    "This isn't the last you'll see of me!" With that, Allivia retreated to the shadows. Zolver rolled his eyes. "I'm sorry about that, miss. The dungeons are full enough with the Raven not there to torture them and I don't think the man in charge would like it if more people filled up cells. And I'm not sure you want to go back to your quarters with that old witch. You can take one of the guard's beds, I'm guessin'."

    "Do you know who I am!" Allivia demanded of Zolver. "Yeah, a stuck up little bugger who thinks she can get her way with a brand new guard. Well not me, miss. Now off with you."

    "Look, I'll take this from here," the guard said. "Hand her over, miss."

    "From my perspective, miss," said Zolver, "it's lookin' like you was assulting her, miss Allivia." She glared. "I was going to take her to the dungeons myself."

    The guard - a certain young man named Zolver - raised an eyebrow. Allivia was the one everyone was supposed to say yes to, right? But wasn't that rule referring to- "She was trying to steal this week's paycheck early. And this isn't the first time she's done things like this, oh no. I want her imprisioned!" Zolver scratched his head. He'd only been employed here for a few days, this was a nightmare...

    As he was called for, a sleepy-looking guard came out from around the corner. "What's the problem, miss All-" "This waitress was stealing from me," Allivia hissed.

    "GUARD!!" Allivia yelled. She smirked at Wendy.

    Allivia growled deep in her chest at Wendy, kicking her. "Stop fighting me, girl, or you'll end up in worse shape than I was planning."

    "Nicolae Kimby doesn't know what he wants. He's an idiot, but he's my idiot and you have no right to take him from me." She started dragging Wendy away.

    "Since the moment you put on that uniform. I am God to you girls, do you understand?"

    Allivia had a surprisingly strong grip. When Wendy failed to loose her hand, the elder waitress dug her fingernails into the soft part of her wrist. Then, she kneed her in the stomach. "Yes. You follow my orders."

    "Word travels fast around here," she growled. Allivia grabbed Wendy's wrist and pulled her out of bed. "Come with me."

    The older woman slapped Wendy. Hard. "What, you didn't think I'd find out you're trying to help my Nicolae grow a backbone?"

    Allivia waited until she was sure Wendy was asleep to grab her by the hair and pull her up. "Who do you think you are, hmm?"

    For anyone who didn't know... I get to see @xinoehp512 in 5 days and I am ecstatic beyond belief.

    "Well, then maybe don't judge people based on reputation. I'm down in the dungeons almost all the time, no one knows me enough to make a proper judgement." She shook her head and set the tray of tea down on the table. "I may be a torturess, but I still have a human soul, twisted though it may be. And anyway, I do have something to gain from all this." She paused, trying to figure out a more eloquent way to word, A friend. "I've never had the opportunity to really make a connection to someone not strapped to a table. I would like it very much to have some sort of real companionship."

    "You're certainly entitled to that opinion; I'm sure your cold life has led you to believe such a terrible thing. For, indeed, I can tell that it's been cold. People like us don't turn out the way we are without traveling through Mal for a while..."

    "I realized that you already hate and fear me," Riva admitted. "But everyone feels that way. Our relationship has the opportunity to be different and... I would like that very much."

    "What change? In my approach with you?" It's working, she thought giddily.

    "Yes, but I just got here." She rushed around the desk to pick up the tray again. "Maybe I need your help finding it. Oh, and Caden? I don't know if you recall, but I do have a name and I'd like it if you were to use it."

    She smirked. "You'll get your room back eventually, love, I promise. For now...." She got off of him and grabbed his collar. "Dinner time."

    She chukled and hopped off the desk to sit on his lap. "Yes, I am, aren't I?"

    "It's not respectful to bring my husband some tea after a long day of work?" she pouted.

    "Yes," she promised, smiling. "I meant what I said last night, you know. I really don't want us to have a poor relationship. And to do that, we really ought to spend time together."
