Falchion or Bort (joke from friends).
But I like Reverie the best. Daydreamin' for life!

I said this in a previous post, but I believe that Doomslug is a "watcher" from the aliens, checking to see if humanity is ready to join other species among the stars. I think humanity joining the stars again because of Spensa's actions (her determination in fixing M-Bot, friendship and leadership with Rig and Skyward Flight, compassion and sacrifice when dealing with the Lifebuster at the end) would be a very Sanderson ending, and fits slightly with some of his other series endings.

Going off that, maybe the Glyphs on Kaladin's head chapters are a glyph-pair of "Storm" and "Blessed" to make his "new last name." This might look unlikely, especially since the glyph for "storm," - zeras - looks nothing like the glyph on the flag. But the glyphs for khokh and linil look very little like the glyph for Kholin.

He writes steampunk, a genre I tried to get into and failed to do so before Mistborn Era 2. And whenever he explains the trade system in the cognitive realm, I'll start to love economics.

Not sure if I put it here or on Reddit, but I'm of the theory that Doomslug is actually a being sent by part of that alien coalition to watch and see if humanity is ready to rejoin society. Or more insidiously for more human tech, given HOW advanced humans were in D.E. and how advanced M-Bot is.
I'm a fan of the first theory because I think it fits the pattern from some of Sanderson's previous works. For hints (and potential spoilers):

Kelsier hasn't left Scadrial at all.
48 minutes ago, Vissy said:You're a bit off course. As Calderis said, Kelsier hasn't managed to make it off world, but this doesn't mean that he hasn't found a way to extend his influence beyond Scadrial. The key to that would be gaining access to worldhoppers and convincing them to join his "crew". Perhaps he has even created a few worldhoppers by way of telling his most trusted underlings in Southern Scadrial about it and then setting them some missions.
So I remembered with the timeframe not working out part. I momentarily forgot that Eras 2&3 take place between SA arcs. Which is why it's back to the drawing board!

I mean, does it negate my theory that much? The Set has Kandra working for them that Harmony seemingly doesn't know about. Couldn't it be possible that the worldhopping society has one as well?
Or maybe as a revised theory, this could lead to proof that Kelsier made it off Scadrial with some Southern Scadrians between...wait...timeframe doesn't work out...sigh. Back to the drawing board!

I have a low-key, crack theory that Iyatil is the shapeshifting Kandra...

I have a few barely supported and/or entirely unsupported ideas regarding cosmere Dragons, and I was curious if anyone else had any similar wild speculations on the topic.
In no particular order:
-I think that Dragons will be able to absorb Investiture directly the way Larkin aka "Dragon Bugs" do. I suspect this is their natural food, and being innate and sapient Investiture manipulators is a lot of why they are racially immortal and able to shape-shift.
-I think Dragons have Gemhearts, mostly because it would make sense realmically and be thematically consistent with the popular trope of dragons having magically significant Hearts. If true, I would not be surprised if the Singers proved to have originally been a hybrid race of dragons and Humans (or Dragons and Sho Del, I suppose).
-I would not be surprised to learn that Dragonsteel is an in-world material, something naturally Invested and smelted from their shed scales or some such. It would please me to find out that this was the closest thing to a pre-Shattering Godmetal, something the vessels later mimicked.
Nice! That's really close to my theories! I think Larkins ARE a form of dragons, at least Rosharan ones. And I do believe we'll see at least one radiant riding a giant Larkin before the end of the series.

Feruchemy and either
1. Fifth heightening
2. Two surges (regrowth and either Tension or Abrasion)
3. A DAWNSHARD. Yeah, it wasn't on the list, but it's fun to include.

ROUND 2 (and a week or so later): ANIME BOOGALOO
Young, Flashback Dalinar
SpoilerAnd now that's out of the way, I thought I'd give books/series theme songs too. And prepare for a LOT of anime songs (because I always picture books I read with anime openings and endings).
Wheel of Time (opening)
Spoilerhttps://www.lyrical-nonsense.com/lyrics/aimer/re-i-am/
I guess you could say this is Rand's theme song. I feel that the song captures the scope and tone of the series for me more than anything.
Kaladin (and WoK opening)
SpoilerYES, I KNOW IT'S THE SAME SONG AS WHEEL OF TIME. But the translated lyrics and the English ones don't have the same meaning, and I kinda like the idea of SA's first "opening"/character theme song being an English derivation of the WoT one. It's like poetry. It rhymes. And the lyrics fit Kal and Syl well too.
Also Kaladin (post-bridge 4 until The Chasm)
SpoilerWords of Radiance "opening" (and Shallan's theme)
SpoilerI feel like this is the song in title fits Szeth, the tone Shallan, and some of the lyrics other characters. So I feel like it captures the negative moods in the book.
Shallan in Oathbringer
SpoilerDalinar (and Oathbringer opening)
Spoilerhttp://www.animelyrics.com/jpop/aimer/insanedream.htm
The lyrics match up surprisingly well here, and when the guitars kick in...timing this to the Unity chapter in Oathbringer, it was a transcendental experience for me.
Spensa
SpoilerI think this reflects somewhat on how she feels after the events of the book. The song keeps her stubbornness, but her worldview has expanded.
Skyward as a whole
SpoilerI think this song really fits Spensa's arc well and has enough rock to really help those dogfights! Although the Man of Steel soundtrack works perfectly too.
https://www.lyrical-nonsense.com/lyrics/aimer/starringchild/
The lyrics here fit less overall, but there's still a resonant theme that works. So I might end up saying StarRingChild is Skyward's theme and Closer is Starsight's theme.
I'm sure I'll do a part 3 eventually...whenever I reread the Reckoners trilogy...

