I really like this theory. Oathbringer is a book of many parallels (e.g. Dalinar vs Amaram or Kaladin vs Moash) and at the end of OB we could have another parallel that might support this theory. Quite similar things happen here, first Dalinar captures The Thrill with the King's Drop, then Moash kills (or captures?) Jezrien with his gemstone knife. So it does make sense that Jezrien corresponds to Nergaoul. So many parallels... Furthermore, when Jezrien broke and his Unmade, Nergaoul, was made it took away what Jezrien stands for (protection) and twisted it around to create The Thrill that made men kill each other which is the furthest thing away from protecting. I like this calcutlation a lot and it makes a lot of sense to me. 15 desolations sounds about right considering that the Final Desolation would be the 16th desolation and we all know that the number 16 is special...

Yes, the translated books have a very weird style so I'm glad that the books in English are relatively easy to read. But it is so easy to miss small details surrounding the Cosmere that I love reading all the truths and theories here on 17th Shard. It's as if a whole new world opens up before me, one I haven't noticed before. I totally get why Mistborn is your favourite Cosmere series, for a long time it was mine as well but the moment I started reading Way of Kings the first time I totally fell for The Stormlight Archive. But still, Mistborn holds a special place in my heart as it's what got me into Brandon's work. Wow, I think along the same lines for the non-Cosmere works! I really liked The Rithmatist and every year I hope for news on the sequel. Sadly, the State of the Sanderson 2017 announces that we will have to be patient a bit more..

I have to agree with you. You can't be more despicable than Straff. I know many people hate Moash but I just can't bring myself to hate him more than the other characters listed here. I still see him as part of Bridge 4...

Welcome and have an upvote from me too! I'm relatively new as well but my story is pretty similar to yours as I discovered Brandon's work through Mistborn and instantly got hooked. I'm a non-native English speaker as well but I love Brandon's style of writing and don't really warm up to the translations so I mostly read his books in English. That and I really hate waiting for translations What is your favourite book by Brandon?

Thanks for replying! Okay, that's very good to know. Maybe I will have to read Words of Radiance very fast then so I can read Edgedancer before getting to Oathbringer. Waiting a few more days for Oathbringer won't hurt, I think. Especially now that I know that Edgedancer is important. The book sounds pretty amazing in itself so I can look forward to it as well

Hello there! So after reading Brandon's books for many years I finally decided to join this community. I really look forward in reading (and hopefully participating in) all these interesting topics gathered here. I'm from Germany but I read mostly all books in english as I don't really warm up to the german translations. I just finished my reread of Way of Kings and will start rereading Words of Radiance tomorrow so that I can jump straight into Oathbringer. I'm really excited for the book and can't wait to read more about Kaladin, Dalinar, Shallan and co. To my shame, though, I have to admit that I haven't gotten to read Edgedancer yet. Is it important to have read the book before delving into Oathbringer? I definitely want to read Edgedancer either way but I'm really excited about Oathbringer and don't know if I will have the time to finish both Words of Radiance and Edgedancer before the official publication date of Oathbringer.
