I think Vornism right. I think Jezrien merged somehow with the cognitive shadow of Honor. I think he holds a splinter of honor rather than the whole shard, but the conflict between Honor's intent, vorinisms view of honor, and Jezrien's flaws drive him mad. -

I don't have the quotes in front of me, but Stormfather says he is the Almighty's Spren. We are pretty sure that Spren are splinters. But he is also likely the first herald, and thus a human being holding a large chunk of Honor's power. Would that make him a sliver as well, or is he still just a splinter like Endowment's Returned, who used to be men as well?

Words of radiance spoilers. Warning: Hmmm interesting. Well we know the shards even when their holder dies remain quite powerful. See Stormfather for instance after the death of Tanavast. The opposite though, of the person remaining powerful even after they no longer hold their shard, that is interesting. I suppose it sort of happened with Kelsier and Preservation. The word sliver is suprising. If ati's will remains, I'd guess it would be as a splinter that escaped ruin (since splinters can have a different intent than their shards). (Btw...Stormfather is probably both a splinter and a sliver. I should start a thread about that in Stormlight archive forum) I think we will learn a lot more about how powerful beings (such as Kelsier, Ati, Aona, or Tanavast) can still be sort of around after death, via that book as well as Stormlight 3-5. I imagine the feruchemical use of nicrosil and alumminum are related to it, at least on Scadrial.

This dilemma of hero vs. villain being an unclear line pops up in all the cosmere works. Perhaps it is even the great theme of the cosmere. I salute Sanderson for continuing to wrestle with this question rather than just saying "meh, its all grey" and writing a bunch of inconsistent antiheroes. As they discuss in Warbreaker, every man is the hero of his own story. I think one answer would be a discredit to Sanderson, who might build to something better, but I'd say that the villains of the Cosmere ask others to make the necessary sacrifice. The heroes may do the same, but also make the sacrifice themselves. By this definition, Kelsier is a hero, and the Lord Ruler is not. (Though Sazed rightly sympathizes with the difficulty of TLR's position, being in a similar one now himself)

I suspect "the God Beyond" is actually God. I don't know much about Mormonism, but I suspect it is a nod to Sanderson's own faith. For similar examples, see Tolkien's use of Iluvatar (not sure I spelled that right) as a reflection of his Catholicism. I doubt it will factor in as a character in the same way as Adonalsium. Though it is suggestive that "Adonai" means "Lord", so maybe they are the same.

If compounding, I would say Double-Duralumin. Basically, everyone feels connected to you, so instant fame and/or you are always treated as a human being. Don't get me wrong, double Chromium, gold, and Zinc are pretty awesome too. If not compounding, perhaps a Selfsoul and a Rioter. I'm an actor, so I imagine you could do some very interesting things with Selfsoul abilities in creating your character. Then you can riot the audience emotions you want at the same time.

I have been thinking for a while how Marvel characters' abilities might translate into a Mistborn magic system. To be clear, I am not counting the politics or technology of either world, merely how the superpowers of Marvel would translate best to the metallic arts. Magneto: Skimmer who was granted a Coinshot and Lurcher hemalurgic spikes (Maybe two each). Quicksilver: Natural born Steelrunner given a Coinshot spike. The spike had been out of a body so long, it degraded to the point that he cannot push steel, just burn it to compound speed. Scarlet Witch: Double Chromium. Enough said. Wolverine: Bloodmaker. He was granted a number of helmalurgic spikes that turned him into a helmalurgic creation with retractable claws. His memory was destroyed by the process, but he has enhanced senses (perhaps the Bless of Perception) and can compound health. Seeing a past self he cannot recall when he burns gold leaves him gruff and irritable. The Hulk: A Koloss, but instead of four iron spikes, he has double-pewter/double-gold instead. I think he was a natural Auger before the transformation. Professor X: Double-spiked with some sort of zinc-atium and brass-atium alloys that lets him insert and read thoughts. The spikes are in his spine and destroy his ability to walk. Captain America: Pewterarm/Pinacle Twinborn. Hawkeye: Tineye, obviously. Daredevil: Two eye-spikes blinding him but granting him the blessing of perception or the ability to compound tin. Mystique: A very skilled Kandra Mister Fantastic: Kandra spiked with a Archivist/Sparker abilities instead of one of the traditional blessings. The Invisible Woman: I still say gold and electrum alloyed with lerasium allow you to push and pull on light. The Human Torch/Iceman: Similarly, I still say zinc and brass allowed with Lerasium let you push and pull on heat. Purple Man: Rioter/Connector Twinborn. Kingpin: Trained as a Hazekiller Beast: Also a pseudo-koloss, but with the blessing of presence, one tin spike, and one Thug's spike instead of the four iron. And that is all I can think of at the moment, but I will add more when I do. Feel free to add your own or find better combinations.

Before I finished, I figured she had a godmetal spike, say Atium/Zinc. But since her spikes were of a metal unknown even to Harmony, I'm going to guess it is a side effect of her association with Trell.

