I was thinking about this the other day. Since there are 10 Oathgates and 10 orders of Knights Radiant, let's try to associate each Oathgate Kingdom with a Knights Radiant order, just for fun. This can be based on what we know about the Kingdoms the Oathgates are located in, and the general characteristics of each Kingdom's people, government, culture, environment etc.
1. Alethkar / Windrunners
This is one was probably the easiest for me to pick. Ancient Alethela was known for having a high concentration of Windrunners, and the River that runs through the Kingdom is named Windrunner River. Also, Alethkar is known for being a miltaristic society, priding themselves on being a conquering people, whilst competing with each other in their war games. Windrunners were known as the military leaders of the Knights Radiant.
2. Shinovar / Skybreakers
The Shin seem to be the people who follow the "good ole ways". They are more isolated and different from the rest of Roshar's kingdoms. Similar to how the Skybreakers were the only order not to break their oaths.
3. Jah Keved / Dustbringers
Dustbringers were a hard one for me. I chose Jah Kaved because of the civil war "breaking" the kingdom apart. Jah Keved also puts a lot of importance on their military, and the Dustbringers seem to be one of the orders that can easily use their powers to cause widespread physical destruction.
4. Rira / Edgedancers
Another hard one. We don't know much about Rira other than it is Evi Kholin's homeland. I decided to associate Rira with the Edgdancers because of Evi's personality and the nature of that kingdom's religion. Also Lift is Reshi, and I think Rira is the closest kingdom to the Reshi Isles.
5. Babatharnam / Truthwatchers
Yet another kingdom we currently don't know a lot about. I thought Truthwatchers would be appropriate because of how their government elects its leader with the oldest person ruling. So Babatharnams have to know the truth about the oldest living person and have to constantly watch and keep up with who is next in line.
6. Iri / Lightweavers
Iri's capital, Rall Elorim, is known as the "City of Shadows", and Kasitor is known as the "City of Lightning". Like an enormous Lightweaver's projection, the largest known spren, Cusicesh lives off the coast of Kasitor. There is a lot of mystery still about Iri and what goes on there past and present. Kind of like the issues Lighweavers deal with about lies and truth. I thought the Lighweaver's would be appropriate for Iri.
7. Azir / Elsecallers
The culture and people of Azir seem to place a lot of importance on Scholarship and organization and generally being careful about things with the Kingdom's litany of written rules and procedures. To be the Prime, you usually have to convince others that what you plan to do is wise etc. Elsecallers share the same characteristics with the kingdom's philosophy on things in general. The viziers even seemed to be really impressed with Jasnah.
8. Thaylenah / Willshapers
The second easiest one for me to pick after Alethkar and Windrunners. Thaylenah is a sea faring culture, and its sailors and merchants love exploring Roshar, like Captain Tozbek, Vstim and Rysn. All the Thaylen seamen we've been introduced love seeing the new sights and enjoy themselves while traveling. Thaylenah is a perfect match for Willshapers.
9. Aimia / Stonewards
I chose the Stonewards for Aimia because of Taln. Taln was the one herald who was abandoned and left to suffer alone. Aimia is a desolate place that has been scoured. Its Oathgate is considered lost just like Taln was, and Aimia was destoyed quite like how Taln currently is after coming back from damnation.
10. Shattered Plains / Bondsmiths
The Oathgate that united people. The first one to be unlocked that led to others following. It was the first one to be discovered and it eventually brought all the remaining people from Alethkar's warcamps together to Urithiru. The last Parshendi people united at the place calling it Narak. All of this matches with the Bondsmiths.
Let me know your thoughts and ideas on this. Would you change anything?
