That was enough for them. Not for him ●His mind betrayed him and whispered things that were not true. Distortions. In this state, he could believe Dalinar had lied. He could believe that he secretly wanted him in prison [...] Kaladin could believe that bridge 4 was happy to be rid of him, that they pretended they wanted to be guards just to make him happy. They secretly wanted to go on with their lives, lives they'd enjoy, Without Kaladin spoiling them. These untruths should have seem ridiculous to him. They didn't. I think these quotes reflect a lot of who Kaladin is. If you need any more help just ask! Journey before destination.

Oh now i get what you said! The sacrifice will be difficult for him not because of his own life but because if he is dead then he can't make sure everyone else is safe. The ideals are just such a cool concept

Yeah, that seens likely as Kaladin is a larger than life character and in my experience -Mistborn Spoilers- The only problem i see is that Kaladin is obsessed with protecting other people before himself, so that ideal wouldn't be so difficult for him to swear. And in OB we see he knows the worss but just isn't able to say them

I legitimately think that if Kaladin isn't in the second part it will become very difficult for me to read it. Kal's POV's are what got me through the beggining of WoK. And he is by far my favourite character. That said, i trust Brandon. Even if Kal dies, i'll keep reading.

I read somewhere that SA was going to be two 5 book arcs. Does this mean characters will be different and it will basicaly be two different sagas? Or is it just the thematic that is going to change?

I think Sanderson might not be human. I love Kaladin's character ark, fighting the depression, blaming himself, feeling part of bridge 4 while simultaniously feeling apart from them, hating lighteyes yet seeing that some of them are good,etc. This character is incredibly complex and it might seem that Brandon has experienced this himself. But also you have Shallan, battling her demons, feeling guilt and coping with it creating personas, being in love with Adolin and attracted to Kaladin, acting like a kid around Jasnah, etc. And you have Dalinar, Jasnah, Navani, Adolin, Taravangian, Szeth,etc. All equally complex. Brandon can't possibly have lived 10 lives, yet he is able to create characters that feel so real while being so diferent, he doesn't minimize any viewpoint, he has males, females, Lift who is basically a kid and he even makes spren like Syl and Pattern feel real. He is just a genius, I don't know how he does this.

Also i think we are biased toward male characters (us men). I saw a girl that joined yesterday and she said Shallan was her favorite character. I guess identifying with the character has something to do with it. I also don't super love her but she's cool. I am very happy with adolin and Shallan together, i don't think kaladin is ready for love yet as he has a lot of internal issues to solve
