I don’t think I need to add [OB] considering this is on the Oathbringer spoiler board. And about the flame wars - when I was lurking on the forums a while back, some things got pretty dirty I mean, one guy got called a chull... ouch
-
I know I’ve already made this exact topic but I thought I’d make it again now Oathbringer hype has died down (somewhat). So vote for your favourite, and I you can be bothered, explain why. Don’t start a flame war though. Nah, what am I kidding? Start flame wars all you want!

I’d call myself an aspiring author, rather than a future author A man can dream...

Ha! Our circumstances are basically identical! I’m also thirteen, read over college level, and am probably the only person in my school to have read Brandon Sanderson. Plus I’m in year eight, which is the equivalent to eighth grade, I think. Btw I’m not boasting. I just wanted to point out that we are similar. Are you also looking to publish a book?

I walked right into that

[OB] Lift was the greatest character ever until today
ICanDream replied to What's a Seawolf?'s topic in Stormlight Archive
Let’s hope that that’s the case -
What will happen in book four? Who will die? How will book five end? What happened in the past of some of the characters? Will any turn dark or be redeemed? Who will become radiants? Who won’t? How will the series end? Siscuss what you think will happen later on in the series p.s This is completely unconnected to the main topic, but why are so many people called Ookla?

So when Teft swore the ideals it really annoyed me. Around the forum everyone is commending the moment when he swore the Third Ideal and saying it is emotional, while I just found it frustrating. I find things like this to be a common theme in books. What one character took years to accomplish, another accomplishes in a couple days. I just hate it when everything that one character worked for is made practically worthless when another character does it, three times faster. Now I know Teft probably bonded a spren long ago, but Brandon didn’t show it properly. I think that at the end at the Oathgate he should have sworn the Second Ideal.

How do I join this? I have a story I want to submit, but I have no idea how to submit it.

Ok, so I have found it mentioned multiple times on this forum that Stormlight is a book that is too complicated for children to read. Where does this notion come from? I was eleven when I read Way of Kings and I understood it completely. Granted, I was a high-level reader, but surely it is nothing too hard for a thirteen year old. What are your thoughts.

What is the greatest Stormlight part of all fifteen? I have a feeling that Part Five of WoR will win, but that’s just me.

[OB] What do you guys want from book four?
ICanDream replied to ICanDream's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sorry I didn’t make myself clearer. I mean like a battle as brutal as Kholinar Palace. In the Tower, two thousand men survive. At Kholinar Palace, almost everyone is massacred with very few escaping. There was a happy ending to the Tower (at least somewhat.) I want a battle that cripples the Alethi and co so badly they have to rethink the war -
I was just wondering if anyone has any info on what the troop numbers of the Battle of Thaylen Field were. I’ve inferred that they’re big, and I’m pretty sure that it’s mentioned somewhere that Amaram had around ten thousand men, but other than that, I have no clue. So a few question regarding numbers that I hope my fellow fans know. First, how many casualties were there? Second, how big was the fleet waiting in the bay? Third, how many people were fighting for the alethi/Thaylen side? And lastly, what unmade were present?

I’m curious. What do you guys wish to see happen in book four? Personally, in regards to structure, I’d like a part one and two that are incredibly intimate, and focus on the emotions that Oathbringer sometimes skipped over (moments like Navani and Jasnah being reunited, everyone hearing of Elhokar death, Kaladin and Shallan talk about Heleran etc). Then parts three, four and five are more action packed (with five featuring the infamous Sanderson Avalanche.) In terms of plot there are many things I would like to see. For one, Kaladin swearing the fourth ideal. I want him to do this before Shallan and Dalinar, as he has the most experience with his powers, and a trope I dislike in fiction is where one character achieves in two weeks what another character achieved in two years. So... fourth ideal. i would also like to see Szeth wreak havoc on the Shin. This would give his arc real emotional weight, flesh out his backstory, help to world build and further the plot - as both the remaining honourblades and an oath gate are in Shinovar. Lastly I want an avalanche - one just as epic as the ones previously - where the good guys lose. Something in the spirit of a mashup between Kholinar Palace battle and Thaylen city. But those are just my opinions. What are yours?

Fill out the survey. I want to see how much you guys liked this book

Give a review - a full proper review - of Oathbringer in the comments. Give it a star rating and a reason behind that rating. And vote for the star rating you would give it, and also vote on how it compares to their books.

I just wondered which one is the most popular. My money is on four on one duel, Battle of Narak or Battle of Thaylen Field winning. (For those who are unaware, the battle of Thaylen Field is the battle during the avalanche of Oathbringer.)

Yeah I remember reading that interlude and smiling, thinking about how Tien had been avenged.

[OB] Speculations on the title of book four.
ICanDream replied to Turnblade Jade's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well Eshonai isn’t female. She’s femalen. -
I recently made a topic about which Stormlight book is the best. So, kind of like a sequel to that (I know you Sanderson fans like sequels ), I thought I would ask you about which book had the best avalanche. So... yeah.

Ok, so here’s my in depth ranking of the books in terms of which one is my favourite: 1) Words of Radiance: This book was IMO absolutely incredible. The ending was absolutely brilliant - the imagery in that battle was so vivid, the desperation and tension was electric and the payoff, the discovery of Urithiru, was immensely satisfying. This book also made my love Shallan. For the majority of WoK she was mediocre and that was it. WoR added a depth to her character that made her much more sympathetic. The four on one duel was tense and heart wrenching, and Kaladin being subsequently thrown in prison made me sympathise with him if possible, more. It fleshed out Taravangian and Szeth. And, of course, Szeth’s first appearance was amazing. 2) Oathbringer: This is my second choice, but it is only slightly behind WoR. Again, the ending was amazing with Dalinar and the Words about unity... *degenerates into fangirl screaming* The entire avalanche was on par with WoR’s which is quite an impressive feat. Dalinar’s flashback sequence was the best of all the characters thus far, with Evi’s death at the Rift emotionally effecting me so badly I had to put the book down. I also enjoyed the whole Kholinar subplot. We had previously believed that Kholinar was where the big final battle was going to take place so it was a surprise when it was overrun. And Elhokar was killed. *snuffles* However, what put it below WoR was some of its flaws. For one, some parts felt rushed. For another, viewpoints went a little crazy at the end. And lastly, and this is just my opinion, but I thought the focus of the series expanded outwards far too quickly. It went instantly from Shattered Plains to all of Roshar. Still, it’s my second favourite book. 3) Way of Kings: Lastly, the Way of Kings. This was a great book, but to me, it was far too slow. It started off incredibly, meandered near the middle, then picked up again at the end. Still, it was great. The avalanche was far smaller scale than the ones in the two newer books, but IMO it was just as effective. Tien’s death was harrowing, as was Amaram’s betrayal. I very much enjoyed the Wit chapter, the one with the Wandersail. In most competitions, the Way of Kings would come first, but in terms of best Stormlight books, its very clearly the weakest. jeez that was long

Oh sorry I wasn’t aware of that

Which is your personal favourite. Mine is between WoR and OB. I can’t decide which.
