  1. Jesus was certainly a inspiration much like with another cosmere character it wouldn’t surprise me if in back half we see a newer religious group, claiming that Kal will come back from the dead to save everyone I think you’re forgetting that he’s now a Harold now they are worshiped as gods or Demi godsby most of there world’s religions the minute that becomes widely known he’s going to have at least a large a following as kelsier An unfair comparison she never never performed miracles. Neither she made from a God.
  2. The broken one most certainly refers to retribution Non-Christians, don’t believe in prophecy that is very different from having a different interpretation
  3. To each own, I suppose I’m not sure I like it better there are may be some aspects of it I like, but overall, I think I would’ve preferred if they had stayed more inhuman more like living ideas. I disagree that this was necessary for them to have agenda instead of functionality. They have both agenda and functionality without this. I suppose when you put it like that it does kind of make sense still, I do have to agree. I feel like something is lost. I do see the benefits of having to spend being more human life, but it’s a mixed blessing if it is the one at all.
  4. Breath is similar to Hemalurgy in that it can be easily traded(with the exception of countries that forbid awakening, or the transfer of breath). More so then even Hemalurgy and there are probably more awakener than there are spiked.
  5. Yes, but it could be. It’s inherently a system where power flow freely from one person to another. And there is no laws or system to prevent that. And even if the public book doesn’t know about it. You already see powerful organizations and individuals trying to gather as much of them as possible.
  6. I’m grouping them together because I’m not interested so much how they access it but how it’s distributed how many people are invested and can one person trade or give investure to Another. In these regards the two are the same both are essentially a few people who have highly level abilities with little or no ability to sell or give their power to others Hemalurgy is an interesting beast. It is ultimately what I’m calling capitalistic magic which in this context means it can be brought and sold or given away. Actually, they’d be able aristocratic because only a handful of people are invested
  7. 1. For clarification I’m not talking about actually running the country. I’m more talking about access to high-level magical abilities (which may or may not translate into political rule as well, but that’s a different kind of discussion). 2. What do you have against sky breakers? 3. Yes, I’m well aware that aristocracy is usually become simply oligarchy. That’s why I included examples of both the nobility and the knight’s radiance 4. Yes I would consider the singers forms to be what I am calling for now magical socialism. (yes I’m aware that this is not a perfect term, but I don’t have another one.) it definitely has its benefits as it spreads and magic out rather evenly the downside is from what we see it appears this system of distributing power is the weakest. Excluding forms of power that come from odium most singers form don’t offer that much of a boost compared to. Let’s say alomancer and nowhere near the type of boost you’d get from a knight radiant. So it seems like these systems of investor distribution does not produce any strong investigator users Socialism is probably not the word for it but I can’t think of another one. It’s simply system that distribute magic relatively evenly across the entire society For clarification, I wasn’t really talking about how power is obtained as that can be different for every shard. Instead, I was interested in discussing about how power is distributed among a society.
  8. I hear what you’re saying but fundamentally disagree the radiant orders are not a meritocracy. A meritocracy is ruled by people with the proper skills or training neither of which is technically necessary to be at knight radiant. Instead the knight’s radiance abilities and hierarchy is based around ideals and living up to those ideals. Simply put it is a true aristocracy (which literally means rule of the best) I grouped them together because the knights are a perfect example of what an aristocracy should be, whereas the nobility is an example of what an aristocracy usually is. Either way, though they both would fall under description of aristocracy.
  9. Been thinking about magic and how it’s distributed in the Cosme I’ve been thinking about three basic systems that I seem to see. 1. Magical aristocratiam. Magic is conserved to a few chosen individuals a good example this would be Stormlight or Mistborn era one. 2. Magical capitalism. Magic is distributed and allowed to flow freely across a society, this leads to most people not having much or any magic while the rich and powerful monopolize. Hallandren is of course, an excellent example of that. 3. Magical socialism. A good example of this would be idres magic is distributed, but not allowed to flow freely. Everyone has a small amount of magic they cannot sell or give it away. While perhaps more fair system, this means that society won’t receive any of the benefits of having high-level invested people. given that there are pros and cons each system, which system do you think is preferred?
