that was an educated guess based on the fact that so far all the leatherbounds have come out at the 10 year anniversary. and Arcanum Unbounded came out in 2016...

Yeah, that makes sense. So if he's saying the Nalthis essay probably won't appear until AU leather bound that makes me think he has no intentions for an Arcanum Unbounded 2 anytime in the next 10 years.

  2. The first time I heard of Sanderson was when I was in college 6 years ago trying to sell plasma. I was almost passing out and the tech was talking to me helping me stay conscious. He asked what kind of books I liked and when I said fantasy he said I HAD to check out this book called Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson because it was amazing with a really cool in-depth magic.

I think it took me another couple months to get around to finding a copy but IT WAS THE COOLEST BOOK I'D EVER READ!! I really loved how scientific the magic was. I read everything he'd published up to that point (Hero of Ages I think?). Over time I got more and more into being a BranSanFan and I've read almost everything he's written. My favorite is all the cosmere behind the scenes.

He's seriously the best writer in my opinion. I find myself comparing all other books I read to his style of writing. And I think his books just keep getting better and better.

  3. On a scale from Ella Enchanted to Lord of the Rings?

I agree that some things in books just don't work in a movie setting. For example in the Ender's Game movie they completely removed the plot lines with Ender's siblings. I think that was a good move because it would have taken a lot of screen time to properly address and doesn't actually affect Ender.

Ultimately though I really disliked the movie because they changed the core of the main character (to avoid spoilers, they nerfed him). And devoted so little time to battle school, the coolest and longest part of the book.

I'd much prefer TV series adaptations than movies of Sanderson's books. More time to flesh out details!

One more related question, friends! What are some good spots to eat at in Salt Lake City? Any specialties in the local cuisine....bison?

I know you're already back @Aryanath but if anyone else is going to SLC you've got to check out a bar called Lucky 13 for their burgers and fries!! They smoke all their meats in house and are just absolutely amazing.

I wish there were some Sanderson themed shops in the area. I'm going in a couple weeks to visit family and it would be so fun if there were a cosmere store to go to!!!

  5. Is there a place in Chicago he specifically comes to? I'm about a 2.5 hour drive west of Chicago and it can be expensive to get there if you ALSO have to get parking AND pay all the toll roads, etc.

Although I'm going to be 8 months pregnant with twins when Oathbringer releases so this may be a moot point anyway.

I do not know. You could ask Weller Book Works or Team Sanderson directly, or just make sure you're following them on social media. But, for the Bands example, Brandon didn't publicize it until two weeks before release, so I wouldn't expect to see anything too soon.

Does following Team Sanderson on FB mean following "Brandon Sanderson". I usually rely on that for my up-to-date information.

  7. I have looked all over the site and can't find an answer to this. I'm committed now to collecting the Leatherbound editions (yay for not being a starving college student anymore!) and plan to pick up Mistborn: The Final Empire on its 2nd printing that's supposed to be happening this summer.

Has there been any word on if they'll ever print more Elantris Leatherbound? It's still on the store website but says sold out. Is my only option going to be to take to eBay and pay a ton?

  8. Hello! I've never been a member of a forum before. I'm a big Sanderson fan, I've read most of his books (still need to read Alcatraz) but don't want to read his unpublished work if there's a chance he'll publish it someday.

The first time I ever heard of Brandon Sanderson was about 5 years ago when I was a starving college student trying to sell plasma. I was close to passing out and the tech was talking to me trying to keep me lucid and suggested I read this awesome book called Mistborn.

Sanderson is my favorite author, I think he has the best and most compelling writing I've ever seen. Excited to be here!
