I know my perception is wrong. I know what Sazed really looks like, but I can't stop picturing him as blue-skinned with bracers and earrings. Instead of V-shaped robes, I picture him with a vest with various colored stripes and dark pants. Perhaps I have seen too much Aladdin as he has a similar appearance to Genie. Am I the only one with a skewed perception of characters? If not, what do they look like to you? Even knowing what they really look like.

All those who enjoy Feruchemy and the many possible uses of it, this is the place for you. The purpose of this group is to spread the use itself. Kind of like the Dark Alley and the spread of Hemalurgy. When we see something good in the Creator's Corner, instead of offering them a spiked dessert, we give them something like a ring of Connection. For those who need a bit of a boost, give'em some Determination. Just PM me and I will add you. And don't be afraid to spread it in your own way. I need names. Names for cities, people, animals, landmarks. Really anything associated with worldbuilding. I am working on a novel and am in the process of worldbuilding. On this planet, there are two separate continents separated by a river so deep that they are considered separate continents. The river is almost wide enough to be called a channel. On one continent, the land is all taken up and split into Kingdoms. The other continent is almost completely open and lived on by Clans. The Seventeen kingdoms are patrons to the largest seventeen clans. There is frequent trade between the two. Both continents are nearly symmetrical to one another. There are eighteen basic regions that are associated with the main magic system on this planet. Seventeen regions have semi-magical (Geography is involved to an extent.) borders that keep everything the same. The last region is mixed and variable. On the kingdoms continent, there is a capital of each kingdom and the kingdoms' borders are nearly identical to the magic/natural borders. I want the name of each capital and king/queen to be blatantly or loosely associated to the corresponding element. The elements are in the chart below. Clan leaders the same. I also need names for characters. The cultures are based on the cultures associated with the romance languages (plus a bit of Gaelic and Germanic). By this point in the timeline, nearly everyone has one, two, or all the elements. Holidays would be great too. The only major event is sponsored by the kingdoms and performed by the Clans. The Sterling Star Ceremony. This event contains the ceremony just after sunset and the games and carnival-like celebrations continue on until morning. Most things there cost between an Imus and a Primus. Some selective and experimental things cost more. (See chart below). Things like activities would be great as well. The only major activity I have is four-way capture the flag. The only experimental activity I have set up is a group that specializes in hover technology and magnetism. They have all sorts of playground and skatepark equipment. Important things to know: Seventeen Kingdoms, Seventeen main clans (as well as many other small clans), Each kingdom has a capital, they are in a time period like after medieval but before guns. Canons do exist though. As well as basic mechanical machines. Their time system is different. Their monetary system is different. They are associated with the elements. Culture backgrounds are a mix of Latin, French, Gaelic, Germanic, Spanish, Tribal, and the element they identify with. Also one question. Should I change Bug to something more along the lines of Animal? Any other worldbuilding Ideas would be great. The channel referred to at the beginning is actually a river of power. There is one in every world in the series. This river is the river of Guidance. It bestows symbols of guidance to some. It considered sacred to those who follow the Paths.

You said not music, but music is particularly powerful for me. Some songs give me very vivid scenes, others the mood and others are like an idea generator. Like @Kureshi Ironclaw when I am working, running, or just not doing anything that requires all of my attention I am generating, modifying, and applying ideas. There is also a physical brainstorm. I sit down with a notebook and pen (no pencil, it's too easy to erase and dismiss an idea). Then put a heading at the top of the page and start writing things that apply. I draw inspiration from everything. The actions of people around me, my dreams (I try to write them down as often as I can), the motives behind someone's actions, hiking, doing gymnastics, reading, sitting with my friends and discuss a topic, eating. Another especially important foundation is imaginary games. I just finished my sophomore year, but I had a group of friends that from fourth grade to eighth grade we played imaginary games together. They contain the seeds for almost any fiction I have ever written. The only reason we stopped, was because, in eighth grade, we were split into multiple lunches and without the full group, it kind of died out. We almost revived it, but I moved recently which put a stop to that one. We still communicate and discuss things from those games as well as put them down into writing. For me, just about anything provides inspiration. For me, everything is important. Examples from one of my notebooks:

@Zath That is actually one of the other magic systems. I have six. Spex, Jens, Elements, Legends (Credit to my friend Daniel), Powered Items, and Variance (Credit to my friend Jasmine) Spex and Jens are the oldest magic systems. In Spex are the original Creation Powers: Time, Space, Gravity, Matter, Energy, Life.