  10. Fair point
  11. I suppose such a thing could be possible if for some reason humanity invested less in eugenics with horses, I think I am starting to understand what you mean
  12. Yeah, but a time period. Usually doesn’t need to be stated it just is if I’m writing the fantasy where everyone’s using bronze weapons, mud bricks, and riding chariots that would be in the bronze age, even if I didn’t stated it to be. What do you mean by one that hasn’t been created yet? Do you mean like taking place in the future? that’s on the list
  13. Space feudalism: society is organized into a rigid hierarchy which grows more rigid the further you go up. Rights, responsibilities, privileges and technology are directly proportional to your place on the hierarchy. Freedom is indirectly proportional to it. Movement up the hierarchy is at best uncommon at worst impossible. Correct religious doctrine is a necessity that becomes more important to further up the hierarchy. You are. Passionate religious displays devotion are not just a feature, but it requirement and are expected to grow more extreme the further up the hierarchy you are. Punishments are often draconian, though these can be mitigated by moving up the hierarchy if possible. On the plus side you get to be a cool knight in power armor. Anarchic Space West: law-enforcement of any time is rare, and when it does happen it looks like a twisted mix between a vigilante group and a drug gang. Carrying guns is an absolute necessity for survival. Public services are absolutely unheard of it. You need help. You have to depend on yourself your family or friends. Few others you can trust. People naturally formed into small groups based on land, blood and sometimes religion and are extremely distressful outsiders. Occasionally, a local war order will try to carve himself out an empire, but so far this seems to be too much competition for that to succeed. Social hierarchy is in a constant state of flux and seems to be based solely on how many friends you have and how big of guns you have. On the plus side you get up to live out your space cowboy fantasies. Cyberpunk corporatism. Corruption in government and law enforcement are rampant. On paper crime is low fact however, you can get away with most anything if you’re willing to pay the proper bribes. All corporations are controlled by a small group of corporate families that serve a type of oligarchy your place in social hierarchy is completely defined by how much money or utility you can make for these families. Everything is comically overpriced. Everything is a constant struggle for those who don’t have money. On the plus side if you have money, you get to become a superhuman cyborg if you want. Absolute technocratic state. You owe nothing and you are happy mainly because your happiness is mandatory. Failure to be happy means that your psychiatrist will give you more drugs until you are. You have no control over your life. Everything is decided by AI, algorithms, or the so-called expertise of technocrats. You are bombarded by constant propaganda of how mankind has risen above his animal instincts and becoming enlightened being. You live a life of total hedonism not because you particularly enjoyed it but because you’re bored and have no incentive to do anything else. Nearly everything is done by robots. Correct ideological and political doctrine is a necessity any descent from the norm established by the technocrats is treated as mental illness and medicated. You only hope for something interesting to do is the score high enough on your intelligence and educational exam that you can apply for the more interesting engineering, scientific or military jobs. However, even those jobs things are mostly done by AI with humans regulated to oversight. On a plus side you get to live like some sort of space billionaire for free. You can indulge in nearly any desire so long as it is considered to be in line with what the technocrats consider enlightenment. And if you desire something outside of that, don’t worry, that can be solved with proper medication.
  14. Do you have an example of what you mean?
  15. Strongly disagree. You’re trying to make measurements based on science, which is great if you want to do scientific measurements but for practical use units it’s better to go off human experience and human environment then science hence the reason why I stand with imperial units. As they get their measurements based off of the human body. So it’s easy to picture the basic size in your head.
  16. Which time period Do you prefer for your fantasy books?
  17. I’m using high spren in this context were referred to all intelligent spren
  18. Not true we meet many high spren without a bond and they act no different from 4th ideal spren And then there is the storm father who was inhumane even in oathbringer but we later found out that is just an act.
