  1. I salute you, sir. "XD. Well, maybe, except the two abilities seem to work separately. It would be like with Wayne. His two powers are good, but they don't work together. Pewter/Gold, Pewter/Steel, and probably a few others do. Chromium's ability is so distinct that it is hard for it to work together with anything other than Bendalloy and Cadmium, but it works fine on its own. (Did anyone else think that Sanderson made Feruchemical Iron weight JUST so it would work with allomantic Steel?)
  2. Yes, this is Earth without Calamity. Seeing a lot of repitition here. .
  3. Derp. Right after I posted this, I remembered about Awakening and the talents. Don't recognize any others but Silimatics (Don't remember what it is, but I recognize it), but I have a ton of books left to read. Lol. Same with me.Oh, and Twinborn is an option. Just to let ya know.
  4. It's fine. I'm now going to cry in a corner. XD
  5. No, I'm sorry. I wasn't disagreeing with you, just pointing something out. Now, HERE'S an interesting idea. We know that both Allomancy and Ferromancy are genetic, and we know that you can't have ONLY two or three metals (Why is that? THAT MAKES NO FREAKING SENSE!!! Sorry), BUT, it never says that about Ferrochemy, does it? What if you were a Whindwhisperer AND a Bloodmaker?
  6. Here is a question I have frequently asked myself: what ability would I want to have? Out of any book or series, I would like to know what ability you would want and why. (Note: No Mistborns, no full Feruchemical, and no people like Larcener. They're too OP, and I would like variation.) Just to be clear, here's a list: Allomancer, (Specify which one) Ferromancer, (Again, specify) Hemalurgic, Twinborn, (Specify) Rithmatist, Epic, (Specification) Surgebinders, And probably a TON more that people are going to get really mad at me for leaving out. So, which one? Even though I am a HUGE Mistborn fan, I think, for me, it boils down to either a Rithmatist or a Surgebinder. The first because of the strategy you have to use in fighting. It is really the only power whose fighting isn't physical. I can respect that. Also, I LOVE STRATEGY GAMES. The second because, well, the powers involve flying, walking on walls, and a ton of other cool stuff. Gravity manipulation is awesome, and it has been shown to be useful in the two novels. I would love to hear what YOU would want to be, so please comment, and feel free to say the abilities I missed. BUT, please don't be overly critical, or critical at all, of other people's opinions. They have a right to speak too. So please, feel free to speak. I would love to hear your opinion.
  7. Yes, but because the pain could be dilated, you could leave some pain receptors so that you could get help if you were hurt, instead of COMPLETELY ignoring it.
  8. I was actually thinking the exact same thing! A slider could set up a bubble, and then the Pulser. This would allow the Mistings (or Mistborn), to move in real time, while everyone around them is near-frozen. And, you could shoot people frozen in time, allowing easy dispatchment. Now, I am aware that a bullet's path is unpredictable with bubbles, but you could still hit people at point-blank, right? Another thing. What if, instead of the two mistings making a doughnut, they made a crescent moon? And then, the mistings could escape the people around them. ANYWAY, what do you think of an Augur? Do they have any purpose to their powers?
  9. Thanks. And it turns out I misunderstood the use for pain, but it is still important in letting you know to stop whatever is hurting you. So, it still is useful, but not necessary. You're right.
  10. My one post has spawned a full 2 1/2 pages of discussion. Success! XD This has gone on for long enough, I think. So, if I may, I would like to shift the discussion to Windwhisperers. More specifically, the other senses. These are: Pressure, Itch, (I know, weird right?) Temperature, Pain, Thirst, Hunger, Time, Direction, Muscle Tension, Equilibrioception, Proprioception, Stretch Receptors, Chemoreceptors, Plus the standard five. While some of these are totally useless for a Windwhisperer (Like pressure), some of these could have awesome effects, like direction and pain. So this sense would be incredibly useful because why? We all know a Tineye's weakness. A loud sound would render them stunned, unless they were a tin compounder. They could not only store their hearing, but also their pain. Same with light. They couldn't be removed that easily. Now unfortunately, you'd have to dedicate an entire bracelet (Does anyone know the proper term for a Feruchemical vessel? Please?), to pain, but the good thing is pain isn't entirely useless. Pain is an alarm to direct help to a wound, so if you just diluted it and then threw away the vessel (Mrg...), then your wound would never heal. And it would also be like a Thug's weakness: burning pewter makes you ignore fatal injuries. So, after a fight you could apply slight amounts of pain to each injury to start healing them. Now, to the next cool ability: touch. As seen in a The Hero of Ages, Spook used this amazingly. and he wasn't even a compounder. It would be almost as good as Atium. And, since we know pain and touch are separate, if you got hit you could remove the pain without losing your touch. (OMG!!! BAD PUN!!! XD) Now for Temperature, Pain, Itch, Hunger, and Thirst. These are necessary for survival and removing them perminately would be bad. Remove temperature, and you could freeze or burn to death. Remove pain, and never heal from anything. Remove Hunger or Thirst, and die from starvation or dehydration. These are necessary. Although, you could remove them short term so that you wouldn't be distracted. Any other useful senses?
