Preservation's number is the same as Adonalsium's because change is bad.

Hoid could probably get pretty far just revealing different names.- 60 replies

Yes, especially Lift.

Yeah, and the individual safety devices in the skyships will probably take the form of a fall-slow-rial and not be easily confused with knapsacks. It's an old joke, and something is lost in the adaptation.

Ulim could be lying, the Stormfather could be wrong, or either or both could be oversimplifying. If the story we've been told isn't entirely true, my money is on some of the Fused being humans who fought with the voidbringers. The idea that each and every Fused is a former Knight Radiant who was tortured into switching sides doesn't square for me with the authority they have and the number that are still sane.

The sky ship is on fire and going down. The last three passengers are Dalinar, Lift, and Taravangian. There are only two parachutes. Taravangian: I am the smartest man in the world, and even if I were inclined to give up my spot for one of you simpletons, the greater good demands that I save myself! Wheeee! Lift: Noooo! Dalinar: Child, go. I have lived a full life. Tell Navani.... Lift: You're gonna be fine, tight butt. The smartest man in the world just jumped with my starvin' lunch!

We know that Scadrian humans are native to Scadrial, albeit based on a template from elsewhere (Ati and Leras were both human, as far as we can tell, and definitely not native to Scadrial). We know humans existed on multiple cosmere worlds before Adonalsium was shattered, but I don't think we know whether they had one home world before that.

Oh no! That wasn't in the plan! Switching two vowels around in a made up name is not a mistake worth feeling bad about. And I'm sorry for using it for a joke.

I'm in.

It does seem like as the series goes on the covers are getting a better handle on the world and characters.

We have reason to believe* that Shallan actually does have her Plate, but doesn't know it because she cray. Jasnah I don't know about. There's a scene where she throws somebody from off screen, then appears to have some kind of nimbus that might be the afterimage of the Plate she just dismissed, but it could also be related to the Transportation surge somehow. *: When Veil, Shallan, and Radiant are standing hand in hand during the battle, Radiant is described as wearing appropriately colored glowing Shardplate. At the end of the battle Radiant, not Shallan, turns out to be the one of the three that's not illusionary.

Yeah, from what we've seen it looks like each new Lashing takes a small but nonzero amount of time.
-
We're pretty sure the stone Amaram swallowed is the same one Aesudan had, right? So at minimum she had to pass it somehow.
-
Theoretically. Each Lashing only gets you a pull equivalent to the normal weight of the thing, though. The pull weight on a bow is going to be some huge multiple of its actual weight, and even more the weight of its projectile, so it would take a while to use Lashings to fire a grandbow, I think. And it would probably be faster and more accurate to just Umpty-Lash the arrow at the person you want to shoot and leave the bow alone.

They do actually draw a distinction between cremlings and insects. There are ten instances of "insect" or "insects" in The Way of Kings, which is the only Stormlight book I have handy in a searchable format. Some of them appear near terms for other Rosharan life, so it's not likely to be just a case of forgetting to replace the word with "cremling". Your broader point stands, though.
-
Prepare for a tactical switch, 'cause Jasnah's a capable witch. You'll fly up behind, but she doesn't mind. Now how 'bout some nice burning pitch?

Now this Limerick will be a true beauty, Because Teft has just drawn Limerick duty. ... ... Storm it, somebody go find Teft.

Well, I am a stick; I'm a stick. Yes, I am a stick; I'm a stick. A stick? I'm a stick. A stick! I'm a stick! A stick, I'm a stick; I'm a stick. (Wrong book, and I can't be the first to make this joke, but I couldn't help myself.) On looked some desperate folk As Renarin expected to choke He smiled at the Fused Saw they were confused "Don't worry, you didn't miss the joke."
-
I'm no artifabrian, but I'm pretty sure turning it off just gets you a bow that's just as hard to bend but less springy, and turning it back on again after you somehow draw it gets you a warped bow that's hard to straighten.

There is one, and it's only ten questions long! Question 1: Have you formed a Nahel bond with an Honorspren? Question 2: Have you formed a Nahel bond with a Cryptic? Question 3:...etc

The queen's association of passion with Vorinism might also be a politician's way of paying lip service to both the Vorin church and the pagan Passions that many of her people venerate. But yeah, if Odium had any way to influence the Vorin church at all, it seems likely he'd do it.

Welcome to the conversation! http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/62372-ob-mayalaran/ http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/62422-ob-adolin-shallan-kaladin-discussion/ ETA: On reflection, this post looks snarky. It wasn't meant to be, so let me say this: You're right, that is a theory that's out there already, but I think it's an interesting one that merits discussion. So let me direct you to a couple of places where that discussion is already taking place and suggest you go read those threads and chime in with your ideas there, rather than starting another conversation here which would necessarily be either incomplete or redundant.

[OB] Write a scene for the one year gap

"The ASSASSIN IN WHITE!" "Yes." "The ASSASSIN! IN WHITE!" "Yes." "I can't be the only one who remembers, you know, the assassination?" "You are not." "By an Assassin, one in White?" "Look we've been over this." "THE EVERSTORMING ASSASSIN IN EVERSTORMING WHITE!" "Sigh...."- 64 replies
