I am doing a reread of Elantris and i am wondering how log was Hoid on Sel. Do you think he was there for the whole time the reod was going on? did the reod affect the difficulty of getting to Sel with the cognitive realm?

I always thought the "she" that Hoid was referring to was cultivation because they were both there for the shattering.

I think and this is just a crazy theory as my questions below will probably show but, what if threnody has a sophisticated civilization in the cognitive realm and the ire think of them as rivals? Does anybody know if the shades are smarter in the cognitive realm? If the answer to my first question is yes do you think they would have a civilization/cities in the cognitive realm of threnody?
