Trails of Cold Steel (and the Kiseki series in general)
Eluvianii replied to Zurvanight's topic in Entertainment Discussion
Right after Kondo said no arcs would be as long as Cold Steel. Sure thing. After this I fully believe the last 2 will be as long if not longer. -

Which apparently comes during fall. The predictions were correct, by the end of the year we'll be caught up with Japan. Now if we could only achieve simultaneous releases. -

There's one for each character. If you get I think 3 you can exchange them for an accessory tailored for that character. They required farming tho, I just ignored them and got only the ones I was lucky enough to get without trying. -

Wasn't there like a Cassius door and a tournament door tho? Or were those main story too? -

I agree in a way, spending 30 minutes just watching characters hanging out is great. But these daydreams, or the doors from 3rd for that matter, were also introduced as a way to fight characters you normally would have no reason to. I think that's what that daydream was about, it's for people that wanted to fight the OP characters. -
Finished Final Fantasy XV: The Dawn of the Future. That was way, way better than I thought it would be. When I heard the game had an alternate ending, I kind of went in expecting a small twist at the end and a straight line to the opposite conclusion. Should've figured if that was the case there wouldn't be a whole book dedicated to it. The thing was really well written, characters that didn't have a lot of development in the game get a lot of attention here, it digs at themes that the game introduced but never explored, this is arguably a better ending than the original just based on the work put into it. I certainly believe it is. It goes well beyond wish fulfilling and makes an effort to give actual meaning to the new conclusion, and it really succeeds. I just wish the ending itself was longer. 3 pages does not do justice to everything that happens within them. This is Pride and Prejudice all over again. But regardless I'm glad I read this, it added more value to the experience of this game, I'm less hesitant to call it complete now.

The Ender games? Pretty much everything I believe. I got the first one on PC and the sequel on Switch. Pretty sure they're on Playstation and Xbox too. -

Erika might not be the most beloved character, but she's fun and I like her. -

17, it's a long one. I actually might have skipped that one due to the length, since I wanted to see the ending. Hope it's a good one, last long book we got. -
I guess my hot take would be that Gojo is my least favorite part of jjk... Haven't watched S2 beyond episode 5 tho, maybe he gets better idk.

I think C is the final boss for VM. Possibly. Not entirely sure, I never beat him. -

Just started Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist. Been very excited for this one and so far it's delivering. Ender Lilies is one of my favorite games and, well, this is more of it. I'd be happy enough with that but this one promises to be even better. Where the spirits in Lilies just helped you without saying a word, here they made the homunculi into actual characters, with a part to play in the story and small conversations between them. They removed the use limit for abilities and used a cooldown instead. They gave dialogue to the main character. Overall a more character focused game, which I always appreciate. I was also really excited because Mili also made the soundtrack for this one and as expected they killed it. All of the music is beautiful so far and there's more vocal tracks which I'm pretty happy about. There's more lore, more cool bosses, more beautiful areas, and there's some focus in establishing connections between the two games. Honestly, everything I could have asked of this game. So excited to continue. -

Took them some time but Falcom games have reached and ideal point graphically speaking imo. Wouldn't mind seeing the end with this style. Tokyo Xanadu 2 while we're on that too. -
Finally decided to watch the third season of Classroom of the Eilte. It was pretty good. It's a show I didn't watch years ago because a second season was not even on sight, and waiting has paid off. The 3 seasons we have so far have been quite a ride. I like the balancing act the story does with its tone. It's a motivational story about class unity and personal growth, and it's a pessimistic story about people stepping over one another to achieve their own goals. But it doesn't stay on either side long enough to undermine the other, which also means it never gets depressing enough that it's unbearable to watch. Personally, I love stories that go for a message towards the lighter side of that coin while still acknowledging the darker one. It makes every victory feel all the more meaningful. It's fascinating to watch such a messy group of characters grow so much. It really softens the blow the protagonist is. I mean, he's a good well written character and I like seeing him in action, but I can't confidently say I root for him. So I appreciate having so many other characters I do root for. And there's another two school years for character development to kick in so I can earnestly root for him too. Waiting for a new season is an option, though since they finished the first school year, I guess things might slow down again. From what I've seen there should be enough 2nd year books for a couple seasons, but jumping in right now might result in another years-long drought before year 3. So I think I'll just play it safe and go to the books. Everyone seems to think they're better anyway, reading the protagonist's every thought might make it easier to understand him. Anyway, that's getting off topic. Cool show. Love the overly serious school politics and intrigue. Nice cast. Recommended.

