The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
Phantom Monstrosity replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Man, I just had a couple of ideas for awakening, but not sure if 'asking if x is plausible' is really that good a thing for the ultimate questions or not. I guess I'll let the thread decide if they're sufficiently awesome to make the cut. Could a mad Awakener Scientist take a big plaster cast in the shape of a human, fill it up with human blood, and make a T-1000 style shapechanging Lifeless? [if so], about how many Breath would that take? Would it need to find bones like a kandra? And The closer something approximates your own body, the easier it is to awaken, so (assuming you had sufficient Breath) could you store Breath in, or Awaken, your own shadow? Asking about the shadow is an interesting question about cognitive domain stuff and perception - while shadows aren't anything physical, they have one heck of a weighty cognitive definition for people, and presumably an Identity very closely tied to yours. And it'd be an interesting place to hide normal Breath as well. -
Crack theory: Shardplate is actually the husks of former parshendi archwarrior voidbringer forms, enslaved and controlled through foul necromancy. The day they once more fuse together with a parshendi is the day the resurrected knights radiant have an equal foe.

Have you read Problem Sleuth yet? What about Ryanquest?

I just burned through the archives of A Redtail's Dream. It's a really good fantasy comic, based off Finnish myth. A boy and his dog take a journey into the lands of dream to retrieve the other members of their village. The author has actually just finished writing it, but it's being updated six times a week from her buffer of about a hundred comic pages.

I might as well toss this in as well.

Well, the thing is, you're also pulling on bullets aimed at other dudes. They'll be pulled in towards your chest, yeah, but there's no reason why they have to hit your chest dead on - you could just as easily redirect bullets directed to the left, right, and below you into your own arms, sides, or crotch.

Odium's Nature and the Reason for his Actions

In my view, he hasn't finished the job yet - cultivation is still on his hitlist. -
I don't see why you'd refer to a shard as a rock?

Theory: Hoid as a Shardholder
Phantom Monstrosity replied to Mister_Fawx's topic in Cosmere Discussion
So you're saying that he might be a Sliver, then? That's been specced before (heck, some people think he might have been adonalisum's original shardholder). Anyway, Brandon used to be unsure, then he decided Hoid wasn't a shard. He could have picked one up at the shattering, but who even knows. -
Theory: Hoid as a Shardholder
Phantom Monstrosity replied to Mister_Fawx's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Hoid's been confirmed as not being a shard. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=697#21 -
Sure. You canonically can use hemalurgy to steal a shardblade. They aren't going to discover the metallic arts by accident, though. My answer? Sure, if you had some stormlight to put in it. But you'll have to wait for the next highstorm for that, and that might take a while. They don't have Breaths, so obviously not. Whether or not they're on scandrial is irrelevant - if they went to Nalthis they still wouldn't be able to. If they somehow gained the ability to be an awakener, they still wouldn't *actually* be able to awaken since they don't have Breath.

I think he also said that if people are together he'll write their scenes together. -
Brandon's Book 2 reading

Could also be that when he goes through for, say, Kaladin, if a Kaladin scene comes up that depends on stuff Dalinar is doing, he writes the Dalinar scene at the same time. Then when he goes through for the Szeth stuff, he throws in a necessary Dalinar PoV for the awesome fight, et cetera, so the final pass is just adding the Dalinar scenes that weren't directly required by characters he's already written. -

He was writing Dalinar stuff in morse back in May, so... -
That name thing is a reference to Liar of Partinel. The first few chapters of that are actually up on the website.

Not exactly. They're using their tiny inner preservation to draw on the powers of creation; big P preservation is hardly involved (though he could step in to fuel it if he wanted).

Effect of the state of a world's shards
Phantom Monstrosity replied to Chromium Compounder's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Do we have a confirmation on this? Preservation meddled with how the mists snapped people, but that's not exactly the same thing. -
Of course, if people pick metals that have unrevealed powers, there's enough for everyone (50^2-1+3=2502). Problem is, not sure how many people would be willing to pick metals like mallerasium, or ferratium, or whatever.

Well, Brandon used to sound unsure about whether or not Hoid was a shard... not sure if that's really evidence per se, but...