  11. Oh wow. Excellent point! It's like Atium how increases brainpower to deal with the shadows or how Feruchemical iron increases strength. So... Yeah! Good observation. Although, you still wouldn't QUITE be Obliteration. The fire-proof side effect would only last for as long as you used the brass. If you melted the entire city and ran out of heat, you would burn. Still a good power though.
  12. K. Is it a problem that I've only read the first four books? I don't want any spoilers that are TOO big.
  13. After reading AofL, I wondered if there was actually a use for allomantic Chromium other than being a damsel in distress. So this post will be for discussing the use for things like gold and chromium, and theorizing about things like Bendalloy+Cadmium and Feruchemical necrosil. Other than reducing wait time, I don't think cadmium does much by itself. But, as a Twinborn, you could store your ability in normal time, and then use it in cadmium. The cadmium would extend its use time, so things like chromium and zinc would last longer. Actually, a cadmium-chromium Twinborn would be BETTER than a Bendalloy-Chromium Twinborn. Why? Because if you have a minute of luck stored and you use bendalloy, you still get the bullet distortion, for less than a minute in real-time. With cadmium, you would have the bullet distortion with more than a minute of luck. However, bendalloy does work quite well with Feruchemy, with the opposite of cadmium. You could use bendalloy, then store a minute of abilities in much less time, and then use the ability in real time.
  14. Woah! That's a cool use for duralumin. Never thought of it. Maybe the babel fish have Feruchemy. XD. Seriously though, duralumin might be the third best compounder.
  15. Um... I understand Sanderson wants to include as much real science as possible, but who's saying that Feruchemical heating and cooling is the same as real cooling and heating. Copperminds can store specified memories. Can brass not store specified heat? Now to my original idea. Camacazi. I mean, you would need ton of brass to store the heat, but it seems like a glass cannon. Some people are saying to use duralumin to make you socially invisible, but you would need a lot of duralumin to store it. That wouldn't work, but what about the opposite? Making yourself so likable that nobody cares what you do? A duralumin compounder would not only make you 9x more likable, you could also use allomantic duralumin to multiply your social standing. You could beat anyone in a fight because they would join you.
  16. You're all missing the point of 98F. If the body gets too hot, it doesn't work. No, you wouldn't burn, you would overheat. It's like a car engine. That's why you would also need to fill your brass: to not overheat.
  17. The breathing problem keeps coming up, but what if you were a full Feruchemical and you used Cadmium and Brass? Problem solved.
  18. Kinda concerned for your mental health, but thanks for the clarification. I was actually just wondering a heat/time ratio. So HA! Punching would be sufficient. Although I feel nobody is reading my explanation on why the Firesoul WOULDN'T get burned.
  19. Sorry I posted that three times. I lagged and spammed the post button. Yeah, that was my fault. I meant to say hand-to-hand combat. Poor choice of words on my part. No, you got it right. However, you forgot about something very important that I explained in my first post. If the Firesoul heats up, he also heats up the air around him. Because of the Laws of Thermodynimics, the heat would also go to the air around the air. If the Firesoul taps one vessel and fills another at the same time, he should create an aura of heat slightly above the skin and sustain it much longer. I agree that it probably isn't luck. (I don't believe in it). But, I have a theory of my own. I propose that when one uses chromium, they very slightly adjust the molecules around them in their favor. This is all subconscious, and can only change things slightly, but the more you use, the more it can change. This would explain why people thought it was luck, because it couldn't stop someone stabbing you, but it could slightly change air currents to avoid being hit by bullets. Furthermore, this would also slightly alter your decisions so that you could bet on things. Rather than stop a train before it hits you, this power might instead cause the train conductor to go 1% slower so you could get out of the way, or cause a delay so the train would leave late. I have no idea who Matrom is, but I'm assuming he's in one of the later novels (I've only read to AofL). But I think it would be subconcious thing, as explained above.
