Interesting idea. In WoR does it say how much chouta cost? I'd say it is economical close to a Big Mac. Big Macs are often used to compare the value of currencies, so we could probably figure it out that way.

Definitely been discussed. A lot of people think he may resurrect the blade, unkill the spren. It would be interesting to see how that happens and if it means he will become a radiant. Try using the search for Adolin. There is no shortage of reading material about him.

Yes. I listened to the graphic audio too. The book is better but the GA was fun. My favorite Sanderson is the Stormlight Archive. I noticed Hoid has some breaths. At least that's my assumption since he says he became pitch perfect. I also really liked the Rithmatist. To be honest I like them all, but those are my favorites. I think the only Sanderson I haven't read is the prose of White Sands and the new Alcatraz book. Both are on my reading list, but that list is long. Though, I'll probably move them to the top and skip a bunch of other stuff, but Brent Weeks next book is out in October. Might decide to reread that series in anticipation.

I just reread when Kalidian faces Szeth. I thought I remembered Syl being more angry than afraid of the honorblade. I was wrong she calls it terrible, but this seems to be in reference to a human having the powers without a spren to guide him. So, yeah she seems afraid of it or of what people can do with it. As for the honorblades and bonding, I'm just saying I doubt Dalinar could have bonded it like he does a shardblade. Szeths does disappear when he wants it too and return when he wants. Is that just a function of whoever held it last or is there some bond? If it a s bond that works differently to normal shares than Dalinar wouldn't know how to bond it. If it is the same, done through a gem then I doubt Talenel’s blade would have a gem.

Even if it had been an honorblade the storm father might have demanded he give it up. Didn't Syl freak out about Szeths blade? I'd have to look it up, vague recollection. Also, no one bonds a shard blade. They bond a spren or a gem stone attached to the blade. I'm not sure if the honorblades are bonded the same way. A blade that was only carried by a herald may be unique in not having a gem stone on the hilt for bonding. Unless someone knows how to add the gem stone then it bay not be bondibale right now.

Hello shardians, 17ers? Is there a collective noun for Sanderson fans? Anyways, I signed up for the same reason as most. Sanderson is one of my favorite authors, right along side Terry Pratchett, Earnest Cline, Tom Holt and a couple dozen others. The intricacies of the commerce are intriguing. I've read all the books a couple of times and finally decided to check out the online community. I've found plenty of interesting theories so far. I can tell this forum will take up way too much of my time.

Where to they get more Parshmen from?
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to cadebengert's topic in Stormlight Archive
If it's a genetic trait, It would make sense that not all Horneaters could see spren. It could be a recessive trait or maybe it depends on how much Parshendi heritage one has. The pool is a good theory too. I'm reading WoR again right now. I'll have to pay special attention to that bit. I remember it raising several questions for me the first time round. -
Where to they get more Parshmen from?
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to cadebengert's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes. I expect that we will know more about this after the next book. It may be nothing or something small. In the case of the parshmen I expect it is simply something unpleasant that the light eyes don't like to discuss, a breeding program or something. The Parshendi are more interesting. I suspect they have children in a similar manner to humans because of the interbreeding, but it is unclear. Parshendi require a spren to have form. Are they born with one, born in a high storm? How does their connection with the cognitive realm effect the interbreeding? I assume this is why Rock can see spren. This is a topic that raises a lot of questions for me, but do to the lack of info on it so far I don't have many theories, just questions. -
Is Szeth Really "The One Who Hates?"
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to Aizhen's topic in Stormlight Archive
These current skybreakers don't seem all that just. Nolan uses the law to his own ends. I get no sense that he justly executes the law. He seems to be targeting people and hiding behind the law. His henchmen don't always even follow the law, see Lift story. This could be a corruption that plagued th KR skybreakers or it could be something very different. -

You may be right. I'm on the fence here. Is Szeth chosen to protect Roshar or is he going to be used to fight against the other orders? I didn't think it was clear. I'm not even sure how szeth will fight without stormlight or breaths for the sword he was given. -
King Elhokar pontieal Knight Radient
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to NightFrost's topic in Stormlight Archive
Why would he have to be a good radiant? In one of the visions King Nohadon' laments the fact that not all spren are careful about who they choose for the bond. Maybe such a spren is interested in him. -
Where to they get more Parshmen from?
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to cadebengert's topic in Stormlight Archive
They are on the plains now. We've seen accounts of when the Alethi first met them. Not much mentioned there either. Those were Parshendi on expeditions so maybe no children were with them. There were Alethi who started studying the Parshendi when they first met. I wonder if they asked about children and we haven't seen an account of that yet. Two books in and we haven't seen a description of a Parshendi or Parshman child. I think it's intentional. -

