  1. My two Zinc compounder twins for the Alleyverse Prequel Thread, Kaspar and Balthazar, all dressed up and ready for trouble. Featuring Kaspar's bonesaw, "Enlightenment," and Balthazar's scalpel, "Brevity" (it's the soul of wit! ).
  2. Thanks. I think I would like to add this to the sheet. I'd like to explore the brothers' abusing this in a kind of slow burn way, but they will start the RP with a dependency already, and this will only increase over time. I think that the drug use and dependency will also likely further fracture their minds, and increase their paranoia over the possibility of their dead brother haunting them. I expect both brothers to be pitching and yawing from one extreme to another by the end of the plot line: really high highs and really low lows. Paranoia, dependency, pride, obsession, denying they have a problem, then trying to find a "better" solution, etc, etc, all this combined with an increased desire to "solve" the problem of their missing third brother. Basically they will be an incredibly brilliant mess.
  3. I really don't want to take the spikes away, so I'll be thinking up another weakness for them. I'm having a little trouble in this department though. Should I post in the AV Character Discussion thread for that? Edit: I originally considered giving the twins bipolar disorder, which I thought would fit well with the cycle of tapping and storing Zinc. Mania followed by a period of depression - their abilities and this problem could feed rather nastily off one another. But I do recall there being some reticence over giving characters this disorder in the past. I also considered going the Sherlock Holmes route and have the twins experiment with various drugs, effectively to get their body to "keep up" with their minds. As medical experts, they would be well aware of the effects of cocaine, or various amphetamines, and as arrogant little prats, they would probably overestimate their ability to fight addiction, slowly succumbing instead over time. I'd like feedback on either of these options as I think they would both be in-character and allow for good development and conflict. But I don't want to break any rules or ruffle any feathers.
  4. Vivica took down the name of the radio station, then looked back to Sierra. She seemed impatient, her voice tight and edged with a slight irritation. "Good things come to those who wait," she told the young woman. "Try to just take this experience as it comes. What do those Radiants always say, Grey? It's something catchy, something you could put on a poster. What is it... 'Chilling before baking'? No, that's not it. Measure before spiking? Walking...before arriving?" She shrugged. "Anyway, just sit back. Enjoy it. You've no idea how lucky you are. Why, anyone could have found you in that Alley. You could have ended up with some crazy person! But instead you're here with us." @Snipexe @Shard of Thought
  5. Yes that is correct, they work as a team. Edit: new character sheet with slight changes. Altered the twins' spikes and some of their backstory/motivation.
  6. @Sorana They are both natural compounders on their own, and you can count each one separately if you want. I can even make a duplicate sheet for each, they just have almost an identical skill set and back story so I combined them. Just let me know what is needed
  7. Corette finished walking up and down the line of scouts, checking the order. Some people hadn't lined up yet; she wasn't concerned. If they didn't wish to come, they didn't have to. She moved back towards the Radiant, Althea, and looked at the boy with her. He'd been clever with the tech - that was it. Corette smiled at him, small and amused. She still had yet to crack the security wall on those ACE documents. They were moving closer towards the Well now, and she could use a heads-up on what they might find down there. If it was interesting enough, Matthieu might even give Corette a promotion. "Let's go," she said. "These caverns aren't going to map themselves." Then, Corette hoisted her pack onto her back, flicked on her headlamp, and started down the tunnel. @Sorana @I think I am here. @ElephantEarwax @Rushu42 @I Rashek @kenod @scouting group
  8. @Ark1002 I made two male characters!
  9. Character sheet for Kaspar and Balthazar. I'm not sure if they come in as OP - I'd be totally fine removing their extra spike each if that's required. I just really wanted to do a dark twist on the Three Wise Men
  10. So my twins can wantonly murder others with metal spikes but cannot do coke. *sigh* Alright, I can think up another weakness.