Just finished Monster Hunter World, the base game. Well, kinda, there's a few monsters left but I beat the final boss. Strange experience this, while it took me less than base Rise, it still was a good 50 hours or so, and yet it still feels kinda foreign to me. As if I had just started playing and was getting used to the controls. It actually feels like I only just now got a feel for the gameplay, and that's only because of the farming I did before the last stretch. Still, it was very enjoyable, save for a couple monsters that I'd rather forget are even in the game (I'd heard Kushala was rough on this game but wow, it was such a downgrade from even GU). The new guys are great, Dodogama is the most adorable little boi, the Handler isn't as bad as I was made to expect. Cool game overall. At this point I could just try and finish up the remaining base monsters but I'm pretty excited for Iceborne. And to be perfectly honest I'm not opposed to the idea of going back to those missions sporting master rank equipment and just steamroll them. So on to Iceborne I guess. -

There's a lot yeah. Soon we'll have enough statted Trails characters to make a Pokemon game. -

Worth mentioning that the dungeons have checkpoints and the calendar is a lot more forgiving than Persona. I ended up with 4 extra days that I didn't know how to spend at the end of the game because I had already done everything. -

Just finished Metaphor ReFantazio at a little under 106 hours. This might just become my favorite Atlus game. It takes everything I like about their games and polishes it to perfection. The art is gorgeous, the music is breathtaking, the combat system is incredibly versatile and fun, the characters are amazing company as always. But above all I'm really impressed with the themes here. I've always respected how Atlus likes to pick a central theme for their games, and then take it apart and inspect it from every angle. Well, this time around they chose one hell of a difficult theme and the inspection was particularly thorough. Trying to keep every angle in mind and considering with a level head up to the last few minutes of game. Hats off to them for this, it was incredible. Not to mention the theme in the name itself. Game really explores the word "fantasy". It plays around with it, and the conclusion it arrives to is the central pillar behind the reason fiction is such an important part of my life. It's a sentiment that has helped me through life and lets me enjoy stories in a deeper way than before I had made that realization. So I'm just really happy to have found a game that resonates with me on such a personal level. I'm also incredibly pleased with the time and effort that went into building a good villain. Out of the ones I've seen from the studio, this is the villain with the most character building put into them and it makes the last stretch of the game feel so meaningful. The followers were all great, some were par for the course as I was used to from the Persona series, but others went above and beyond to craft a story of their own, I was on the edge of my seat for some of these. Only very small gripe with the game would be some of the character endings: But again, very small. A small footnote in all the praise I have for the game. Hell, even the nameless npcs get resolutions to their character arcs. I'm so used to Atlus leaving me hanging on those. This is just such a complete experience. 10/10, game of the year, fight me. -
Interesting. I don't think I've read enough to have a set favorite. At the moment maybe Erased, or Evangelion. I liked the few changes the latter did in regards to the original anime. It's a cool different take on the story. Actually, I think a definite favorite would be xxxHolic were it not for the last 4 or 5 volumes. Here's hoping they were actually intentional and Rei does something about it. Also always a good time to mention Flying Witch. Must be the most relaxing coziest stake-less thing I've ever read. Think Kiki but in high school and without the conflict. High recommend.

I was not prepared for Tyrfing. I figured, since soldat battles aren't a thing here, maybe that mini game will be a series of soldat challenges or something. And I mean, I guess it was, but I really wasn't expecting it to be like that. -
Watched Legend of the Eight Samurai. It was a great watch. Very fun, interesting practical effects, good action, and pretty amazing visuals. Some of those shots I wouldn't mind hanging on a frame. Not a whole lot of character development but that was expected. There's only so much you can do with such a large cast in only 2 hours. Speaking of 2 hours though, a lot happens during them. It's a fast paced movie and it makes great use of its runtime. It feels a lot longer than that and I mean that in the best way possible. Enjoyed every minute. I'm starting to notice a bit of a depressing pattern in samurai movies though. In my extensive experience spanning a whole 2 movies, these stories seem to follow the philosophy that in order for one set of characters to achieve happiness, another has to completely give up any chance of getting their own. Not enough happy endings for everyone who deserves them so we gotta pick winners. Idk, hopefully I just happened to watch the outliers, but now I'll have to be wary next time I see a samurai movie.

Far as I can tell that one's only for Alisa. Wish there were more unique ones but there's just too many characters. Biggest sin in the game for me is that Tita's costume "similar to what she wore growing up" is just a color swap. -

Alright, my bad. I went ahead and loaded a save from Act 4 and he indeed looks normal. The look does come back later but yeah, I didn't remember that interim.
