  1. That's definitely a possibility, that it's a Shard who has Invested in the Iriali people, and they worldhop from planet to planet. And it would indeed fit with how Autonomy has been known to meddle in other worlds. I don't see the connection with the Aimianss, though; could you elaborate on that? An alternate interpretation is that this is a form of the God Beyond belief that is making its way through the cosmere:
  2. Spoiler rule reminder. This one's a bit of a gray area, since OP has read part of OB and has included discussion of the parts they have read. I've added the [OB] tag to the title, rather than go through and edit in spoiler tags to all of these posts. But be considerate, as discussion continues, that OP has not finished the book yet.
  3. Pass. Topic smashed. (Let's keep things family-friendly, please.)
  4. Too many spam accounts posting threads that are links to advertising websites. (We've recently put in a plugin that stops almost all of them, but old habits die hard.)
  5. This thread gets my mod hackles up every time. If I delete it on reflex, I'm sorry.
  6. No, I would have to remove that link if you posted it here. Team Dragonsteel has decided on their delivery method, and the forum staff will respect that. (Thanks for checking, though.)
  7. For Aether, you can head on down to the request topic, in the Unpublished Works forum: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/forum/79-unpublished-works/ For White Sand, the link is still broken from a recent website migration they did. Brandon's assistants are aware of the problem, and they are working on resolving it. Mistborn Prime... I don't know if that one is being sent out anymore. There is a bit of it, maybe just the prologue, on Brandon's website, in the Library section. But that might be subject to the migration issues, as well. I don't remember if they had it downloadable as a Word document, or if it was actually inserted in a page like some of the other chapters (like the Dragonsteel or Mythwalker stuff.)
  8. Per our Oathbringer spoiler policy, Oathbringer content of any kind is not allowed in this subforum. Even if you place it behind spoiler tags, it will be edited out by the moderators (or the post hidden entirely, if there wouldn't be anything left after removing spoilers.) This policy remain be in place for nine months after release (August 14th 2018, or thereabouts) If you have posted a topic in this forum that you wish to be moved to the spoiler board, please use the "Report" feature on your own topic (sounds weird, but nothing to be afraid of), and a moderator will move your post for you. If you want to post Oathbringer content in a topic in this forum, check to see if a similar topic exists in the Oathbringer subforum; if it does not, feel free to create a new thread there for it. You can see our full spoiler policy in the following thread: Thank you all for your continued commitment to those who are still working through the book or have not had a chance to obtain it yet.

  10. I ship Oathbringer spoilers with the Oathbringer spoiler board. Anyone who ships Oathbringer spoilers with the main Stormlight board is wrong. (In other words, this thread is not in the Oathbringer board, so please do not mention Oathbringer content.)
  11. This will be a question to ask to Brandon's team directly. I'd recommend using the contact form on the website: https://brandonsanderson.com/contact/. You could also check the FAQ on his website: faq.brandonsanderson.com/ in case he has a general answer.
  12. All the audio from JordanCon has been transcribed. You can find it here: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/332-jordancon-2018/ Everything could use an extra set of ears on it, making sure it has been transcribed accurately. And it's all too common for typos to slip through. So, if you're going to check them out, please play the audio and suggest necessary changes.
  13. Usually #3. He's far from the only author to do it, so they're used to it.
  14. Moved to the Oathbringer board, now that you have finished the book and are discussing it.
  15. You're off to a great start. A couple of quick things: First, I seem to recall Shallan is talking about women's script, not glyphs, in that passage. I don't think you get a diacritic in glyphs. Second, the A needs to be a dot or a circle; the straight line is a B. Third, when you use your symbols, you build half of the glyph using the entire word, and then reflect it. Not all glyphs are based on symmetrical words (like the highprince glyphs, for example), and the ones that are symmetrical will have at least four instances of some letters. (The Nahn glyph is a good example; you've basically got 4 N's. Two for word on tbe left, the same two mirrored on the right.) So, you basically have a glyph for ALE. Lastly is how to Alethize the word. The vowels in Alethi are just as versatile as they are in English. (See; Kaladin vs Shallan vs Adolin. I mean, just how the A's are pronounced differently.) No need to add an H, and I'd say you can get away with ALE, ALI, or ALY for your glyph. Or just use the straight-up full English word, ALLEY. Nothing inherently wrong with that. But it looks to me like you're on the right track. Fix your A's, and you're in good shape.
  16. I can confirm they are links, at least on Microsoft Edge. Embedding them is unfortunately beyond my expertise.
  17. I was talking with my brother (who is not on the internet) about this before the con, and he thought the same thing. So you're definitely not alone in that, and that's another part of why I asked it.
  18. Back home safe and (relatively) sound. Had an absolute blast. Like I've said after other events I've been to, it's not that I just saw Brandon and got some questions. It was great to meet other fans, Sharders and WoT fans both, and to geek out in person. And spending a lot of time in the board game hall was an unexpected pleasure; I got to run some House War, but also got to play some games I've wanted to learn for a while and hang out with the great people who taught them to me. So, it really is the rest of you (except maybe Argent) that make it all worth it. Going for a whole weekend to sit in a corner and wait for a chance to ask questions (even a good dozen or so questions) wouldn't make me want to go back. I was especially impressed with the Wheel of Time community there. I knew some names, knew some of the old theories and in-jokes, but I wasn't as in to the WoT fandom as I am in the Cosmere side of it. I went to some of the fandom anniversary panels, learned some stories, got to chat with Theoryland and Dragonmount admins. I think we, as a younger community, have a lot we can learn from them, and I'm so glad they are gracious in sharing their convention with us. And now comes the part of the show where I unpack and reflect upon the new info I got. Glyphs (spoiler'd for length) And second, my questions. They're all working their way into Arcanum (or already have), so I won't drop exact quotes, just some overview and followup thoughts. I did have quite a bit of fun, as you can see from my bar-code of snippets in the Arcanum audio file: Photo rudely taken by @Jofwu during my turn in line. But enough about me, here are the questions. OB Spoilers: Lastly, a reflection on The Traveler (Spoiler'd for The Traveler; make sure you read that cold-turkey): Well... that's all I've got for my report. See you all next time. (Don't know if I'll be able to go next year, but I'm definitely considering it. Maybe that will counter-balance my negative impact. Just a tip for everyone: if you're playing House War and your wife says "don't make a deal with Pagerunner to defeat Vin and end the game, he's going to win if you do," you'd better listen to her. Because she's 100% right.
  19. Having questions of mine spread around the internet before I even have a chance to get home from the con and add atributation is the best kind of "problem" I could have. By all means keep doing what you're doing! I thought these were all pretty intuitive, but I had heard some other opinions so I'm glad we finally have confirmation.
  20. Brandon read a small Cosmere story he's been sitting on for 8 years, called "The Traveller." You can find the audio on Arcanum: go to the Sources tab on the JordanCon event page, and find the recording for it. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/332-jordancon-2018/ I recommend just listening to the audio cold turkey. If you need to know: EDIT: And it has now been transcribed.
  21. Well, we didn't live stream it, but the audio is in Arcanum. It needs some transcription attention. (For anyone who is so inclined...)
  22. Excellent questions. Brandon has been tight-lipped at signings; what you listed is all we have, unfortunately.
  23. Friendly reminder that Oathbringer spoilers are not allowed in this subforum at this time.
  24. There are two entries about the Zeroth Law in Arcanum: https://wob.coppermind.net/adv_search/?query=Zeroth No original source, unfortunately - it was a lecture he gave sometime before Shadows of Self (maybe the Words of Radiance tour lecture?), and it wasn't posted as an essay to his site.