  20. Is punching the only method of fighting in hand-to-hand combat? I don't think anyone rational is going to fight someone who can light their hands on fire, even if, logically, it won't burn them. Part of the advantage is fear factor, but their clothes can light on fire, which is the real advantage. And their hair. And not to mention that if you do grab them, their skin will burn and it will hurt a ton, incapacitating them. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying that in a fistfight you would have a different technique because all it takes is sustained contact, not brute force.

  23. Exactly. And, with the brass, even if you didn't have flaming armor, you could still light your hands on fire, which would be AWESOME in a fist-fight.
  24. Yes, but keep in mind that gambling IS a thing, as mentioned first in AofL. You could have the money to buy that much chromium. And as I mentioned, Miles healed 9x faster, and you didn't see him constantly eating gold. However, it would probably be insanely hard to be shot like the same. Even if you weren't THAT lucky, I would still want to be a chromium compounder.
  25. I got thinking what Twinborn I would want to be, and I realized the two most OP abilities ever. 1. Brass compounder. Sorry, right now I can't recall the correct terminology, but this would be amazing. Think about it. Any Firesoul (I think that's it), even if they had another allomantic metal, could reduce their body temperature to absolute zero. And, following one of the laws of thermodynamics, convert a very large area into solid crystal. (The fifth state of matter) And that isn't the scariest application of this power. Any Firesoul with enough stored heat (a compounder could store more faster) could turn into Oblivion (read The Reckoners trilogy). Somebody mentioned that they wouldn't be impervious to heat, but they would. Since I'm assuming brass stores body heat, if one doubled their body heat, then stored up all the heat around them and repeated this, they would create an aura of plasma while staying at 97F-98F. This is even scarier, because if you froze yourself you would die, but you could still walk away from doing this. Any bullets would vaporize before touching them. AND, since I'm also assuming where they channel their body heat, they could channel heat away from their feet so as not to worry about melting the ground underneath them. This power would be INSANE. They could walk through walls by melting them. They could vaporize people by touching them. They could empty oceans of water. And this isn't even the most OP power. The most OP power is: 2. Compounded Chromium. I can't believe it's potential wasn't mentioned earlier. Just think. It is mentioned several times that by compounding metals, you get 1000% of the Feruchemical power. Chromium's Feruchemical power is luck. If you still don't see the implications, I'm astounded. This isn't just about winning the lottery. This is better than the first one. If you get 1000% of your luck by burning stored luck, and you store 100% at the same time, then you can go around 900% luckier all the time. You can do this with any compounder. Miles healed 900% faster than a normal man. With 900% luck, you could leap into crossfire without getting shot. Forget about instant healing. What about not being shot at all? Someone shoots you at point blank, and you're so lucky that it hits the other guy instead. Heck, if you were lucky enough, it would kill every criminal in town. As amazing as this is, it gets better. Imagine you are 900% luckier. You shoot a bystander. The chances of him NOT being a criminal would be microscopic. Are you seeing this now? With enough luck, you could literately shoot at the ground and it hits your arch-nemesis. You would be invulnerable. All of your guesses would be facts. You would always be at the right place at the right time. This is easily be the best power ever. Easily. Not only that, burning it allomantically would give you a serious advantage over mistings as you could drain their metals. Now, someone mentioned the Bendalloy-Chromium Combo. This would be DEVASTATING. Yes, all that luck would protect you, but eventually battles boil down into skill, which would be the downfall of Chromium Compounders. Not with Bendalloy though. Instead of a Bendalloy-Chromium combo though, what about Chromium-Chromium and Bendalloy-Gold? Full luck capability, and the gold part would allow the companion to not get mowed down easily. I would DEFINITELY want to be a Chromium Compounder. Other Compounders worth mentioning would be steel, with 900% SPEED. I mean seriously. That's around 90mph at least. Another good compounder would be Iron, Zinc(900% brainpower, finds the answer to any question ever), and Gold. An INSANE Twinborn in my opinion would be Atium-Zinc. Stores up Zinc, then in a fight only needs to use a few seconds of Atium to analyze EVERYTHING. Atium also increases brainpower, so the effects would be dramatically increased. Reduced Atium burning with even better effect. Nice. This is my first post, and I hope it helped. Bye!