I respectfully disagree. We see Kalidian his bother and fellow villagers as children. We see Shalan and her brothers as children. There is a child in one of Dalinar's visions. There is Lift, the boy who needs shoes, and more. There isn't a lot of mention of children on the shattered plains but in other places there is. I suspect leaving children out of Eshonai's POVs is intentional and meaningful. I definitely agree about the search function. I'm struggling to find the threads related to my questions via the search. -
Is Szeth Really "The One Who Hates?"
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to Aizhen's topic in Stormlight Archive
Might be way off here but this made me think of Nalan/ the man who claims to be Nalan. The cobblers spren said something like "he's here" when Nalan showed up to kill the cobbler. It seems clear that Nalan has been watching Szeth so maybe he was near at the time. Does he hate? I'm not sure of his motivation or if he is who he claims to be. Maybe he hates the Knights and is working for opium or maybe he thinks stopping the orders from forming will stop the desolation before it starts. -
What form do parshendi start with?
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to cloudjumper's topic in Stormlight Archive
As for Eshonai knowing of slaveform, I agree with you that the parshindi may only know of slaveform because of parshman. I think Jasnah is right, humans didn't defeat them. They changed them into something docile and useful, They took away their ability to listen. The above quote doesn't really support this. It is just the overall impression I get. Maybe Eshonia doesn't count slaveform because it's not one of the five they know, or maybe she doesn't count it because it is really a lack of form. I think it could be read either way and can't find a passage that clarifies. I did note that Zuln, the council of fives dullform member, It would seem to imply that parshamn are the only ones without song, but there is no direct mention of children here. I haven't found a reference to children that clarifies anything. As for the quote about music: Again, this is a matter of interpretation. I think they seem confused to have found listeners who cannot listen. If they were confused to have found adults acting like children I'd expect one to ask "why are they acting like children?" That said, maybe they want to hide what their children are like from the humans. There is much about themselves that they hid. -

If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to cloudjumper's topic in Stormlight Archive
Found the quote I was thinking of. It's not from the song but from her discussion with her sister about if they should try for stormform. If slaveform is a formless form I guess you could say that the quote doesn't rule out that they knew slaveform too, back when they only knew of dullform and mateform. I think that's a stretch though. It reads to me as if there was a time when all parshindi were either mate or dull -

I'll have to get out the ebook when I get home and search, but I'm pretty sure I remember one of the listener songs saying the only forms known to them after escaping their gods were dull and mate form. Later they rediscover worker form. I think that would indicate they are born in either dull or mate. I also remember when the parshindi meet the Alethi they are surprised by the parshmen and ask "where is their music?" They don't ask why are they acting like children. The parshmen seem to have had the ability to listen removed. Their form isn't one of the five, or six if you count storm form. The parshindi don't seem to think of them as fully Listeners. -

Adolin and ryshadium
If.you.die.I.go.stupid replied to If.you.die.I.go.stupid's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes. I think it might be an indicator, but not likely that all riders will become Knights. Does Dalinar's bond occur at the end of WoR? His oaths occur then but Kalind began the bond before his oaths. I thought a similar thing was happening with Dalinar and would explain why he gets the visions. Maybe it is better to call it a pre-load before the oaths, but I think there was some connection before the oath. With Adolin, I understand the Sprenger is dead so no Nahal bond, but maybe there is a similar, pre-natal connection. -
First post. I'm not sure of the spoiler protocol, so be warned, this post includes spoilers. I'm rereading WoR and noticed something I missed the first time. Ryshadium were the horses of the radiants. Kalidian is told this while learning to ride. It got me thinking about the horses. I know from WoK that the ryshadium are very picky about who they choose as riders. Do we know when Dalinar and Adolin got their ryshadiums? I'm wondering if ryshadium pick those with a bond to a spren or the potential to bond. Dalinar has a bond with the storm father. I assume that there has been some form of bond since the visions started, maybe longer. It took Kalidian a long time to notice the bond and Shallan denied it for years. It seems possible Dalinar’s bond goes back long enough to precede his ryshadium. I think Adolin has a bond too, and his goes back even further, almost as long as he has had his blade. The way he speaks to his blade and feels like it listens makes me think he may have the beginnings of a bond to the spren. I know the spren is “dead”, but Syl did say the maybe the blades wouldn't be abominations if the right people had them. She was skeptical that there were such people, but if the ryshadium do choose those with a bond then I think Adolin is likely to undead a spren. Of course this leads me to speculate about what order he could fall into. Could killing Sadeas be in line with one of the orders, maybe skybreakers? My apologize if I'm just rehashing something that has been discussed to death. I read a few threads on Adolin prior to posting and didn't see this discussed, but this forum is huge. I could have missed it.
