  1. "Interesting theory, but how does the metal lake fit in?" Classic! :D

I lurked here for awhile. I didn't even create an account until I read a terrible post and was about to come in hot (same as David, I think?). But I think there was like a full day wait time to post after creating and decided better when the time came.

Really liked @Comatose's guide, my favorite part is:

Instead of typing out the same points in different words, try to rereading your previous posts

Wow, theory busted. This clearly, proves everything wrong! Sorry, I had to in the spirit of the pod. Thanks for sharing the old school fun of TWG.

It's possible they didn't, his bond was just repressed like Shallan's was. Which would explain why managed to get a Highspren's attention so quickly- he's always been bonded to that Highspren.

That may be true. But didn't Nale's Skybreakers in Oathbringer kind of insinuate that Highspren follow their group to bond new potential recruits? I may be misremembering or just misunderstood.

  3. Great episode! I laughed so hard at everyone inserting "Sh" in front of words, which made me look insane as I shopped for groceries in this COVID-19 induced panic.

The Stone Shamans/Shin leadership give me a lot of vibes from Mistborn:

    Spoiler

Kandra leadership knowing the truth but doing nothing.

Maybe we haven't seen the Sibling because the Stone Shamans have bonded it somehow? Hence the "Spirits of the Stones themselves" comment? Also, I believed that Szeth bonded his first spren and they were urgently telling Szeth to sound the alarm. But since it just crossed over it couldn't explain much and so Szeth couldn't either. But I wonder how they forced him to break his bond...

  4. I loved this episode. I was pretty much waiting for the discussion to turn to the memory altering awakening command. It kinda reminds me of Dalinar's memory alteration.

I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one wanting Nightblood so badly. I really think awakening is about to expand in new ways.

  5. Great episode! I was thoroughly impressed with @thegatorgirl00's debating skills. So, my thoughts:

Shai is Odium. Overwrote the spirit web of Emperor Ashraven, bonded a soul stamp and corrupted him. Theory confirmed.

    ----

    Kenton, "Take me away, Stormdaddy."

Stormfather, "THE WORDS ARE ACCEPTED. BUT BRING THE BOOMBOX."

    -----

How I briefly imagined Nightblood and Yelig-Nar. But considering Nightblood starts consuming more the longer he's bonded, I think he wins.

  6. Fantastic episode. Listened twice cuz it was so enjoyable. The Deathrattles really make for great theory crafting. I wonder how Moelach's visions work. Are they crafted through future sight by Odium? Are they a similar mechanic to the visions that Dalinar received? Could Dalinar somehow invade one of these similarly to how Odium can crash his visions?

But, if the Heralds don't have bodies on Braize, how exactly do they get tortured? Hooks and flames and whatnot. Unless you think that Kel's experience with Hoid is anything to go by for all Cognitive Shadows.

Came here to say the same thing. I was a little confused considering what Kalak was so worried about.

Kalak felt something within him break at the admission. How long had it been? Centuries, perhaps millennia, of torture. It was so hard to keep track. Those fires, those hooks, digging into his flesh anew each day. Searing the skin off his arm, then burning the fat, then driving to the bone. He could smell it. Almighty, he could smell it!

  8. The garbled @thegatorgirl00 was hilarious. No more "technically".

The WoB where someone asked Brandon about if the Honorblades were modeled after anything makes me think they were angling for an answer about the Dawnshards.

Also, either the move to Dischord to record the show or the system update to my phone has allowed my podcast app to pause, fast forward and rewind without having weird playback issues.

    Great episode guys!

  9. Two topics you guys discussed that I feel like should be expanded on with Autonomy.

The topic where Shannon ( @Greywatch? ) talked about she wants to see shards that have been split/more than the original 16 shards. The Avatars in the letters to Hoid in Oathbringer apparently disagree with each other, so wouldn't this fit the criteria perfectly? Idk how many Avatars you need for the number to be qualified as a Pantheon, but Greek gods had 12.

So if this is how Autonomy is, can the different aspects be different enough to manifest different God metals on shard worlds?

Idk why I thought it was so funny, but I was laughing at @Argent calling out @Chaos's pronunciation of Patji. All I could think of was, "Welcome to FallingOutCast, a spin off of PedanticCast, where pronunciations anger the hosts enough to lash out and shatter friendships."

  10. Wow @Argent, lol. Welcome to ThirstCast!

On the co-written stuff, I quickly soured on the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. I really enjoyed Dan Wells book I Am Not A Serial Killer. I think I could trust them together, because they're also fun to listen to on Writing Excuses.

  11. OMG the voices, lol!

I really agreed with Shannon about Dalinar. I never understood the people that were upset over Dalinar's flashbacks. Everyone said he was a terrifying warrior and would pretty much stop at nothing. Suddenly it's shown and people think, "Woah, not cool!"? I didn't get it. It's a bad comparison, but reminded me of when the NFL didn't suspend Ray Rice over knocking out his fiancee until the video surfaced. Suddenly it's not ok because you saw him punch her? What did you expect?
