  1. I'm going to write more! Whether that be short stories, the Iconar Collective, or random junk, I'm just going to do it M O R E.
  2. "If you would just like to candidly chat with me about something, then that works to, because... well..." Fadran took a seat on a stump. "Listen, man. I didn't ask to be put in charge of you guys, this army, or... well, any of this. The point remains that I am, though, so I'm doing my best. Unfortunately, I'm no more perfect than any of the rest of you, and from the position I've been placed, every mistake I make affects you guys as much as myself." He fiddled with something on his wrist; something he did when uncomfortable. "And now Vapor's trapped in a primordial god's pocket dimension, devoid of any clue about who she is or who we are. That's my fault. Both you and her are paying a price that I could've very well avoided for you two. "So... in the end, I guess it's kind of a selfish thing, asking you to yell at me. A sort of self-imposed punishment to prove that I'm not a perfect leader, a perfect friend, or a perfect person, because being perfect would be a scudding ton of responsibility." Fadran wrung his hands. "Despite all that, though, this is still your trial, though. Tell me how to help you. Please."
  3. "Well, it helps that this device doesn't come from the Cosmere."
  4. "I'm Ollie! Who are you?"
  5. Ollie peeked down the mountain. "Hello?"
  6. "Different polarity? My friend, this machine was created in a universe where Investiture isn't even a thing."
  7. "It can get us to the Cognitive Realm, but not by Investiture."
  8. Fadran took him behind the tent where they wouldn't be overheard. "If you would like to yell at me," Fadran said, "now would be the time."
  9. Stepping through the portal, ash in two, Fadran stretched widely. "Alrighty! Chrysler, if you could get to training those soldiers, that'd be appreciated. Nath... do whatever it is that you need to be doing, and Jek..." He looked at the young man. "Would you come with me, please?" @Negative_Null @Nathrangking @Vapor
  10. Ollie's tiny heart started beating twice as fast. "Phaedrus will keep us safe," she repeated.
  11. "Not the souls of Sjor, if that's what you're wondering."
  12. "Are all the stories true? Do they really eat kippies?"
  13. "Have you seen them before?" Ollie asked. "Before today, I mean."
  14. "We'll be fine. Phaedrus will keep us safe." Ollie giggled a little as Pebble began gnawing on her paw.
  15. "Yep. Let's find somewhere to get some sleep."
  16. "I don't know. I've never seen her this way before."
  17. "She went behind a cloud."
  18. Trace waited at mansion, tapping her foot impatiently. She wiped the blood off her arms, using an expensive pocket handkerchief she had knicked from one of the noblemen. Janice was taking a long time to think of a reason. It's... I'm always hurting. I don't want anyone else to hurt like I do. "So it's a selfish thing?" Trace asked, picking at a bit of dried blood. What? I don't... "You don't want anyone else to hurt like you do? Because if anyone else hurt more than you did, then you would have to stop complaining about your own pain. You have to be the top of the chain." No! That's not it at all! No one else should hurt like I do! "You need to keep your pain to yourself." If I could stop hurting, I would! "It's okay, Janice. You're allowed to let other people understand how you feel." But I don't want them to! "You will. One day." Trace grunted as she got the scab off. "I'll make sure of it."
  19. Nobody had survived. It was kind of beautiful, actually. No blood, no faces of agony... just a mess of bodies and scraps. Everyone gone in instants. Trace would've loved to enjoy it, if someone wasn't whimpering in the back of her mind. "Would you please shut up?" Trace asked. Janice shivered. You just... we just... "Think clearly, girl. I can't understand you." Why... Why...? "Why what?" Why am I... so capable of hurting people? Trace stepped around a body, blowing out a candle that hadn't been put out. She smiled at the thought of investigators arriving to an explosion sight, only to find an uncanny lack of fire. "That's because you were meant to heart people. I am not! I hate hurting people! "And why is that?" Trace asked, examining a dropped sword that had survived the blast. "Why is it that you don't like hurting others?" It's because... because... I don't know! Trace smiled. All was going according to plan.
