  1. Could it be possible that the Everstorm is an Unmade? (Similar to high storms being of the Stormfather?) Not all of the Unmade have been accounted for, and what they can influence. If this isn't the case do let me know!
  2. I believe that whatever returns the Fused also returns the Heralds. So there must be a correlation as to where they go, and how they escape... Any ideas?
  3. When you slip on some ice and try and play it off as an Edgedancer...
  4. Welcome! And as mentioned above, be wary of those distributing all baked goods... You never know what you'll find in them!
  5. Thankfully as a Spren, I have no need to nourish myself, so I shall politely decline your cookies, although I'm concerned that you seem capable of luring those less aware (and informed) than myself! Things are still a bit cloudy as I regain my sentience... But I do recall someone proffering me cookies in Shadesmar millennia ago.... Surely that couldn't have been you? @Ookla The Idiot
  6. I'm trying to figure out what Sja-anat meant by "we were made, then unmade". Could it be that the Unmade were initially splinters from a different Shard to Odium, and then he corrupted them? Or they were initially Spren who were 'made' (similar to Syl being born/made by the Stormfather), and then due to Odium's influence, they were corrupted into the Unmade? Also what is happening in terms of Hungerspren not being corrupted by Sja-anat, although many others were in Kholinar? So many questions, not enough answers!
  7. When was this!? I completely missed it!
  8. Hmm... That is a valid point... Didn't even cross my mind!
  9. Hello, So I'm curious to know if you guys have any theories or links regarding this. Please correct me if I'm wrong! (A lot was happening in the book and I may have missed bits!) In chapter 84 - "The One You Can Save", there is some dialogue between Sja-anat and Shallan: We were made, then unmade, she agreed. But no, not an enemy! The figure turned humanlike again, though the eyes remained glowing white. It pressed its hands against the glass. Ask my son. Please. Now is it possible that Sja-anat is Pattern's mother, similar to how the Stormfather is Syl's father? I personally don't see how that's possible, but Sja-anat saying "ask my son", sounds as if she is assuming that Shallan knows who Sja-anat could be relating to. Also the fact that Sja-anat is known as the Taker of Secrets, and Pattern and Shallan's bond grows stronger when she admits certain deep truths regarding herself (such as killing her mother). Sja-anat can also change her appearance, thus looking like someone else. (Pattern is constantly shifting between different appearances). The origin of the other spren associated to the Knights Radiant has never been fully clarified (as far as I know), could it be possible that the remaining nine spren types are associated to the nine Unmade, but before they became the Unmade? (This does clash with the idea that some of the spren are from Cultivation, and the fact that is a definite stretch, so I'm just throwing ideas out there!) Best, A Dopey Spren
  10. I understand! A lot is happening at once in these chapters (as they tend to be with Sanderson!) Later on when arriving in Shadesmar, the guardians are described and one is obviously corrupted from the description. But that is more or less all that is spoken about regarding the Kholinar gate spren.
  11. @Goatborn From what I understood, Shallan was speaking directly to Sja-anat. Last page of Chapter 85 - "Grieve Later" there is a conversation between Sja-Anat and Shallan: This shows the discussion between Shallan and Sja-anat, rather than the Oathgate's spren. There are other incidents of them both speaking to each other in earlier chapters.
  12. @TheVillageIdiot Don't tempt me!
  13. The entire book had me on the edge of my seat. As someone previously mentioned, that chapter 'Unity' in which Dalinar finally confronts and overcomes his past, gave me goosebumps. I never felt much for Elhokar, but when he started speaking the words I was grinning, almost cheering on the train. Quickly followed by a gasp, my jaw dropping and looking about confused when Moash executes him. Sanderson's talent at yanking the reader's emotions about is both unnerving and extraordinary.
  14. @Ookla the Heraldic Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. Didn't know whether he meant Honour's Investiture or Honour as a Shard in which spren may derive from.
  15. I'm curious about this as well. I just remembered that in Oathbringer: So it seems that Sja-Anat not only corrupts the design of the spren, but maybe the way they operate?
  16. From what I understand the abilities are gained from the spren when there is a Nahel bond with the Surgebinder. The human receives the abilities of a Surgebinder, whilst the spren becomes sentient and can manifest in the Physical Realm, rather than just the Cognitive Realm. From what I've read I haven't found anything associating a connection between the Surgebinder's spren and Honour for the abilities to work. Also is there any reference to whether Inkspren (the Elsecaller spren) are splinters of Honour rather than Cultivation? (As Truthwatchers, and I'm sure others, are thought to be of Cultivation). I'm genuinely curious! Please correct me if I'm wrong! Best, A Dopey Spren
  17. Thanks for the warning! I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled...
  18. Hello fellow fans, Having read Sanderson's books for a good four or so years, I though it was finally time to join the 17th Shard community (as I have been secretly lurking throughout these forums for a while). So hi everyone! Best, A Dopey Spren
