Mundric sat alone, in his small hat stand. Night had fallen, but students still stood and spoke with one another, albeit in hushed tones. Mundric exhaled softly. This was terrifying. Who would take care of his hats if he died? As his father always said: "Once the hat is torn, limbs will soon be shorn." Mundric surreptitiously clutched his knitted sombrero closer around him. The hat was wide and warm, but a pervading cold filled him. His signature triple-tier top hat seemed to chafe his head. A single scrap of leather fell to the floor. -- Edit: This is nerve-racking.

Speak not of that accursed cutlery game! Fork-knife is a disease upon this land.

That is a possibility, I suppose. I think whatever force is misdirecting our scans is enough balance on its own though, depending on its scope. My suspicion of Devotary has been heightened by the lack of any defense on their part, with their only comments not responding to accusations. And let's not forget that people can lie about their scan results, though there seems to be little point in that since no one knows what's really going on.

Again, I scanned Striker and got Village. That's what started this whole fiasco.

I'll sign up as Mundric Petasum, an errant hat merchant who found favor with the lord of a house. I can be pretty active, but am quite new to the game. Let's do this.
-
Mundric paced around the hall, ideas racing through his head while storms of deliberation raged without it. No one knew whom to trust. There was deception at every turn. Mundric kept a clear head and took a deep breath. Whatever happens, I'll always have my hats. He silently cursed the letter he'd recieved. He began to suspect the student that had destroyed the records was no student after all. He felt he was dancing to the movements of an unseen hand. If the Lord Mistborn controlled the school, what did he mean in bringing identical talents and not telling them? Or was something else at work? He shook his head and continued to work on knitting his sombrero. -- What am I even supposed to say or do? I suppose I'll place a vote on Devotary for now. His vote was definitely suspicious, but I'm not really certain of anything right now. With all or most of us being Tineyes, and some mysterious "types" at work, I am quite befuddled. Are all games this obtuse? Also I really wish I had PM's. Now I understand why the initial post was tagged with "im laughing right now" and "this will be hilarious."

Okay, so let me blow the GM (and everyone else's) minds with my incredibly prescient theory (maybe.) For starters, we know that all students are likely Tineyes. I will confess to being one myself. Tineyes are all about senses and knowledge, so they likely discover something. Since roles seem to be all Tineyes, then being one gives the ability to uncover alignment (the only hidden fact about a player). My ability does, at least, and if all the roles are identical others will too. At first glance, this theory may seem flawed. Why would the elims, of all people, need that ability? To blend in. If all the abilities are the same, then the villagers can identify each other by knowing who has the ability and what it does. But here is the real secret. Did anyone use the Tineye ability on Striker or Straw (the only players with confirmed alignment?) I selected Striker for my target before the end... and learned something crucial. My result was that he was Village. Unless the GM made an error, then some or all of our abilities lie to us. Those are the "types" they mentioned. Normal Tineyes... and those whose eyes lie. I'll dub them Tinlies until further info. There might also be rolescout Tineyes, but since my ability was listed as "learn alignment" and no one knows their type, it would work incorrectly immediately, unless the GM actually gives different descriptions to the same role with different types. I think there are at least two types, maybe as many as four. Tineyes, Tinlies, Tinroles, and Tinrolies, at maximum. Mind blown? Maybe. Maybe. I'm really hesitant to post this, as it may get me hunted down. I'm laying all my knowledge bare, do with it as you will.

A very interesting question. I have a theory about that. But first let us ask the question: What does a Tineye do?

- from last cycle - Mundric sighed. "New customers, I guess? Business has been going downhill lately - likely the work of those absolute frayers Ablott and Scring. Their products have no style at all! I would know - I wrote The Way of (the Hats of) Kings, after all. But they get their Allomancers doing the performances, and suddenly the masses flock to their doors. Depressing. But the hats spin as the hats spin, as my grandfather always said." He paused. "What about you? What are you hoping to find here?" - new stuff - "Fire. Terrible material for hats." Mundric hummed. "It simply doesn't work." He hailed Elias. "Well done exiling that cheat. Deception cannot be condoned." He returned to shuffling his hats as he murmured the next few verses of the anthem. Study is study Now we cast our eyes Where Education flies Morals not be muddy All things we learn may they not burn All times that turn We shall not spurn Educatiooooooooonnnn... Our school's a school and that's how it will stay! -- All right. I have had an interesting revelation. I think I understand the types now. If I'm right... oh boy. This will be an exciting one. For now, I'll place my vote on Coda. Added a vote to a single target and ran off. No one else seems terribly suspicious at the moment.