  19. Not bad I’m guessing this is a made to high-level campaign? What do you call your world?
I’ve only done one shots but I’m trying to put together a campaign in my own setting that I’m going with the working title dragon Crusade and said there’s around a conflict between humanoids (humans, elves, half elves, dwarfs, Assimir , halfings and gnomes) and Dragonoids (humans, elves, half elves, dwarfs, Assimir , halfings and gnomes) and Dragonoids (dragons, dragoniod monsters , dragon born, serpent, themed monsters, kobolds, yuan ti, and lizard men) Lore the creator the material by dividing the realm of chaos into 4 parts ( the element plains) and from the middle part he created the material plain Tiamat ruler of dragons and ruler of the realm of chaos was angered by what she considered her domain divined with and stolen. She attacked the material plain to destroy it but was killed by the creator wher body placed in the earth and her soul imprisoned in the abyss. The creator created humanoids and placed them in charge of the material plane. He assigned his children, the celestial to watch over them. Ages passed one of the celestial's Azazel desire to rise above his brothers becoming as the creator himself this led to war within the celestial's Azael lost, but before he was defeated, he managed to escape complete destruction by tricking humans into opening a gate to the elemental planes this allowed for dragons to enter the material plane. Dragons are chaotic by nature and so their existence is detrimental to the order of the material plane. Additionally, many of the dragons resented the death of their leader the queen Taimate and because her death was for the sake of the material plane it's peoples they sought vengeance on the material planet itself overtime they destroy destroyed a conquered over 2/3 of the world. So the celestials took action some gave the huminods how to use the power the creator left the world (magic) other disguised themselves mortals to guide mankind. Slow they pushed back the dragonoids creating new kingdoms this new kingdoms still border the dragon lands some monsters occasionally the crossover leading to the need to create a new kind of professional the adventure. Yeah, he was a new DM first campaign so he let us get away with a lot of things he shouldn’t. I do feel kind. I’m sorry for him. He kept giving us stuff that he thought we would never be able to use, but that were cool enough he thought we would spend our money on it instead of buying no more dangerous weapons he was right about us spending money on it, but he was wrong to think that we weren’t gonna use them with a little ingenuity. All of them were extremely overpowered. They include included nuclear bomb launcher with four shots and a 50 foot range. A cloning device that wouldn’t clone memories resulting in the clone that is the intelligence of a newborn. Telepathic rocks. And more, we abuse the hell out of all these.
  20. Where would I even begin? I suppose I should be the time I intimidated a wall. Long story short I was a barbarian with a high charisma stat we were in a sentient tower the DM said I made a wrong turn and ended up crashing straight into a wall after being lost in a maze. Since the tower was alive, I asked the DM if I could intimidate. He said yes, but I would have to roll a 30. Everyone immediately begin piling on as many modifiers on me as they could. I net 20 with my own intimidation stat, which was impressive plus modifiers it came out to 30. Here’s another we were playing a space campaign science fiction using the Star Wars 5E system, but set in a different universe. We were playing a group of mercenaries who had taken in a group of baby telepathic slugs that could possess people if they entered their brain body snatcher style. Well, we are traveling to another planet we discovered that a ship was following us. The DM was trying to set up some sort of space battle (he had this whole elaborate space battle system that he always was trying to show off, but never could mainly because we always preferred to take things into Malay ) I was the acting captain at the time. I wasn’t confident in us winning the ship battle so I came up with the crazy idea. I ordered our ship to immediately turn around and head straight toward the enemy ship, then I had the telepathic slugs broadcast to any living minds on the ship this message “ we are the collective you will be assimilated resistance is futile” The DM was so impressed that he didn’t even have me do an intimidation check just said the said ship turned around and ran .
  21. Well I hope you’re wrong as have characters with cool powers is what brought me to the cosmere his underpowered books are alright but don’t think I would be interested in cosmere where they were the norm
  22. Previous oathbringer spren were portrayed as being living ideas and were more like archetypes that could talk than people. Since Oathbringer it seems like while we are still told that they are not people and do not think as people they are always be betrayed as thinking the same way humans do. Well, this is not necessarily a bad thing. I do miss the sort of alien feel they used to have. I wanted to see if others felt the same way.
  23. No era 4 is science fantasy much like Star Wars or Warhammer 40k not science fiction. And there are literally people that make arguments that include their weapons, make most politicians exception of the president worlds complete control of over the nuclear weapons obsolete. But that’s different discussion. Either way Brandon Sanderson built this entire franchise on his magic systems. Having characters you can’t use magic or are always out fast by people using machines would kind of be disappointing to a lot of fans, including me Funny actually I came to the opposite conclusion order to be relevant our characters will have to be even more invested than they are now. I don’t think Vin would be nearly as impressive in a era 4 cosmere meaning that if we’re going to continue to make characters like her, we need characters at least Lord ruler level either that or fundamentally change what the Cosmere is I’m sure that many forms of investigator and investment arts could be qualified as a mysterious power from another age. And all we know there might actually be a chosen one. It’s not like there hasn’t been chosen once before the Cosmere and seemed the future is a thing.
  24. True but still, I feel like there must be some drawback. I mean that’s crazy. This is a fantasy story. They have to keep the characters relevant somehow. Otherwise machines would solve everything and they would be no plot
  25. Are there any guns that can actually harm spirit web directly? Perhaps the shard guns Do we have any evidence that using a machine is actually stronger when it comes to investiture?