  11. Worth an ask anyway! :]
  12. I want to give my Zinc twins a drug addiction. What is on the table, and what isn't? @Voidus @Sorana
  13. Vivica nodded. "I do love this part," she said with a little sigh. "I always get a little bit envious of a - um - volunteer, y'know? The total unknown, the complete surprise of it all. So much fun!" She quickly jotted down Sierra's choice of Number 1. Personally, Vivica would have picked Number 2, but then that was all part of it, wasn't it? Everyone was different, like a snowflake, or the pattern of a blood splatter. Totally unique. Vivica felt around in her pocket, and pulled out a gingersnap. She was about to eat it, then she broke it in half and offered the larger half to Grey. This was his department, after all. "By the way, is this radio station always on? Bennington really seems to like it." @Snipexe
  14. Vivica cocked her head at the two options on the screen before Sierra, noting the subtle change in Grey's tone. She felt her smile sharpen again, and this time she let it go. This was starting to get good. Those were some excellent statements, and she'd have a hard time picking one herself. Vivica scribbled down both options, intending on asking Grey what he might have chosen at a later time. Perhaps over more coffee. I'll need to perfect my biscotti idea, she thought, drawing a tiny biscotti on the top of her notepad to remind herself. She then drew a tiny spike going through the biscotti, just for fun. That wasn't how it was actually done, of course - the spikes she used were far smaller. Bennington had started to swim in faster loops now, seeming to enjoy the screeching sounds emanating from the radio device. Vivica had to admit, there was a nice, hollow, devouring dischordance to it - the kind of sound that made you wake up screaming in the night. If you had to sleep, that is, which Vivica didn't. That wasn't a problem though. There were plenty of ways to find that terrible, mind-rending, heart-racing glorious emptiness while staying awake too. She caught Grey's eye and smiled even wider. This was the most fun she'd had in quite some time - and that was counting the three hours she'd been allowed with the intern they decided to terminate. He'd had such a lovely voice, and simply gorgeous veins. @Snipexe
  15. Vivica stood quietly, still smiling, and slid the pencil out from behind her ear. Bennington had moved back towards her, and he spun in lazy circles over her left shoulder as she began to take notes on her yellow notepad. Grey's mention of HR had brought back unpleasant memories from a few hours back, and she wanted to make sure that this process was documented thoroughly. Bennington began edging back towards Grey, but Vivica gave the octopus a warning look and a tiny shake of her head. Enthusiasm was all well and good, but it wouldn't do to interrupt someone in the middle of a sensitive procedure. She crooked a finger back towards herself, and Bennington swam back sulkily. Vivica couldn't blame him for being excited; they both got that way, when they really let go of the ropes. She hadn't felt so free in weeks. Her mind was a kite caught in a high breeze, and the string had spooled all the way out. The tether might snap at any moment - that's what made it exciting. The threat of true madness, looming like the Void right over her shoulder. It was enough to set a girl's every nerve on fire. Vivica was plenty mad already, of course, but she'd seen enough to know that she was only waist deep in the stuff. She looked up at Bennington, then back to her notepad. Maybe... chest deep, she admitted, continuing to scribble notes in shorthand, careful to document the changes in sound coming from the radio behind Grey. Vivica tried to keep her expression somewhere in the neighborhood of pleasant. She had a tendency to smile a bit too widely during an experiment.
  16. Vivica followed Grey through the EHD and smiled up at Bennington, who took one look at the optometrist chair and began circling it in graceful loops. His clever eyes were fixed on Grey. Vivica listened to Sierra complain, and idly wondered if there was anything that the young woman did like. She blew a stray hair out of her eyes and settled down in the chair, pulling the vision tester towards herself before pushing it back and hopping out of the chair. "See?" Vivica said, spreading her arms wide and giving a little spin. "Perfectly safe. You said you wanted to rebuild yourself, to see the world differently, to have others finally see you as you wish? Well, first you need to change your way of seeing. This will make it easier, faster. Better. Besides," Vivica leaned forward, fists clenching in excitement, "the sooner we get this done, the sooner we can have cinnamon rolls!" Bennington wiggled his tentacles in agreement, then swam through the air to rest beside Grey, peering over his shoulder at the radio. "Grey's an expert," Vivica said to Sierra. "He knows exactly what he's doing, and I've seen this done several times now. You couldn't possibly be in better hands. Now, come on. Sit!" @Shard of Thought @Snipexe
