Same did happen with me earlier. For months I was just lurking, suddenly I felt I did not have much to say on any of the topics. 
New released chapters have changed that I guess.

Welcome to the shard! A little caution is always necessary but I think that shard is an amazing community of like minded people with similar interests. I have found many good and supportive people here. So I want to say enjoy on the shard.

Hmm a truespren may be difficult to store in a gemstone may be you will need a perfect gem for that which are rare. But it is an interesting idea. 
 

I think it should be possible to hack the system and use gemstones for storing other types of investiture and similarly metalmind for storing stormlight!

May be possible with a metalmind made of godmetal of honor or an alloy of it. 
Also a radiant if spiked and granted  nicrosil feruchemy might be able to store investiture related to surgebinding

Hmm yes it is possible that you are right. We need stormlight for sure which I see as a equivalent of metal as in fuel for Allomancy. 
Also I think may be radiants will find a way to take spren off-world

I still think that since nahel bond changes the spiritual DNA of a radiant and the radiant is broken his soul is split wide open which then the bond the spren fills with investiture, essentially I believe spren and radiant become one spiritual entity, 

mans because the nahel bond exists in spiritual realm and impacts the spiritual DNA so even if spren stays back on Roshar, the bond is not broken and surgebinding would still be possible.

Yes a spren probably can not travel but since nahel bond exists in the spiritual DNA and therefore in the spiritual realm, the bond exists so a Radiant will be able to use both of his surges and all the other things like healing etc will happen. 
However, it might take too long to summon shards on other planet. 

A Scadrial when actively burning metal only will be harder to lash. 
Similar to how kaladin can lash shallan while flying..
