  1. Day 22: "Why are you helping me?" Perrin demanded. "I'm fond of you, Perrin." Sounds like Tylee helping Perrin at the battle. Wording makes me think female, and she is the only female I can think of not bound to him by oath or friendship.
  2. I have always interpretted the 1:13 issue as saying no matter how strong you are, a group of the weakest people can overtake you. All together, they could be weaker, but the numbers allow them to overcome.
  3. Day 21: And you don't feel a small measure of pride? Egwene asked herself. Rand al'Thor, once simple village boy and your near-betrothed, now the most powerful man in the world? You don't feel proud of what he's done?
  4. Ouch, the eye. Finished the reread now.
  5. Sounds more like a sparring match to me. As to the black tower vision, it states they are still fighting in exile. the landmark was destroyed, but the men were still fighting.
  6. Pretty nice little sample. You might want to consider rewording some of the passages, especially pretty early on, but that is just me saying I would have worded things differently. I think a better term for when the dog was kicked would be "yelp." It is more sudden, where howling usually takes much longer and is not something from surprise. I would say that it almost has a City of Ember feel. The way you are describing the city being lit and surrounded by darkness. Also, mindmen gave me the impression of graymen aliens. I don't know if that was intentional or will be explained further into the book though. I am definately interested in reading further when you have it available.
  7. Hoid is always involving himself with the major characters. The only real exception is Alloy of Law where he is talking with the newlyweds. Inevitably, he gives them information or assistance that leads them to do what needs to be done or pushes them toward a certain understanding.
  8. Day 19: "What did you do to your eye?" "A little accident with a corkscrew and thirteen angry innkeepers." I do not think there is any doubt the question is about Mat. Probably Nyn asking him due to the way it is blaming him instead of asking what happened.
  9. Day 18: Fortuona ignored her, standing. "This woman is my new Soe'feia. Holy woman, she who may not be touched. We have been blessed. Let it be known."
  10. One of them almost has to be the Dragon's Peace that Avi had visions when she did her final wisewoman stuff. I have no idea what the other two could be. Possibly a united tower with men and women again. There is some foreshadowing of that in the Rose Window in the White Tower.
  11. Yeah, looks like book 6 has been out since 2009 it is called And Another Thing. I didn't like the first one enough to keep going, myself.
  12. Well, he has been extremely busy recently. When he said that, he probably only had a few of the chapters outlined for an annotation. In the past, they have been released piecemeal.
  13. Day 17: "It is one of the three things which I will require of you. Your payment, to me, in exchange for my life." This is probably Rand talking with everyone about the Peace. Makes me wonder what the other two are though.
  14. That is what it looked like to me. I can't think of all that many questions that haven't been answered on here anyway. Pretty much anything else is going to be RAFO.
  15. Love the scene where Mat and Elayne are discussing the Dragons. Great and humorous interaction.
  16. I was also disappointed in the Hitchhiker's first book. So much so that I haven't even bothered to consider the rest. Didn't Colfer pick up the series to finish what Adams had not? Colfer's Artemis Fowl books are pretty good.
  17. I received an internal Goodreads message stating they will be doing a Sanderson interview for their January monthly publication. Unfortunately, the deadline for questions is 12/12/2012. If anyone wants more info, I can copy and paste it to you if you are on Goodreads. For those not on Goodreads, message is below: We are interviewing author Brandon Sanderson for the Goodreads monthly newsletter. His new book is A Memory of Light, the final book in the Wheel of Time series. Add the book & find out more... I am asking his readers to submit questions about his books and anything you're curious about in general. If you send me a question, we may be able to include it! * You received this message because you gave 5 stars to a book by Brandon Sanderson. 18. Day 16: "Do not cut off your foot for fear that a snake will bite it, Perrin Aybara. Do not make a terrible mistake because you fear something that seems worse. This is all I will say on the topic."
  19. Day 15: “It is a simple thing, to stop a man’s heart,” Cadsuane said, arms folded.
  20. I agree, that just doesn't seem to be something that Tuon would say. I don't think there has been an Ashaman with the Tower AS since they developed the weave at least a 1/4 through ToM. That might have something to do with us not seeing it.
  21. Starting tonight. One book in three weeks shouldn't be much of an issue even if reading others at the same time.
  22. That is a nice wiki timeline, but almost nothing is cited to say where they got the information. I almost makes me feel I am missing some valuable source.
  23. Check this out. You will have to do the math yourself, but it should give you a guide. http://encyclopaedia-wot.org/main/calendar.html
  24. Day 14: That, she replied back, is something one should never, never say to an Aes Sedai. Ever. Probably something like "I owe you," or "You are too old for this," or "I love you."
  25. We could probably dig up some dates, but they wouldn't mean much as the calendar has changed multiple times.
