The answer to why he ended up so awesome is mostly Evi's love and the fact that he's a perfect blend of her pretty hair and pure amazingness and Dalinar's resilience and millitary skill. Gotta love Adolin!

[OB] A Theory on Odium's champion
Staphylococcus replied to Staphylococcus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes, this is basically what I thought by Odium manipulating him - I think Odium would tell him something like this. But wouldn't leave after shattering Cultivation.- 34 replies

[OB] A Theory on Odium's champion
Staphylococcus replied to Staphylococcus's topic in Stormlight Archive
I ruled Shallan out based on the love triangle thing. (No objective proof there, I know, lol.) But also Shallan and Pattern have the same view on morals, as opposed to Kal&Syl. I think Odium will manipulate Kal based on the fact that he already thinks the war and killing parshmen is wrong. I think Odium will propose to him a "solution" to all the problems and will slowly manipulate him into becoming his champion. I seriously don't think Szeth is going evil again. Shallan has questionable morals but she knows what she wants and doesn't have misunderstandings with her spren. And Dalinar was already a crazy-murdery-guy in his past so I don't think that's happening either.- 34 replies

I don't think the term mimicry specifies wthther it's the shards or Dalinavani. Interesting! Haven't thought of that! (But I ship Shadolin too much, sorry ) That's exactly the reason I DON'T think it would be him. But Dalinar is my choice no.2!- 34 replies

See, this is exactly why I don't think it refers to Dalinar/Gavilar/Navani - because then it'd end up like this and that just doesn't seem like something Brandon would do. (And I think Shallan likes Adolin too much for it to be like this and also that Adolin is nothing like Gavilar.)- 34 replies

I know aimians write them, I just think this one refers to all of Roshar, as aimians, on their own, aren't really significant for the story and probably won't be, at least in the 1st arc. (But yeah, it has crossed my mind!)- 34 replies

[OB] A Theory on Odium's champion
Staphylococcus replied to Staphylococcus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ok, but I don't think it refers to that, I think it's something more important for the events on Roshar than things Brandon does in other stories. And I honestly don't know what else might "one of them may destroy us" mean. (But yeah. This is just a theory.)- 34 replies

Prepare your tinfoil hats and bear with me. So I found this little WoB on facebook: QUESTIONER: Is Adolin and Shallan going to get together, or will Kaladin and Shallan? BRANDON SANDERSON: That is quite the question. I will eventually answer that, but you are getting Read-and-Find-Outed. It is intentionally a bit of a mimicry of something else that happened in the past. [Source: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/34-arcanum-unbounded-seattle-signing/#e5903] And it immediately made me (and other people, based on the comments) think of the Honor-Cultivation-Odium situation that supposedly happened. The obvious reaction to that would be that Shallan, as the female is Cultivation and Kaladin, having a HONORspren would be Honor...or would he? Now let's look at this little blurb from the back of WoK: There are four whom we watch. The first is the surgeon, forced to put aside healing to become a soldier in the most brutal war of our time. The second is the assassin, a murderer who weeps as he kills. The third is the liar, a young woman who wears a scholar’s mantle over the heart of a thief. The last is the highprince, a warlord whose eyes have opened to the past as his thirst for battle wanes. The world can change. Surgebinding and Shardwielding can return; the magics of ancient days can become ours again. These four people are key. One of them may redeem us. And one of them will destroy us. So the possibilities for Odium's champion are: - Szeth (too obvious) - Shallan (we already ruled that out) - Dalinar (but it'd spoil his "redemption arc" with turning from being the blood-lusty Blackthorn to being the wise leader) - Kaladin (who even based solely on this blurb I'd guess to be the Champion.) So we have a proof that the "Darth Adolin" theory that became so popular, seeing him as the obvious choice for the Champion is pure chulldung as he's not even mentioned and if this "love triangle" is really supposed to mimic the situation with rosharan shards, we'll probably all cry for Kaladin. A lot. Feel free to yell at me if you disagree or if this has been said before. OB pre-released chapters spoilers hat (I think) back up Kaladin being the Odium's champion:

But...but...they are so good! And don't you want superpowers?!

