  1. Screencap of the WoB. But apparently, some Shards tend to be followed by certain numbers.
  2. Just as the title says. I read in WoB that each of the Shards coincide with a number. Theories are accepted here so they don’t need to be concrete. Theories I’ve seen so far: Endowment: 5 Odium: 9 Honor: 10 Ruin: 11 Preservation: 16 Any other numbers for the other known Shards?

    Thanks! Appreciate the response.
  4. ‘Tis the season. For cookies.
  5. What is this “Brandon Sanderson” of which you speak? Is that some brand of cookie?

Thanks! Tbh, I’m not all that used to displaying anything I’ve drawn. It’s good to see such a nice response.
  7. It’s a pretty good series. The thing is, you have to read it for what it is. Some people go into it expecting a tone like LotR or some other fantasy series only to come out disappointed. But if you go into it to read about a monster slayer tied up in destiny’s plans in a fairytale world, then you’ll end up happy. If you’ve played the game, the stories match up fairly well with the general tone. Some official book translations aren’t as “pretty” as some fan translations though. An example is how a character uses the phrase “stars in a gladed pool” in a fan translation whereas the official translation says something along the lines of “starry skies in a very still lake.” Still an interesting series either way.

Basically a quick colour palette test. Not a final design, but it’s getting there. Done to see how the different elements come together.
  9. Is this basically saying that Odium is a candidate for the Cosmere's big bad? Because if so, I can really get behind this.
  10. Interesting. I was thinking tv series for the sake of packing in as much of the books in as possible. (most people don't like that stuff was left out of Harry Potter and LotR) but if Sharders are generally okay with that, then that's great. Multimedia exposure would, in some instances, help give a presence to the Cosmere line. Having a foothold in movies and Netflix would be a fair strategy for the Cosmere. In this case, we'd have to start the film sequence with our best foot forward. Probably Mistborn. The magic system is easier to understand and the environment is similar enough to here where the audience can find it to be somewhat relatable. As soon as we get people on board, we move on to the more 'alien' planets. Allomancer Jak would be a good series of animated shorts. Maybe told in a grainy old west film style? We could have Jak narrate the actual events. The look of the series would be a cheesy animated spaghetti western fantasy. If it's successful, we could have some original stories done for the series.
  11. The approach started off simple, but... the person I was explaining things to is so inquisitive they may as well have hemalurgic spikes.
  12. A few theories about the Cosmere compiled. Does anyone else think that Era 4 Mistborn will be about a space war between the Scadrians and the Rosharans? Mr. Sanderson has been pretty tight-lipped about who The Ones Above were. My theory is that they were Rosharans. Given the fact that the entirety of Stormlight Archive will take place at roughly the same time as Mistborn Era 2, we know that by Mistborn Era 4, hundreds of years will have passed. Roshar, by that time and using stormlight as well as the surgebinding and fabrials, could have discovered FTL travel as well. He has described it as a space opera and by definition of the genre, space opera is about intergalactic battles among planets. He has also described Era 4 as involving a clash of cultures and planets. Another thing I was thinking was that the Era 4 Scadrians are probably moving between planets by somehow enhancing Steel Pushing and Iron Pulling. They Push from Scadrial and steer by Pulling themselves to other planets where they want to land on. They can also correct their trajectory with small Pushes and Pulls. I don't know the composition of planets in the Cosmere, but would it be safe to assume that they have a metallic core that can be acted upon?
  13. @hwiles This is pretty helpful. Thank you. So, would it be correct to say that the potentiality of Investiture is essentially limitless so long as it falls within the parameters of the Cosmere's established laws? This was actually where my confusion was. In explaining what I could about the Cosmere, I was asked, "So can anyone with Adonalsium's power do whatever they want?" and found that I couldn't answer this.

    Ho there, fellow bridgemen!
  15. So, I was trying to explain the basic Cosmere mechanics to someone trying to get into it and realized that I know surprisingly little about how investiture works. I read the wiki and I’m still unclear on a few things. I know that investiture follows it’s own set of rules like it can’t be created or destroyed. It also permeates everything since everything sprang from Adonalsium in one way or another, and it can also give sentience. But it’s been referred to as the power of creation which hints a bit at its capabilities. My question is, can it do anything? Example: can it be manifested as, I don’t know, a unicorn with licorice hair if it was applied just so? Can a Shard make any magic system it wants to? I know that what the Shard does with the investiture is partly motivated by it’s intent. So Honor would want to bind things; stuff like that is clear. But if a Shard wanted, could it use investiture and do something like invest a pen with small reality altering abilities or a monocle that can only blast rainbows at precisely 7 pm? Is the use of investiture NOT limited to what the Shard would want to do with it? sorry if this is a naive question.
  16. Hey Tattersail! Glad you have you here biting bullets. Hopefully, they're made of an allomantically active metal. We wouldn't want you spoiling your dinner by wastefully consuming ammunition.
  17. @TheKittyOfAtlantis Ah. Thank you for linking me. I’ll head over to browse there now.
  18. Elend Venture. I don’t know what it is about him but I read through his parts as fast as I can. Can’t stand him. Moash too. But that’s for more understandable reasons.
  19. I’m not sure if this has been done before but I thought it’d be funny. So like the title says. Explain a Cosmere plot badly. Inspired by this meme.
  20. Wow. I pictured him looking like this sans mustache. Unexpected but still cool. Thanks. There’s no specific clothing he wears, is there?
  21. Looked up memes and came upon some Cosmere. The crab one is my favorite.
  22. Gah. I'll be the first to admit that my set up for using the Luke Skywalker gif was a poor one.
  23. I have no idea what you expect to win here, but
  24. When you start applying Cosmere logic to other shows even if they only fit in loosely. I glanced over the Bleach anime and thought, “The swords are sentient because they’re highly invested objects. The only difference is that the ‘spren’ here came from the people using them.” Same thing happened when I was watching Supernatural and they found an artifact called a ‘Hand of God’ which is an object imbued with God’s power. I thought, “Aah, I see. A splinter.”
  25. Ah, I see. I understand where you're coming from. I'm hoping that the relative success of something like Castlevania would help usher in some more adult oriented animation. Or maybe something like the cgi used in the Witcher 3 cinematics would be acceptable. When you get down to it, animation would be comparatively cheaper and allow for more outlandish visual depictions of the Cosmere series. (I mean, the budget required to show Stormlight alone would be insane). So I was thinking more in terms of what could be "the most bang for your buck".
