Thank you!
  10. Thank you! I'll have it happily.
  11. Dont worry, we all have things to do IRL. I should be getting to sleep soon, indeed. It's funny, my mom also wants to be a windrunner so she could fly; that and Kaladin being her favourite character. That's a great dream you have! I'm tempted to ask you more about it. Then again, it's already 1 am over here. Also, you might want to keep the details for yourself from a stranger. Anyway, I wish you good luck with it! (This is not to undermine you effort. I believe if you are already doing everything you can, then luck doesn't hurt)
  12. Oh, that's a good reason. It'd be horrible to have a power you don't like to use. I think I'd also go for steel. Speed might be fun to use and to store. Though, copper and tin are very tempting.
  13. @R J Thank you! I think I'd be a coinshot, so I could move freely around the city. (I spend around 3 hours to going to, and coming back from school... Well, I used to, before all this) What about you? PS: I like your quote from Cloud Atlas, by the way.
  14. They are. Although Cultivation's perpendicularity is on the Horneater Peaks, so they are the most probable people to have worldhopper heritage. Then again, it doesn't seem this has been foreshadowed, so it is very unlikely. This is a good point I didn't take into account, and is a very reasonable explanation. Man... I wish it was 2021 already.
  15. This is a long shot, but part of me believes it has something to do with some metalic art. Maybe he is a Thug? Altough, I don't remember any mention of there being pewter in Roshar. Anyway, your idea of it being due to his interactions with spren is more logical. Now I want to read a Lunamor + Navani chapter too.
  16. Status: Hyped over SA4

  17. Hi @Emi ! I'd love to be an edgedancer. Their oaths align well with my way of seeing the world. Plus, being under the command of Lift has to be super fun. What about you?
  18. Thanks. Glad to be here. Well, Lift is my favourite Sanderson character, so I'm hoping she has at least one chapter. But what I'm really looking forward is for the Lirin POVs. Kaladin's parents hold a special place in my hearth.
  19. Thanks. I already read the whole current Cosmere, Reckoners and Skyward. My favourite book so far has been Hero of Ages.
  20. Hi everyone. I've been reading Sanderson for about 2 years, but just now it occurred to me to join the forums. Current status: Hyped over SA4.