Mundric sat, cheerfully offering hats to the people milling about the hall. He amused himself by humming the school anthem they had been asked to rise for earlier. It had a simple tune and truly poetic lyrics. He hummed along to the first two stanzas: This school is a school Where we learn our ways Allomancies for days It does not have a pool This place is a place Where we know our things Though Education stings Don't hit us with a mace -- I suppose I'm personally in favor of a majority lynch just to understand the roles further. I also have a role with an Allomantic ability, but there was no information given on the Type or what a Type implied, so that might be helpful to know.

"Hats are my trade. That one in particular was one of my personal creations. I traded for the materials with waxen sombreros, and put it together a few weeks ago. I sadly didn't bring most of my stock, but I do have a few with me." Mundric paused. "Go ahead and take the hat. A gift from me to you. I should bring the rest of my wares in. It looks like rain." Mundric jaunted over to the door and struggled to haul his heavy case of hats through. Once the task was complete, he began to lay out a small stand in an alcove of the hall, positioning his array of hats alongside price tags and his signature logo - a stylized picture of his triple-tier top hat. Once that was done, he set out a chair and sighed contentedly. Even here, he was at home.

Mundric stepped up to Elias, greeting him with a friendly voice. "Come now, cheer up. We are among potential friends here. Potentially. Maybe they all want to murder us. But don't let that get you down!" Mundric remembered himself. "Oh, quite sorry. I haven't introduced myself. I am Mundric, purveyor of hats, hat accessories, and guides to style in the department of hats! Care for some headwear to warm up that gloomy countenance?" He flourished a dark red beret, festooned with lime green tassels, waiting for a reply.

Thanks @Devotary of Spontaneity. Unused to the format am I. Posted my initial comment in the wrong thread, so let me go ahead and redo it here. -- Mundric shook his head. It did no good to dwell on the past. He had made his way to merchanthood through honest work, and he wasn't about to throw away the privileges that the position gave. He refused Ecra's plea, and sent him back to the streets. "I told you I'm done with that. Get out of my house. You're dead to me." As he returned to his desk, he noticed a piece of paper sitting there. A letter. It hadn't been there a few minutes ago, when Ecra called at the door. Curious, he unfolded it. As his eyes scanned the page, a thoughtful smile spread across his face. This opportunity would be quite interesting. He didn't mind the suspicion surrounding the event - honesty had taken him this far, and there was no reason it shouldn't continue doing so. He gathered his possessions quickly. His files he left in safekeeping, as he traveled alone to the doors of an imposing building. Showing the letter, he stepped inside to reveal a looming hall scattered with other hopefuls. He ignored the whispers and pointing at his signature triple-tiered top hat, and strode to the other side of the room. He leaned against a wall, content for now to rest and wait. Mundric awoke with a start, feeling a jab in his side. He swiped his hand out, but the perpetrator was already running away, chuckling audibly. Mundric glared into the figure's back, but sighed. I suppose it's my fault for falling asleep. He still resented the poke, though. As Mundric looked around, his eyes settled on a rather elderly man in clothing that could be labeled ...outlandish at best. His beard was clumsily dyed, and his hair was gnarled, twisting strands of battling grey and brown. He wore what appeared to be a vest composed of two violently contrasting vests that had been ripped in half and sewed together, one side of each. A canvas wrap covered the man's legs, decorated with images of small wild animals. Mundric snorted. Fasion these days. The man's hat was a narrow brass cone perched atop the center of his head, for giblet's sake! Not like Mundric's stylish triple-tiered top hat. That man clearly could not be trusted. Mundric stroked his hat contentedly. No matter the suffering around him, principles and a hat would see him through. -- Now let's take a look at the situation. I am not particularly well versed in the art of this game, but my instincts suggest that there really isn't enough information to sway my vote any particular way. Perhaps the absent Lemonelon - he can be that elderly man I mentioned. I agree that revealing roles at this point serves little purpose. Things are getting interesting.

New to this forum, but I'm up for a game of any length, preferably with simple rules.