Idk if this had been thought about before, but I've just realized, that with the pre-Catacendre scadrian sun being red, and thus, red light falling on the planet, how different must things look! I mean, imagine standing in a room lit by a red-painted lightbulb - everything has a red hue. So with the sun being red, that's basically how everything must look on Scadrial. The scadrian characters, of course, don't notice it as it's what they've always been living with, but imagine how eerie that must look to all the worldhoppers. And how weird the world must seem to scadrians right after Harmony moved the planet back to its original position. Everything would, all of a sudden, be a totally different color! Anyway. This is just something that crossed my mind and I needed to share it with someone.

Greetings, Fellow SanderFans (and an unrelated Question)
Staphylococcus replied to Momph's topic in Introduce Yourself!
@Runeweaver I...don't know, really? I only know that it's epic fantasy about sth called the Mazalan Empire and that there's like million books in the saga I just saw that many sanderfans like it so I've been considering reading it for quite some time now. -

Hello! I've heard a lot about the series - both positive and negative. And I currently can't decide whether or not am I going to give it a chance. So...you recommend it? (Also, EAT THAT COOKIE.) -
I found this today and since I asked this too some time ago I'm gonna leave this here: QUESTION Would it be possible to create a potential Vessel that has a Connection to all 16 Shards? Through a combination of birth planet, genetics, Hemalurgy... BRANDON SANDERSON [Hems and Haws] You… So, terminology--the Vessel holds the Shard. Lots of people have connection to Shards without holding them. So, I’m just gonna RAFO that. You guys got YEARS AND YEARS left, before we’re even gonna discuss. But if I tell you now...like...what are you gonna ask? QUESTION So I got a bit of a Shard-related question. So, the entity that Harmony is, all the other Shards that we’ve had named so far, are any of them combinations, or are they all-- BRANDON SANDERSON Okay, good question. The only one I would count as a combination is the Dor, right? But it isn’t even a full Shard. So everything else--single holder only when we talk about it okay? That’s an excellent question. Or they’ve been Splintered completely.

A theory on recreating Adonalsium
Staphylococcus replied to Staphylococcus's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Eh, I didn't express myself correctly: I meant as they are as in separate, not as they are - wreaking havoc in the Cosmere. I think it was even written in SA, in the letter from Frost to Hoid that Hoid is trying to interfere with what Autonomy and Odium are doing. -
A theory on recreating Adonalsium
Staphylococcus replied to Staphylococcus's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Cool idea! Well, since some of the Shards voluntarily gave up some of their power to the people on their planet (Leras, Edgli) or to create something (Tanavast - Heralds, Rayse - voidspren) I think it would be possible to exchange bits of the power too. -
A theory on recreating Adonalsium
Staphylococcus replied to Staphylococcus's topic in Cosmere Discussion
@Djarskublar I didn't know it was brought up EXTREMELY OFTEN, I've never noticed it, here, or anywhere else, and since most theories have already been thought of...well...sorry for posting? Also, I'm not saying that this is something that will/should happen, actually, I have a feeling that Hoid wants the exact opposite - for the shards to stay as they are - but again, this is just my personal feeling, I don't really think it will happen either. It's just something I thought of as a possibility, since the whole idea of shards, investiture is so complex, it's just fun to think about various things that could happen . -
This is all purely hypothetical and just for fun/an excuse for me to procrastinate. So, when Ati and Vin died and a person who had just enough of Preservation and Ruin in them (Sazed) was present, he was able to take up both shards. Would it, just hypothetically, be possible to take ALL THE SHARDS if the vessels were all killed at the same time/gave their power up (I read somewhere this is possible, don't have the WoB right now, might look for it later) and a suitable "host" was present, thus, basically, recreating Adonalsium??? Or alternatively to go and collect the powers of the shards one after another? This is just something I thought of and would like to read people's ideas and opinions on.

When I first came to the shard, I was offered a delicious cookie which I devoured with pleasure. I think highly of your noble cause and seeing your activity dropping, I would like to offer my help and support.