  17. As always, @Voidus, you're the best!
  18. "Aside from ours?" Lita said, sweeping her eyes over the ground. She shook her head. "Nothing." Lita was no tracker, but Tin made it obvious that no one had been in this cavern for a long time - if ever. "There are depressions in the moss beneath the shoes," she said, pointing. "But nowhere else. It's almost like they just sort of..." Lita waved her hands. "Appeared there, or something. That sounds ridiculous, I know." She cast one more look at the shoes, then stepped lightly towards the end of the cave and looked down the next tunnel. Some of the green moss had grown along the walls here, giving this tunnel more light, which was fortunate, as Lita didn't want to burn through all of her Tin so fast. Don't you? Lita frowned, pushing the quiet voice away and moving back towards Laurelai. "Maybe we'll find the other shoes somewhere further down," she said quietly, suddenly worried about being overheard. "Perhaps the moss simply regenerates itself fast enough to cover all evidence of a passing group." Maybe. Perhaps. The words were an ill-fitting coat over the growing discomfort of this place. Lita did a quick count of the shoes - sixty-three of them. The number felt oddly familiar, though she couldn't place it. She rolled her shoulders, trying to work out the shivering tightness that had nestled between her shoulder blades. Her fingers slipped into her pocket, and she touched the cold face of the Coin. Some of her unease bled away, replaced by excitement at the prospect of unraveling another secret. Pull yourself together, Lita, she thought. A few hours in a cavern, and you want to undo all your good work? You want to be weak? You want to waste your gift? Her other hand strayed to her right side, pressing against the steel that kissed her ribs. Lita stood there for a moment, feeling her mind sink into the metal. Metal was her whole life, her power, her warmth, her sight. Tineye. Pewterarm. Firesoul. She was a woman of metal and blood, and she was not going to be undone by a rusting pile of shoes. "Let's go on ahead," she said. "We can always collect a sample of this moss for R&D on our way back." @Invocation
  19. I am currently musing on an idea for a pair of identical Zinc compounder twins. Could they share metalminds? I'm just imagining them both swapping and filling rings or bracers or whatever, thinking so fast that they can literally finish one anothers' sentences and being a general riot (haha).
  20. Vivica clapped her hands twice and bounced on the balls of her feet a little. That sharp smile had crept back onto her face, and Bennington curled and uncurled his tentacles over her shoulder, eager as ever. "I'm always ready for cinnamon rolls!" She said with a wink, then looked to Sierra. "Excited yet? I'm excited. Can't you feel it? The potential? The unknown, waiting to rush forth and sweep you up and transform you and carry you somewhere else?" Vivica danced on the spot a bit - probably too much coffee, Viv - then smiled at Grey. "Well, this is your department! Lead the way!" @Snipexe @Shard of Thought
  21. Corette pursed her lips, then looked over the scouting group. She pointed towards Allri. "Allri behind me at the front - we'll want her Tin on at the very least. Between the two of us, we should catch any surprises. Researchers and those with minor combat experience in the middle of the line. Easier to keep an eye on them that way." She nodded at Althea. "You can stay with them if you wish, it would probably be wise to keep a Radiant with them anyway, unless you want to place yourself elsewhere. Fighters or those with defensive experience should either be up towards the front or in the back. We should keep everyone all going the same direction. No stragglers, no one gets lost." @I Rashek @Rushu42 @TrailRunnin @I think I am here. @Oduim’s Chmapion
  22. Wow that is amazing. That also explains why Fatebreaker suggested it to me
  23. I don’t think so, personally.