I came up with theories for Lerasium alloys years ago, and everyone laughed at me. (They are not laughing now that I stole their abilities with Hemalurgy). Anyway, from that old theory, here are three pairs that fit your criteria: Iron+Lerasium: Pulls metals towards each other. Steel+Lerasium: Pushes metals away from each other. Brass+Lerasium: pushes heat away from the allomancer. (May need to grant some immunity to cold as well, if it effects one's own body heat. Or perhaps that is the danger of using the metal. PS: Perhaps a firesoul/soother twinborn could become a living flamethower using this metal. Or maybe that is just my love of comic books corrupting my theories) Zinc+Lerasium: pulls heat towards the allomancer. (Perhaps this grants immunity to heat while it is being burned, as I imagine the allomancer would overheat quickly. PS: this might be a quick way for a Firesoul/Rioter twinborn to fill his brassminds.) Gold+L: Pulls on light. (i.e. increases shadows around the allomancer.) Electrum+L: Pushes on light (i.e. makes the allomancer appear reflective. rather useless)

I'm fairly certain creating mistings is a mere side effect of Lerasium alloys, and I'm sticking to that theory until I hear convincing evidence otherwise. From coppermind wiki "Alloys of lerasium have the side effect of turning those who burn them into Mistings of the metal lerasium is alloyed with. The primary effects of lerasium alloys is also unknown. "

I'm confused, which is it? Does burning Lerasium alloys just mean increased power, or does it create a different effect. And I'm curious where Brandon talks about this. New to the forum.

@ CrazyRioter. From the table of allomantic metals: "In alloyed form, [Lerasium] produced various expanded physical and enhancement effects" The creation of mistings is a side effect of burning a lerasium alloy, not the primary effect. @Aethling. You may be right, but I hope not; that would be so boring. Plus, it is inferred in the ars arcanum of AoL that Lerasium alloys can store new feruchemical traits. This suggests to me that the alloys are new allomantic metals as well, much like malatium is different from either Gold or Atium.

This is just for fun, but I did put some thought into it. Like many people, I've come up with a list of the possible effects of each of the 16 alloys of Lerasium. Assumptions I've made: 1) Atium is an external metal, that, when alloyed with gold, makes an external metal (Okay, that is debatable). I assumed that Lerasium counted as an internal metal. Thus, I believe Lerasium alloys can be internal, even though the unalloyed metal is external. 2) I assumed that Lerasium did not have the power to make internal metals external. 3) I assumed that all Lerasium alloys would be related to physical/enhancement allomantic powers, even if the metals were temporal/mental. 4) Since burning Lerasium+anything makes a misting, I have to assume the mistings can burn their associated Lerasium alloy as well. I.e., a Lurcher can also burn the iron+Lerasium alloy. I'd be interested in hearing what you think of this. Okay, so here we go: Iron+Lerasium: Pulls metals towards each other. Steel+Lerasium: Pushes metals away from each other. Tin+Lerasium: Dulls senses (similar to a windwhisperer storing senses). Pewter+Lerasium: Heals the body of damage done by pewter-dragging, flaring metals too long (i.e. savants), and heavy metal poisoning. Brass+Lerasium: pushes heat away from the allomancer. (May need to grant some immunity to cold as well, if it effects one's own body heat. Or perhaps that is the danger of using the metal. PS: Perhaps a firesoul/soother twinborn could become a living flamethower using this metal. Or maybe that is just my love of comic books corrupting my theories) Zinc+Lerasium: pulls heat towards the allomancer. OR grants increased understanding of allomancy in some way. (I am most unsure about this one. It doesn't fit with assumptions 2 and 3). Copper+Lerasium: Prevents Hemalurgy from operating within the copper cloud. Gold+L: Pulls on light. (i.e. increases shadows around the allomancer.) **does not fit with assumption 2, but I really like the idea. Electrum+L: Pushes on light (i.e. makes the allomancer appear reflective. rather useless) *also does not fit with assumption 2, but my hope is that a mistborn burning both these metals could manipulate light in such a way as to become invisible. Bendalloy+L: allows a time bubble that moves with the allomancer. (not an entirely original idea. I think I read a similar theory in another forum). Cadmium+L: Allows one to leave a time bubble. (same as above. not my original idea). Aluminum+L: Allows one to "smolder" metals. (i.e. the opposite of flaring. Burns a metal more slowly and less powerfully for more delicate or subtle allomantic work) Duralumin+L: enhances the next metal burned without exhausting the supply of that metal, in other words, gives a duralmin boost without the negative side effects. Chromium+L: Transfers allomantic abilities from one person to another, but without killing the donor like hemalurgy. (not sure if permanent or temporary). Nicrosil+L: Transfers feruchemical abilities from one person to another, but without killing the donor like hemalurgy. (again, not sure if permanent or temporary). There it is. Comments? Criticism?
