What? No! I was responding to the idea of ploticsl marriage in general on Roshar. I definitely think Kaladin would reject anyone who tried to marry him for anything other than true love.
-
Marrying your son/daughter to a radiant would make them a target for anyone wanting to remove the radiants from the picture...

I feel like an opposite Hoid (Dioh, as i’ll now call him) would run around changing things and complementing people.

I do not think so. He wears white because it is the Parshendi who hired him. They think that an assassins should wear white so the victim has a fair warning. Hope this helps!

Granted. But now nobody will reply back when you text them I wish for a credit card with all the money I could want on it. -
@Oltux72You might be right. However, most of these could have apprehensions about handing over their daughters to a former slave/dark eyes. On top of that, he still is branded as dangerous. Also what @Inkysays. Not much time for politics in the apocalypse.

Translating the Radiant Glyphs and Surges
Bookish Ocelot replied to Bookish Ocelot's topic in Stormlight Archive
@JofwuThank you for your input! I made this its own thread because I think the oathbringer thread is for understanding the glyphs and grammar. I am applying that knowledge. That thread is also long dead. I realize that it’ll translate into something odd, but it could help us get an idea of how the language works. If these do end up correct, that could give us hints for the next set of glyphs as well as how to create our own.- 10 replies

Y'all might remember @Harakeke's thread from a while back about glyph translation. I decided I will try and translate the Radiant, Surge, and Fundamental Glyphs. Yes, I know the WoB about the original glyphs not being supposed to translate. Yes, I realize it'll probably be nonsense. Here goes. Notes: I am using an online editor called Photopea. It is free and works the same, and as well as photoshop. I know this because I have worked with photoshop. I am retrieving glyph translations from the Coppermind. Any and all assistance with this project is appreciated. Update 1: 3-19-19 Started translation on ten fundamental glyphs. Finished with 3/10. Letters in parenthesis are unconfirmed or not existing but added for understanding (Like Thaylen)

That seems like a good idea. I ship all three sides (Shaladin, Shadolin, and Kadolin) but Shaladin is my favorite. I can see logical arguments for all three, arguments why none would happen. It's really a great place to be. Anyone can speak their opinion - Brandon won't confirm or deny anything. I feel like there was a WOB saying Adolin was straight but I can't find it.
-
Yeah. I've actually been on here for a while but didn't create an account until recently. I've read a lot (and i mean a lot.) of posts on here. I happened to be looking into all things Shakadolin when I first got into the series.
-
@deaconThanks! Look, here's an entire thread about it!
-
@deaconYep guys there's our conclusion. Kadolin for the win.
-
@Karger@deaconI sort of think what SLNC is saying. If you've ever been in love with someone, you think about them a lot. Like all the time. Just a small thing can bring them up. Ex: Oh that flower is the color of ABC's eyes, that's the place where we met, they made that joke to me, etc. I care about my parents and siblings, but I'm not romantic towards them.

Why talk about Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson when you could talk about Numuhukumakiaki "Rock" 'aialunamor?

In retrospect, y'all are probably right. I am probably suffering from wanting a ship to sail wee bit too much. Welp.

Like their impending doom?

The no mating issue was after he was assigned as their chaperone... Adolin would probably be chill with Shallan doing whatever- their marriage was originally intended to be political. So long as he or Renarin produced a male heir, there wouldn't be any problems. The Vorin church would catch on fire if they found out though. So maybe Shaladin isn't the most viable choice. (but that won't stop me from shipping it)
-
@Angsos You're probably right. I was thinking along the lines of Adolin. Their relationship greatly progresses throughout Oathbringer and I feel like they would become close friends, especially after Kaladin saved Adolin from certain death in the arena. My opinion is that Kaladin needs a friend, someone that he could open up to with his many (and boy do I mean many) issues. This person could be Shallan, as she is a fellow Radiant and is also used to dealing with grief and depression. This could also open the floor for romance. I know the above is quoted in like every other post on this board. Sorry. One theory is that they will try and fail to have a romance- Veil will go have an affair, Kaladin will be a helicopter (perhaps literally), etc. (This is discounting Shallan's marriage which was primarily political. It's pretty clear that Adolin is infatuated with Shallan. She is as well, but it's primarily on a physical level. When she speaks about Kaladin, it is commenting on his bravery/loyalty/willingness to sacrifice.
-
I think it would be really cool if he had a relationship (not necessarily romantic)* that helped him get over his fear of failure to save and this relationship also allowed him to advance in oaths. Though first he would obviously have to overcome his grief for Elhokar, Tien, and his bridgemen that were lost in The Battle of the Tower. *though I really want it to be

The Sequel Somebody, please redo these as trashy romance. -
@Pathfinder I think that Adolin treating the personalities as seperate is exasperating the problem. I feel like Kaladin would be a better fit for Shallan as he understands how she leads separate lives and is dealing with grief.
