  1. Someone once asked Brandon how high a Windrunner could go, and the reply was that since the surges are pressure and gravity, he could exit orbit. So I definitely agree that there's more to Adhesion than Kaladin knows. Adhesion is way less flashy than Gravitation from what we've seen but I bet Brandon will do some cool things with it along the road

Not sure if I would believe this myself, but with all the talk of Harmony wandering over to Greater Roshar for whatever reason, I thought it might be more of a twist to have Odium actually finish off Cultivation in the SA arc. He could shatter her too, and then withdraw all of his investiture from Roshar and move on to whatever comes next for him. It could even be  that Odium finishes whatever he's doing on Roshar, and then hops over to Scadrial, thus preserving SA as a more-or-less standalone (except that the 'bad' guy wins). I could definitely see Brandon making his massive 10 book epic fantasy end with "and Odium reigned, everything got destroyed, Roshar was left with heaps of magical, decentralized God-dust from the bits of Honor and Cultivation left over. Then Odium left...".

I agree. I feel like SA 5 will end with Odium being freed from Greater Roshar and goes off to fight the greatest threat to him, i. e. Harmony. Maybe with some help, who knows?

It fits timeline-wise as well, since Trell/Red-Fog arrives on Scadrial just after SA 5.

  3. I think I may have found something. What about Leyten, one of the other injured bridgemen?  It would have been easy for WalDo (amazing name by the way!) to slip in, replace one of the bridgemen, and then pretend to be nurtured to health again. I agree that a kandra worldhopper would want to be in a position close to one of the protagonists.

Kaladin saves his life after one of the bridgerun. From the Coppermind:

    Quote

Kaladin notes that Leyten will always have a limp from his injuries, although Leyten is never thereafter described as walking with a limp. notes that Leyten will always have a limp from his injuries, although Leyten is never thereafter described as walking with a limp.

    Seems suspicious...

Tbqh the idea that the shards are the most powerful entities in Cosmere is already great and interesting with their abilities being the same but limited by their intent etc etc. This Great Beyond God stuff would just turn cosmere into one of those work where the author does this godawful trope about "a great power greater than the current one" that they always reiterate like 2-4 times which usually turns their work into an awful mess or mediocre stuff that was once good.

That is true and i understand that for the main plot the Shards are the main focus. But I feel like Brandon has mentioned the God Beyond enough on different planets and in different stories for it to have some relevance (even if it's not the solution to the whole afterlife issue)

I find the WoB (which btw I have not come across, so thank you @Djarskublar) much more interesting, even if Brandon is a fantasy author he does take into consideration the views of his audience. I have to admit I am disappointed (because I am religious and still would not be offended if Brandon explained a Cosmere Afterlife). Like @Rasarr said, it is just fiction. But that argument does end this discussion.

  5. I was rereading all the interludes from the SA and came across Ym's description of his religion.

    Quote

He believes, long ago, there was only one being which he simply calls One. One knew everything but had experienced nothing. And so One became Many in order to experience all things. As each experience is different, it brings completeness to One. Eventually, all will be gathered back in when the sum of land is attained and they will once again become One. Every person is a different mind of a single being experiencing different lives.

(taken from Ym's page on the Coppermind)

We know from Secret History that after you die, you enter the Cognitive Realm as a Shadow before being 'sucked' into the Beyond. Maybe that's exactly what happens to everybody, they become part of a whole again, part of the sum of all experiences.

I know there isn't much in the books to support this theory, other than the fact that it is an existing religion, but I do think it would fit with the overall theme of something (Adonalsium) being shattered into lots of tiny pieces.

    Thoughts?

  6. True, I handn't thought of sterility in that situation.

And I just remembered that there is a Mateform, which threw me off a little, to be honest.

The existence of Mateform doesn't mean that they cannot also reproduce in other forms. Regular Parshmen/Dullform also reproduce. Which makes me wonder why there is a need for Mateform at all. If I remember correctly, Eshonai thinks it's a very unproductive and somewhat annoying form, but that's beside the point.

  7. Different theory about Aimians, unless someone can confirm that they aren't originally from Roshar.

We have WoB that some races on Roshar are Parshendi-Human hybrids, e. g. Horneaters (explaining why they can see spren when others can not), so I think it could be plausible that Aimians also have some Parshendi mixed in there somewhere. All the weird stuff they can do with their body (plus the shadow thing) seems pretty Voidbringer-y to me. This would also explain why so many people immediately think Voidbringer when they see an Aimian (although anything that people can't really explain or frightens them is conected to Voidbringers in the minds of people).

Still, what if people still associate Aimians with Voidbringers because their ancestors really were Voidbringers and even if that was forgotten myths or rumors developped connecting the two?

Could the scouring of Aimia have something to do with this?

Could it be possible for a Smoke- or Light/Nightform (not sure if these exist) Parshendi to have descendants with similar powers? I assume that when a new Parshendi is born that he or she is in Dullform but could a residue of a form carry onto a human-parshendi descendant? We know that some investiture like Allomancy is hereditary, so I think it's not too far fetched.

I do have to admit I dont see a Voidbringer and a Human having some kids during a war and thus creating an entirely new race, but I thought its a nice theory.

    Thoughts?
