  1. I agree with you, it's almost impossible, Problem is: the almost only way to pick a shardblade is when the owner die,but in that case why she swing it against the Soulcaster? There's no reason, she needed it, i suppose the Soulcaster was the father's(probably dead now) wrist, maybe along the fight he casted it on a whim and him not being (likely) neither used to cast one nor trained by accident evocked it with the hand toward the other hand and cutted the the SC, now that i think about it maybe it's the release/death of the spren that caused his death and the fire( there was fire right?), or when a spren is released/dead the Stormlight is released from the fabrial as heat.
  2. Regarding this matter i have more than a few words to say 1 did the father really have the shardblade? if true, why? How he obtained it? It's not a family heirloom or similar because he would have sell it ( trying to be furtive...) or make some kind of agreement and Voilà no more money problem. Or he had something very important to do that needed the use of Sharblade?( becoming the prince/king through the killing of the other royals and then defending his position, maybe with the backing of the Ghostblood) but why no one know about it(the brother, if he is really the knight could have been involved)? If not, how he obtained it? From the ghostblood? They really are so powerful to have two shardBlade to give away like this? And why do they need to kill Amaram? If it's something personal, how it's possible that he bought/obtained with so many issues? Found one? Maybe related to the maps? And why Shallan killed him? It was only for his personality? He tried to violater her?(though he doesn't seem the type) She found out something about him (Shardblade, or some dark affair) and had a fight with him that degenerated? And how she killed him? she doesn't seem " strong ", an accident? if so why there was fire? and why she wielded it and used it (on the soulcaster and possible on something else) if he was dead, maybe he keept it somewhere although i find it really improbable because it's too dangerous, themost easy way to hide it is being the holder. But there are stil a lot of problem like: being his father he really had the courage to invoke it against his daugher? and how the heck she grabbed it? i don't think it's the weapon of the murder because it would have caused an uproar in his family and we would have known by now. Maybe she Found it, the father became aware and they had a fight? SOmeone said that maybe she only feels responsible and not actually killed him, maybe someone attacked him and she tried to defend him and failed. An-nn-d maybe- aah aaah-(cough of tireness) Hoid appeared behind the father, touched him and said " I'm the death" or even better " I'm darth vader" and he had a heart attack. So many possibilities, i'm really eager to find out what happened, but i don't know if i really want to have her as the second POV, and to me, it seems that -plot talking- the POV of dalinar must be the second,it can't be postponed( he is the damned Highprince now). Pardon me if i was -in any means- confusing and repetitive. I Beg your Endless Mercy Your Faithful Servant
  3. You're right about the no couples....All Mens love threesomes....
  4. Regardin the reason of the creation of A Nahel bond i'm inclined to the "Act along your traits" and regarding Shallan i have something to say, just because one time you decieved a person doesn't mean you're not a honest, sincere person and Shallan did feel guilty about this all time (before and after the act). Btw i also agree about the doubt as another thing that concern the Bonding, though i also think there must be something else because as someone before me stated it's strange that for so many time there weren't any Surgebinding user. May the reason be about the Shards or the "destiny" or being excellent at something (like Arcadia said), this i not know. Another Thing: If the Spren are attracted by the acts, Shallan does acts honestly along the book (except the stealing thing) and after all it's not a lie tha she was glad to have as a teacher Jesna. My point is: The stealing is not the only reason why she wanted to become Jesna's student, she also wanted to follow her passion (study) and isn't this honest? Jesna -while seeing his drawing book- did say that she(Shallan) dedicated his life to the study of the world or something like this, right? And seeing and drawing the world as it is falls in the Sincerity area, After all almost all his drawings were what she saw and preserved in his memory not works of imagination. I can say she is a valid candidate as "food" for Truth SPren
  5. I would really keep myself out of this love theories for now, because the charachters w are talking about didn't even met so we have no basis, so they're more likely fantasies right? Like the fact that i want Shallan with Kal and not with Adolin cause i don't like him I know there's lots of people who disagree with me on this, but I still support the "Honorspren is a General Term" theory. Wonder if I should make a formal theory thread for that? How can Honorspren be a general term, in dalinar's vision you can clearly understand that there are Surgebinding spren and that honorsprens are a subcategory because not everyone has a honorspren , but they still have a spren. But what i don't understand it's that later he says(nohadon) " there are princes, kings, Surgebinders, Soulcasters" why he distinguish Soulcasting from Surgebinders, are The truth spren not included in the Nahel Bond? And the Soulcasting isn't a Surge? Maybe you don't need to establish a bond with the spren to Soulcaster, I remeber that when Shallan first Soulcasted she didn't even talk with the sprens, while Kaladin powers started to show after Syl appearance, unintentionally sure but still true. But Shallan was able to see them befor they talked to them saying Who are you? Maybe it works in a different way for each type of spren, or Perhaps even for each spren(Maybe they are all unique in a way) Edit: Or maybe there's no general term . i rember that Syl says " I Surgebing things" so maybe the Surgebinding sprens don't have to be only honor spren. We don't even know if the other orders actually have other powers.
