  1. Agreed. The common Rosharans aren't going to stop using the term overnight.
  2. I think Kaladin seems to most "real" to me so has always been a favorite but I have a soft spot for Brandon's "weird" characters. Wayne & Lift come to mind. Even Tung Fa (sp?) They provide a nice "lightness" even when in some cases they are horrible people. To make sure I do this properly going forward, if there are multiple posts I would like to respond to I should separate quote each one into a single post?
  3. That is a tough one. I can't say that any 1 stands out over the others so it is the one I am looking at as i crack open another Sanderson masterpiece for the first time.
  4. I've tried to think about this and it tends to always change but at the moment I think I'd take Warbreaker as it seems to only be limited by the will and imagination in the awakening. That is as long as I had enough breaths. It could just be that I'm fighting a nasty cold so want the disease resistance and it has been so persistent I'm afraid I'd see it as part of myself so stormlight wouldn't heal it. Had an additional thought after I posted. I'm also very intrigued by what is possible that hasn't been shown but only hinted at. Thinking of the scene where Vasher whispered to a child that had seen too much.
  5. Although I agree with the general concept. I don't necessarily agree that stopping the use of the term Voidbringers is necessarily about political correctness as much as seeking clarity. With the knowledge that humans were the original "Voidbringers" it just makes the use of the term confusing.
  6. I just realized that I don't think I ever introduced myself even though I have a handful of posts. I've been reading Brandon since I believe the only books he had published were Elantris and Mistborn Era 1. I've read all of the Cosmere except White Sand and most of the non-Cosmere. I've been a long time lurker but planning to try to continue to be more involved with discussion except once we are to live on RoW will be avoiding like the plague until I finish it as if I get on here at all it is too tempting to peak into spoilery things. Thanks for all of those who have put in all the work to make this site. It has taken the best parts of some of the best WoT boards (I mainly used Dragonmount but have no idea what my username was) of the past and then went above and beyond (that timeline and map is crazy cool). I'm not one to get to personal online but to get a feel for my personality a few thoughts: I believe Oathbringer is Brandon's finest novel to date but actually enjoyed reading Words of Radiance more. I can't really explain why other than to use a music example: I think Alice in Chains made better music than Peal Jam, and at times REALLY like their work I still listed to Pearl Jam more often. I think it is a matter of tone. The dark is beautiful but when it gets that deep I prefer small doses. Even though some aspects of Kaladins' struggles hit really close to home, I can relate more closely with Dalinar. Probably because of age. 20 years ago it 100% would have been Kaladin. Emperor's Soul may be even better than Oathbringer. It's been a long time since I last read Mistborn but I remember loving Ham and Breeze's interaction. That was a wonderful Bromance. Now time for what some may find as unpopular opinions.... I slightly prefer Mistborn ERA 2 to ERA 1 and think Wayne is funny. That is enough Rambling for now. As I said, will try to be around as a poster more.
  7. Perhaps she discovers her mother in the garden with a lover (either the Skybreaker of some other) and that leads to her finding out her brothers are all not Lin's children and thus she is heir (a big deal in their culture). I don't think that would be traumatic enough by itself but if this is the key to unlocking other memories like if her mother was also not at all she wants/likes to remember but was every bit as abusive (perhaps emotionally instead of physically) as Lin was/became. Basically mostly agree with others posts about her romanticized memories of her early family life being a lie along with trying to think of what the "garden scene" was that she doesn't want to remember. Not sure exactly how an Unmade plays in other than perhaps some or all of the destructive behaviors were caused/amplified by an Unmade.
  8. I believe the Fused could be seen as "gods" or at the least Gavilar would have mistakenly thought of them as such. Since it is Gavilar that used that term here I think it is his perception that matters. In other words I think a Fused is another legitimate 3rd option.
  9. My instinct is that your are correct in that we are seeing the effect of lots of investiture rather than an aspect of any particular Unmade but some physical aspects being affected but not all does seem strange. I think we are on the right track but don't have enough information yet.
  10. I understood is as the affects of the Revel were mostly contained to the Oathgate platform, or at the least were much more concentrated as one got closer to the Heart. There did appear to be time dilation affects in both though. There was partially/mostly rotten food in the revel and clothing of revelers toward the heart showed quite a bit of wear but that would seem to be the affect of days or weeks of wear and rot not months. Definitely more to learn regarding what was going on with time near the palace during that period.
  11. I had forgotten about the beards. It seems time perception was scewed but not physical (beard), but how does that make sense that they survived for months only eating 3 times? I still think something strange was going on with time there but I don't think we have enough information yet to determine how or why or what implications that has.
  12. Sorry if this was already mentioned, haven't read all the discussion yet, but I think Gav is small "for his age" because of the strange time dilation that was going on in the palace. Like the freed "loyalists" who were shocked when they found out how much time had passed.
  13. WoB has confirmed we will at least get Wit in the epilogue. It was the same one where he confirmed Hoid left Jasnah before she got to Urithiru.
  14. Hoid also had to inform Jasnah that the Voidbringers had already returned. He was pretty blunt about it if I remember correctly. Basically was like "yeah too late to warn us about the Parshman. Some are already tranformed." That leads me to believe she may have some knew knowledge to drop but while she was in Shadesmar events might have passed by that have already revealed much of what she learned.
  15. Long time reader, first time poster. Sorry if this has already be theorized but the WoB that someone pointed out that the Nahel bond can either fill the cracks in a persons soul or widen then further sparked a thought. What if a Radiant was "taken" by an Unmade (like Shallan had to resist) and the realization that the Nahel bond enabled that to occur led to the Recreance when the Orders decided it was too big a risk to allow the bonds to continue. I haven't thought through it enough to think if the timeline would work but am not finding too many holes in the theory. As I type one doubt I have is that the lack of orders wouldn't necessarily stop new Nahel Bonds and Radiants without the orders might be more susceptible without the Orders to teach/watch their members. Sorry if I am missing something huge here but thought it interesting enough to be worth signing up and posting. *edit: fixed typo