How do y'all think the story is going to progress? SPOILERS FOR POPULAR POST APOCALYPTIC YA SERIES! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.
If it was a "normal YA" story, they'd:
Find out that other societies humans exist and there's a rebellion going on by the end of book 2.
SpoilerSee Catching Fire, Insurgent, and The Scorch Trials
Have the main character be crushed by the end of book 3.
SpoilerSee Catching Fire, Golden Sun, and partially A Torch Against the Night
The rebellion regroups and wins the larger way by the end of book 4, exposing any unsavory truths along the way
SpoilerSee Mockingjay, Allegiance, Morning Star.
Subverted in The Death Cure
But...we all know these stories.
My personal two theories are:
1. They'll find a new society of humans who will actually be antagonists
2. Doomslug is actually a monitor that will prove that humanity is ready to join the ranks of higher species.
So how do YOU think the future books will go?

An added thought:
This book definitely felt like Sanderson still had some "Stormlight writing" in him with the additions of the interludes and the drawings. If this is a constant thing going forward, I am ALL ABORD. The interludes aren't anything special, but they definitely helped flesh out Ironsides, and while the drawings are simple, they add so much in terms of cinematic value! It makes me feel like I'm getting the most bang for my buck.

Haven't finished (I'm on Chapter 23 atm), and haven't read any of the replies here, but I just want to say:
I can't stop reading M-Bot as Mmm-Bop. Please send help.
How about a different fix? MMMMMMM....GOOD LIES.
...and now I can't stop thinking about M-Bot as a crack-ship (crack ship? HA!) for Pattern...and it would be glorious...

Am I the only one who felt that it’s not a true Sanderson book since it’s too short?
Don't worry, that's just a sign you want more!

It's longer than any of his other non-Cosmere books: Steelheart was roughly 318 pages in the hardcover, Calamity was 410. Skyward is a tiny bit over 500.
I think it's just the mix of 1) we had the pre-released chapters, so it's less of the actual book we read. And 2) the last book we had by Sanderson was over 1200 pages long. Skyward is a little over of 1/3 of that, and not nearly as dense.
Honestly, since we're getting 4 of these books instead of the usual trilogy* I'd say we have plenty of time for more story.
*I mark this down because recently it seems like his trilogies have been running away from him...

What do people think about Spensa as a character and the growth and changes she goes through throughout the book?
Just finished!
I like Quirk the best, but I feel for Morningtide.
I honestly think Spensa's growth is one of the most realistic growth patterns we've seen of Sanderson's characters. I'm excited to see where she goes from here and how the story continues.

I could see it happening, but not for a while at least though (and I'm one of those crazy Kaladin x Jasnah shippers first and foremost!
)
Shallan needs two things in my opinion:
1. Respect/validation
2. Stability/someone who knows her
As long as Shallan and Jasnah have their mentor/student relationship, Shallan will never have the respect/validation she craves from Jasnah. And while Shallan is trying to break that pattern and be seen as a peer, Jasnah doesn't seem to see the problem with it. In terms of stability/someone who knows her, Jasnah should be the best person for that, but she's too focused on saving the world.
So it could happen, and it would be interesting to see, but I'm not sure Jasnah can provide what Shallan needs.

Just a weird thought re-reading the chapter, but maybe the Krell attack patterns are similar to what Spin pulls to win the simulation race/game. I can't think of a more complex theory than that at the moment, but I could totally see Sanderson using that as some sort of Chekhov's skill or maneuver.

What Brandon Sanderson books have you read?
Which is your favorite?
Do you like role playing games?
Thanks!
1. Pretty much everything but Infinity Blade and some short stories.
2. Mistborn: The Final Empire, but I do think SA is his best work.
3. Both tabletops and RPGs! So yeah Fire Emblem is inspiration for the name lol!

Hello all! Medium-time lurker, long time procrastinator, first time joiner! Glad to be a part of the community! I won't contribute much in the way of high-concept theories, but I'll do my best to have a good time!

Future Bass really helps set the mood for YA books for me, and this mix has done WONDERS in helping the Atmosphere for Skyward.