  6. Yes, Lashing was the word is was searching for when i talked about changing gravity, sorry if i was confusing. It's that i'm italian and of course i readed Twok in my mother language, and if i culd be OT a second i'd like to ask something: i succedeed in reading Warbreaker and Elantris in english and so i'd lik to ask if you think i could read Twok and sequels too(don't wanna wait 1 year) or it's to complicated? 1 About the shockwaves i think Szeth would have used it or at least knew about it, It seems he's been trained very well(or maybe alone, or from his spren if he ever had one), Otherwise it's a privilege of those who maked the Oath, maybe as other said in ther topics the next Oaths will grant some new ability. If i remember correctly two orders used Lashing, am i right? Stonewarden are one? Although i don't really know what the other orders do except Soulcasting (two orders too right?).
  7. Guys maybe i'm wrong but i remember reading a extract that showed Hoid(dear old friend) speaking to her as she was trying to determine the materials of the prison saying something like it's my fault you're in prison because you stealed something i stealed before you. actually i was wondering if Hoid in the future will finally be the main character, maybe in some short story but it's only an interesting thought.
  8. I don't really see Shallan learning how to use a blade because she wants to study and at least for now she see her shardblade as a curse. And i know Renarin is happy because with help of the plate or the possible help of Soulcast he can overcome his blood weakness and be ready to BATTLE! MOAR! But there were some hint in the book about him liking doing something but he didn't admit it( I don't remember what was it, maybe something about the Ardents) so he could decide that his Vocation is not the warrior. Supported from the fact that he doesn't really match up. (pardon me for the English Errors if there were any)
  9. About the Shardblades: in the Stormblessed site a man made a theory really really interesting, mostly because he said that some fans traduced the Alethi language in the two Pages of the Notebook of Navani, obviusly this is a spoiler because it's not in the book. The link is here.Link (I don't know if someone already posted and talked about this, in that case i'm sorry) Now this explain why Syl dislike the Shardblades and the unique blade of Szeth althought why his eyes become blue? From the images we see that the spren are trapped in these gems because after the KR disappeared humanity probably wanted to emulate their powers. With this i start to wonder, if it's like this then will Syl become a shardblade? (the construction of the plate remain unsolved) also because it'd be kinda difficult to beat Szeth without a Shardblade or the help of Adolin. (sorry for some of the Offtopic) Edit: Actually if spren were really in the shardblades why Syl wan't made in one?(she obviosuly has something to do with KR) And i think in the book Re T. said to Szeth"you received your sword from your people". But i don't see Syl becoming a Shardblades. What are your thoughts?
  10. If i can say my theory, personally i don't think that surgebinders can create shockwaves but i can't prove it so let's just leave this out, now my opinion is: 1 That Wave released when Kaladin make the Oath could be motivated by the fact that after the Oath the benefits you gain from the StormLight increase and so maybe as a side effect they provoke that and because is really cool and badass 2 Regarding your quotes about kaladin falling i think it's unrelated, because to me this is the proof that with the stormlight you can survive falling up from high and support the fact that KR fall from the sky like meteors and don't die as we have seen in the dalinar's visions, i don't know how they go up there, maybe using Surgebind powers and changing the gravity so that they fall... up in the sky. Just a theory, and there's the problem of the other orders, how they go up there? Oviously using balloons....
