  1. TyCould it be as simple as generic investiture and flavored investiture? Or the ring is a stamp and not a separate piece of metal? If the Excisors are what people anticipate them to be then creating complex medallions shouldn't be as difficult as they say if it can be in the same metalminds. You could pass them all around and let different people fill the same metal of they were without identity.
  2. Then why would it require two seperate rings in the medallions? Hmm. Always missing a piece of the whole.
  3. Ya, I was way off. It says that the inner band is Nicrosil, and infers the second is too. Iron for conveinience to store weight. It means the powers are stored in separate metal minds. The confusing part is the spear is sixteen different metals, not all of them are Nicrosil. Unless it is making a distinction between each power stored in each piece of Nicrosil. My mistake. Been reading the MAG and it implies Nicrosil Feruchemy can duplicate other Feruchemy.
  4. But the spear head is one solid piece of metal isn't it? Do you have terms that differentiate the different forms Investiture takes, I will gladly use them. I thought the Nicrosil piece of the medallion was granting investiture to tap (bronze) and store (iron)? So you can use nicrosil to use an unidentified metal mind, but not to create a metal mind. That being the limiting factor in needing Ferrings. Does it ever come out and say otherwise? I was mildly distracted for that chapter, I'll go back and reread for clarity sake.
  5. the think terms should be established to make this easier. Ritual to describe the beginning of an investiture (Burning Metal) Mana to describe raw energy investiture And magic to describe the result investiture (pushing metal, Soothing, etc) The mana stored in Nicrosil was used by Wax to start the ritual of burning metals that were not Steel. Do we think that's a thing Nicrosil mana can allow, or that "Sovereign's " Nicrosil had some different special properties?
  6. Right. Was seeking clarification. So, the soul is a form of investiture. Which we already knew, but it's fun to get different connected dots. Same number of metals as shards... it's fun to speculate about.
  7. Yeah, the soul glows because it's invested, the same as the metals. I presume that the breath, and Dor do the same on their planets. Blind might not be the right word. They cannot seek out the soul, alone. Like the cognitive spirits could hide from Sazed?
  8. But the Nicrosil lets them start the process of burning the metal, no? So, with enough stored investiture and appropriate metals to burn, could you do the same things?
  9. Metal is the same thing as the soul. That's what we learn in BoM it's what makes Rioting and Soothing possible...Copper and Brass helps mask or find metals being invested... Bronze can find people burning metal, can find usage of Feruchemy, and potentially allocate any usage of investiture... could a Seeker Savant be the key to finding the unknown God? Not that it's going to happen, but they're able to see what the shards are blind to... I'll probably ramble and speculate more in the comments to keep it all contained. Also, does this imply that harmony is blind to souls ?
  10. I'm not sold on Nicrosil requiring other powers. Metal burning begins an investiture, so it's very possible it could use stored charges to begin another investiture. In theory... You could use it to begin burning metals, and to sustain the burn. You could use it to access the Dor, or to store or tap different metals. We see in BoM that you can power every investiture with Nicrosil, if you had to store different investitures like senses I suspect they'd require different metal minds.
  11. Have we considered the Trell as Odium theory and that his presence creates some red streaked foci of the existing gods? I assume the big red swath approaching Scadrial to be Odium and that Metal is the same stuff as souls... so the red apperances could have to do with "Odium rust." It also could have effected soul stones on Self.
  12. Wasn't aware. Never saw a WoB that said they weren't canon . My mistake then.
  13. In the MAG it lets you tap a large amount of Aluminium to completely reset your identity to blank. Not sure if it'd be unkeyed but blank leads me to think that.
  14. Aluminium also allows you to tap to reset your personality. Nicrosil allows you to tap it as other investiture at a very small amount of return. So, Nicrosil ferring could potentially do it all on their own, with large quantities of Nicrosil, anyway.
  15. So, I have some thoughts. Nicrosil metalminds allow you to tap genetic investiture for a smaller amount of x metal investiture. Being a Nicrosil Compounder you can eventually become the Lord Ruler, in its own right. So, what if it also can be tapped for the investiture of other magic systems, like how Wax could burn all of the metals with Allomancy, it would explain why the charges depleted at the rate they did. Also, I assume that Lerasium acts as something very similar when used with Feruchemy. It might even generate it's very own generic investiture. So, for instance, you could tap that investiture to be able to use any metalminds, or burn any metal, or access the For, or use Breath. It could explain why Hoid revers his Lerasium as much as he does. Allowing him potential access to the magic systems in other planets. One of the, so called, "hacks" for each magical system.