I love the suggestions. The one I am adamant about is the Dragon-Psychic pairing. It relates the mechaics behind the elements. There are basically two sides to the elements. There are two parts that determine how they are paired. The only two sets that are complete by the definition though are Light/Dark and Psychic/Dragon. The definition is based on how they differ and how they function together. Both Dragon and Psychic are mostly internal. Dragon is strong and assertive, while Psychic is soft and understanding. It also might help to explain the underlying source of the elements. I had this idea called the Essences. The Essences were basically magic of a specific type, pooled into an energy form. Then I read Sanderson's The Way of Kings and the rest of the Stormlight series and knew where I wanted to take them. I also already had a bunch of other mechanics that were similar to his. I have multiple worlds, the three realms, multiple magic systems, and several others. Think of the essences like spren. Each person that is born with one/two/three/all elements are basically like the people of Nathalis. On the same level is Tier 1 Essences. They are less sentient than spren. It is just a small amount of essence congealed together. Then there are Tier 2 essences. They are basically like lesser spren. Both Tier 1&2 are attracted to the use of their elements, but Tier 2 are like windspren, emotionspren, water&flamespren. Little creatures, with animal instincts. The highest tier is Tier 3. They are like Glys, Ivory, Syl, and Pattern. They are quite a bit rarer than on Roshar, however, but not as rare as a bondsmith spren. There are also Essential and Powered Items. Essential are similar to shardblades, and Powered items are like fabrials. They are different in some aspects as well. Essential items are condensed physical essences. The most common forms are Psychic apparel (i.e. robes, jewelry, and items they carry) and Dragon items (Wings, and scales, and other things). They do exist in the other clans and kingdoms, but are not as common. Powered items are made of a physical material, but are energized with the what would be compared to pure investiture. I named it orgone (nothing to do with the google definition). They have different powers and effects because they are a different magic system. There is also the Psynetwork which is very similar to the internet but allows a form of teleportation and a few other cool tricks. It exists in the cognitive realm and touches the spiritual.

I am making my own magic system. It has been in development for a long time. The issue is I know I want there to be eighteen elements, but I can only think of seventeen. I have put them into pairs as well. I am open to suggestions for the last element Edit: I have come up with the last element, but I need some help coming up with descriptions for each one. Use this link to access the document. It is set to suggesting. That means that I will approve the changes made. .

@hwiles I think you're on to something. Thanks for the idea.

Sort of. That's part of it. The other part is the exercise of creativity. Like with the songs that inspired me. It gives others an opportunity to see and feel how I feel. An example of the analysis for Paralyzed. Looking back on it, the reasons that that song hit me the way it did was because of things like the situation I was in when I first heard it (I had been basically isolated from most of my family and friends), the loyalty I felt towards and reliance on my friends, as well as the mood swings from hormones raging through my body (puberty). Along with that, it helped me realize that if you really were emotionless, you wouldn't care that you were that way. The true mood painted by this song is the realization that you should be feeling one way, but you aren't. You realize that you know you should feel an emotion and that causes you to panic, which in turn causes a strong feeling of desperation. And that wedges you between a state of panic and desperation and apathy. The whole point is that it was powerful enough to inspire you to do something, and this is one place you can share it (as if there aren't enough of those already) and analyze and learn from that source through not only your perspective but others as well (something that there aren't enough opportunities to do).

Basically, it is a place for people to exercise their creativity and find connections to the source of inspiration. For me, it's things like writing and graphic design. For others, it could be animations, music, art, anything that can be posted. It's an opportunity to share what they have done while exploring the connections. My purpose is to show things the way I see and feel them. For example, the feelings and thoughts as well as the images that come to mind when I listen to a song. Or take a small piece from a dream and build it into something else (I plan to share some of those as well.) All in all, it's an effort to take a spark of inspiration/creativity/imagination and stoke it into flames.

Let's say an earth sized metalmind just for kicks. Filled by the Lord Ruler himself.

I'm thinking a pretty ridiculously large metalmind filled completely.
